Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Mitch McConnell Falls Down Steps in Senate, AgainSen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fell as he exited the Senate chamber on Wednesday, though he did not immediately appear injured and walked away under his own power. McConnell, who stepped down as GOP leader in January, was assisted onto his feet by Sens. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and Steve Daines (R-MT) and then walked to a Senate lunch. He had just cast a vote for Scott Turner to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development when he tripped. The episode is the latest brush with injury for McConnell, who sustained a cut on his face and sprained his wrist in December at another Senate lunch. In 2023, McConnell, 82, was hospitalized for a concussion and later had multiple freezing episodes in front of the cameras, apparently as a lingering symptom of the concussion.People talk about Trump's ego and yes, of course he has a big ego. But at the same time, you have these ancient men and women who just absolutely refuse to leave power because they are convinced the world cannot wheel 'round the sun without their assistance. He's staying in partly because his advisors, who get rich from peddling his influence, urge him to stay in. They know they have no future in the new Republican Party. McConnell is their only, and last, meal ticket. Same as with Biden and the Biden Crime Family. I saw someone call for the destruction of McConnell's entire fundraising and lobbying apparatus. They didn't explain how this would work, but one idea comes to my mind: Let it be known that any corporation or PAC employing a McConnell staffer is persona non grata in the Trump administration and Trump will take action opposite to what their clients are paying them to lobby for. That would fix their britches.

My first thought: fell, or pushed? I wish no harm but let's face it, the GOP/ MAGA's are aninimalistic. Offical mobsters.
He's been making negative comments about trump. Yesterday I think. He got the Putin treatment. Thoughts and stairs. He really needs to stop pretending he can do the job. Who’d replace him though? Each is worse than the last. Probably didn't do as much damage as the damage he has brought upon this nation (Pretty good gif) https://tinyurl.com/ywejddur My dad turns 82 tomorrow. He fell and broke a hip in July last year. The damage done was bad, but he survived the replacement and the surgery and the recovery (physically). He is a ruined man mentally though since that time. The fact that McConnell was able to leave apparently under his own power hurts my soul. My dad has been a good man and citizen his entire life. He did not deserve what happened to him or how it has tragically ruined his sunset years afterwards. I hope he did fracture his hip and is currently in agony. He can consider it acclimation time for his entrance (soon, much sooner than he would like) into hell. I dunno. We need more free speech.
Everything the Left has done in our country since forever has been to destroy the First Amendment to the Constitution - the right to assembly, the right to speak freely, freedom of religion Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. McConnell's no longer the "power player" he once was. He's at *biden levels of competence.
However if he should croak, or resign there will be a fight here in KY over his seat. Reagan's PATCO firings got the attention of leaders around the world. It defined him as bold, not risk-adverse, and willing to do the right thing for his country. The 17th does not explicitly eliminate Recall.
It does not address it all. So. If a State Constitution contains language that allows/codifies recall, it can be tested and it should prevail. Now. Getting a State Executive, like Beshear, to comply is a different concern and may require the State Legislature to bust a Veto. Posted by: garrett at February 05, 2025 02:12 PM (9Q8fk) 444

Posted by: garrett == I have no idea of the background, but if a state constitution says one thing and state law says another, the state constitution wins. The details matter, so I guess someone would have to see the exact language of the constitution. Posted by: Leupold at February 05, 2025 02:15 PM (4pwAx) 456

I'd prefer Nordberg's tumble at Dodger Stadium.
