FCC Investigating George Soros-Owned Radio Stations for Providing Leaked Information About Where ICE Is Operating
- Federal Communication Commission chairman Brendan Carr has opened an investigation into a radio station backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros that broadcasted live locations of undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.A group backed Soros, a far-left kingmaker, purchased a stake in more than 200 Audacy radio stations across America last year. Among them was the San Francisco-based KCBS 740 AM, which has come under fire for revealing live locations of undercover ICE vehicles and agents that were conducting deportation operations in the San Jose area.
The FCC's Enforcement Bureau has already sent a formal Letter of Inquiry to the radio station as part of the FCC investigation. The Enforcement Bureau proceeding is inquiring whether the radio station--which is licensed to operate by the FCC--is violating the terms of their FCC license, which requires that they operate in the "public interest." The formal Enforcement Bureau Letter notes that the ICE agents were operating at the time in an area known for violent gang activity.

On the January 26 edition of "KCBS Radio Weekend News," it revealed specific information about undercover ICE agents who were "carrying out an operation on the east side of town."

Can't they just run all the government employees' tax id numbers to see if they’re getting W-2s from a second employer? All brokerage firms do that with employees' tax ids to make sure they don't have accounts at other brokerage firms. Seems like it would be pretty easy for the DOGE wizards to come up with a similar search program.

Look there are some good feds. I personally know one. But that fed and I are in agreement - it's like when I started my homeschool field trip group. It was at a time when homeschoolers would sign up and bail, so you'd have 30 folks signed up and 5 show, and that was embarrassing to the trip runner and a waste of time for the trip offerer. So, when I did the job for free, I told anyone who signed up and missed a trip that they were out of the next 3 trips. No matter how good they were. And then, folks SHOWED. No one missed. I relaxed the rules when I literally had someone come who was vomiting in the car. But that was 6 months in and after I got everyone on board with being a good sign up person.
You gotta treat folks like kids, til they show you they can be grown ups again. No excuses. Follow the rules.

But three things I know about this that suggests we may never know the specifics:
She was a professional Army Officer.
The tower was short handed.
Pilots I have spoken to who have flown that route say it is really easy to lose another aircraft in the lights.
I can very easily see this as several unrelated things going wrong at once.

Actually happened to me once. In college rented a car to go to a college competition a few states over. We had a tape player on the seat for music. When we were out of the city I switched drivers, and toid the two in the front seet that the passenger seat person was in control of hte tape and the driver was to order them to do anything needed. A while later the driver was playing with the tape, leaned over it some and pulled the wheel with him and drover all 4 of us off the road on an interstate.

Short answer is no.
I personally know at least a dozen women who are pilots for both fixed wing and helos. They are just as good as the men for the same level of experience. I can also tell you i have met men pilots that I would never fly with. Can't say that about any of the women.
Any physical or psychological oddity that would affect any man or woman's flying is almost always discovered in their initial training.

The only physical difference I have heard about is that women generally handle G force somewhat better in terms of blacking out than men. I suppose they would be somewhat worse in moving controls and such in high g due to normal strength differences in upper body.
In practice the likely issue is that with overt or covert trying to favor women they will be rushed thru training despite any issue they have that might have been trained out, in order to avoid accusations of bias against women.

The facile explanation is that men were the ones out hunting and needed spatial awareness to calibrate how to throw the spear to bring down game. Women, OTOH, were the ones who provided the social glue, so became better at verbal ability and networking. It's almost as if nature decided that we needed a division of labor if we were going to be able to live together in social groups.

There's an old British archaeology show Time Team that had an episode where they excavated a Spitfire that crashed in France in 1940. Went in nose first and accordioned into itself until it was almost buried almost everything was there (the body had been returned/buried in 1940). Another amazing aspect of this is that you can't follow the flight of the ball for the last 15 feet or so, because your eyes can't slew that fast.* So you have to guess from the trajectory of the ball where it will be when it's over the plate.
*You can see it when it's over the plate if you look straight down because your eyes don't need to slew to follow the ball.

That's easy enough to explain. Say you start with a nice tree shape with no loops. With time you start jiggering it , adding new nodes in places for new needs. You don't really care much about who does it for Politico Subscriptions so you add it willly nilly.
Then someday you need a new item added to near the top of a tree inbetween funding periods and an item on another branch down the tree has some surplus. Just link it back to the top node and problem solved.

My guess is loss of control. Hydraulics maybe. Catastrophic failure of flight controls? We may never know but in my opinion the pilots had no control over the aircraft at all.

We have one or teo here on the blog, so ask them...but i cannot see any crusty assed flight warrant on Dothan, AL passing a substandard pilot just because of their sex, orientation, or skin color. Those dudes are hard core by the numbers ocd about letting people that could kill them, get the opportunity to kill them through ignorance.
I know i wouldn't pass a Patriot system officer on his/her tactical operation of the system unless i could trust them not to shoot my ass out of the air. And the female 2LTs were often better at the friendly protect role in that hot seat.

This is why I am less sure about the ATC competence but in the little that I have seen, they did what they always do (short staffed, abandoning the separation rules and going visual, etc.)
It may be that those practices are very unsafe but that is a procedural problem. Maybe DEI created those procedures but I am only saying we have no evidence for that so far.
