As USAID Is Shut Down, Politico's Checks to Its Employees Are Delayed.
This May Not Be a Coincidence -- USAID Is Funding the Anti-Trump/Anti-Conservative Propaganda Mill Politico.

Fathomless corruption, fathomless!

While USAID poured money into censorship outfits with the sole goal of deplatforming conservative outlets and organizing advertising boycotts to drain us of any revenue, they were also paying taxpayer money to leftwing outlets.

I'm serious: I want a class action lawsuit against the government.

Before getting to that: USAID's website now announces to all of its "workers:" You're fired.

Well, a few will be kept around for high-priority projects, but the rest are now terminated.

On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:59 pm (EST) all USAID direct hire personnel will be placed on administrative leave globally, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs. Essential personnel expected to continue working will be informed by Agency leadership by Thursday, February 6, at 3:00pm (EST).

For USAID personnel currently posted outside the United States, the Agency, in coordination with missions and the Department of State, is currently preparing a plan, in accordance with all applicable requirements and laws, under which the Agency would arrange and pay for return travel to the United States within 30 days and provide for the termination of PSC and ISC contracts that are not determined to be essential. The Agency will consider case-by-case exceptions and return travel extensions based on personal or family hardship, mobility or safety concerns, or other reasons. For example, the Agency will consider exceptions based on the timing of dependents' school term, personal or familial medical needs, pregnancy, and other reasons. Further guidance on how to request an exception will be forthcoming.

Thank you for your service.

On to Politico. Apparently they charge a huge amount of money for a "Pro" subscription, and USAID was paying a ton of money to buy these very pricey super-subscriptions.

Why does someone working for USAID paying for Peruvian transgender comic books need a super-expensive subscription to Politico to follow the day-to-day micro-news about the DC bureaucracy?

Is their job wasting taxpayer money, or is their job political activism?

ZeroHedge:

According to government spending tracker website USASPENDING.gov, Politico - which laundered the Hunter Biden '51 intel officials' propaganda during the 2020 election - received up to $27 million (and by some counts $32 million) from various US agencies during the Biden years.

In one instance, roughly $500,000 was spent on 37 Politico 'pro' subscriptions.

Of note, Politico was sold to German media giant Axel Springer (which also owns Business Insider) for $1 billion in 2021, meaning US taxpayer dollars have been flowing to the German media giant to prop up their US propaganda rags.

zerohedge
@zerohedge

So 90% of "subscribers" to left-wing publications like Politico are fake and "taxpayer funded". And then using fake subs to artificially pump up revenue, Politico gets to sell itself to German propaganda giant Axel Springer for $1 billion.

It's not just USAID, either: Biden had the whole government subsidizing these grifters.

More: The government has been subsidizing AP, too.

For years, the media demanded that the government subsidize them. Taxpayers said "No." We were so firm on the point that Democrats never even bothered trying to pass a law.

So Obama and Biden just began giving government money to the leftwing media without troubling to ask the public if they had their consent for this latest wealth-transfer scheme from Republican voters to Democrat voters.

Money is corrosive if you are an idiot. I had a couple supervisors working for me at a site last year. The site required double time (12 hour shifts) on Sundays. Because of the hours, they were making about 6 figures. And spent like it. I kept warning them 'Our job is extremely up and down as far as income. We are brought in to do a job, help the customer fix the problem, then we go away. Do NOT get used to the high income.' They ignored me.

Then the site shut down and they both freaked the fuck out.

What is this Bureau?

An obscure Treasury Department office that manages trillions of dollars in payments for the entire government is the latest flashpoint in President Trump and Elon Musk's war on federal spending.

Why it matters: Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, multiple outlets reported, now has access to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which is essentially a checkbook for the entire federal government.

The most direct effect of Loper was to make the judiciary, not the executive, the final say for what counts as good regulation in the face of statute. It set up a process where outside groups could sue.

The secondary effect is that it makes it a whole lot easier to get rid of regulation and keep it gone. Rescind a ream of regulation? Stroke of a pen.

Get it back?

Lawsuits await.

"So it is extraordinary how much access Elon Musk and his sort of creepy 22 year old henchman have to all of our data, right? They have him. They have information that would allow them to shut down your tax refund, your Medicare payment. They know everything, potentially. They know everything about you and your family and the reality is that this could get dystopian very quickly, that if you were to start, speaking ill of Elon Musk on social media, Elon Musk might be able to stop or delay your tax refund or your mom's Social Security benefit."

When you dig down on the financials for some of these companies receiving “taxpayer” money it reads like a mafia operation.

AWS has a specific set of datacenters called “GovCloud” for government use that costs more than their standard DCs. Ostensibly for compliance reasons.

It’s not even hidden, you can find the prices online.

AWS is a huge money sink, anyway. It’s designed to make it easy to lose track of spending. It’s been a huge pain in every private business I’ve worked in, I’m sure it’s much worse with Federal agencies.

The CIA is very good at what they do. I think they will be able to get themselves out of this pickle unfortunately. They survived the 60s and 70s and the church committee and endless investigations in to whether they killed JFK or not.

But it is good to have confirmation of what we long suspected.

Hollywood won't make it that far is my guess. AI and advances in CGI and computers means that storytellers will no longer have to deal with big media companies as intermediaries. Like this funding ngos to do dirty deeds, everyone who is in the GOP and in the Dems knows about vote fraud but the nasty truth is the GOP uses it in states and counties itself especially for primaries. That means giving the Dems a pass for a margin of fraud in statewide and local races.

No one ever wanted to look...when we had real budgets, I was a new 2LT who had 1 summer of auditing experience with PWC. I was sent to find out how Raytheon was billing the US government $5M for a shutdown defense contract. In the 1st 5 minutes, I found $1.9M never spent that they were billing us for by asking one simple question and asking for the evidence. Needless to say, the trip lasted an hour, they rescinded their request, and sent a corrected, much cheaper one (I think $1.7M total), a month later.

I was 21. 3 months of audit experience. 5 minutes into the 1st meeting.

That's government accounting done by the contractors and the government, even 2+ decades ago...needless to say, I had a good 1st year in my office b/c apparently, this was a miracle.

There is a school of thought that says there is no real Deep State, and that the real problem is the massive weight of government actors and agencies referred to as "The Blob"
The Blob has no real central organization, just basic self interests and a similar self serving goals. The Blob, as all radically decentralized orgs, is very resilient, but also a bit hard to marshal since it has no more centralized command than a slime-mold. If every bit of The Blob was grafting and skimming, then there may have been little understanding of the level of theft going on. WaPo - DEMOCRATS PLAN DRIVE ON WASTE

GOVERNMENTAL EVILS TARGET OF TASK FORCE
March 18, 1991
By Maralee Schwartz

Democrats have decided it is time to show the American public that they, too, care about the evils of waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.

"Republicans have put us in a position that we appear as the party that only cares about spending. We need to change that perception. We have to show that we care about making programs work," said Rep. Byron L. Dorgan (N.D.), chairman of a new Democratic task force on government waste.

And, Dorgan added, "we have to be aggressive." With the exception of investigations of the Defense Department, "where we have been swaggering cowboys on waste," Dorgan said Democrats have been "wallflowers on everything else" when it comes to rooting out waste in government.

Polling data show that the American public has little regard for the commitment of anyone in government to reduce waste and inefficiency in government. But Republicans score higher.

405 No one ever wanted to look...when we had real budgets, I was a new 2LT who had 1 summer of auditing experience with PWC.

About a decade ago I explained to the horde this was about power, and opined that few here must have had much exposure to the super-rich. Because the primary point for most in being extremely rich is being able to flout the law and do degenerate shit, and people who want power to do degenerate shit aren't going to flinch at doing awful things to GET that power in the first place, and therefore tend to accumulate up at that level.

I got roundly mocked in the comments at the time, but I suspect most here have started to understand what is up. There is an entire upper crust that thinks they're fundamentally better than us because they have good scams going, the balls to attempt them, and the luck to get away with it.

479 That little exchange between Trump and Obama at Carter's funeral is taking form.

"We need to talk. Not here. Somewhere private. It's important."

I'm willing to bet Trump told him exactly what he planned to do, and that if he fought it or spoke against it, Trump would go directly after Obama personally. Michelle is skedaddling the marriage to protect her assets. And, today fundraisers are pulling away from Obama citing the divorce, but in all likelihood because or how effective Trump is at exposing all of this and they don't want it attached to them. Obama (and Hillary for that matter) have been extremely complacent and quiet.

Posted by: Reforger at February 05, 2025 01:11 PM (xcIvR)

That is an interesting question. Normally (and by regulation) , the consulate is responsible for passing. out election ballots to US citizens - it was easy to verify citizenship because they had to present their US passports to enter the embassy grounds. Plus the ballots were numbered for the registered number of US citizens in a particular country. A few extra were provided but not many- maybe 20-20. This was the election year job of the American Citizen Services officer.

But since Obama, it is not out of the realm of possibility that ballots were simply shipped to USAID in the pouch for them to distribute without oversight. That is disturbing to contemplate.

631 I'm thinking that Tucker Carlson has personal insight into all this. He was talking about going to parties with past friends who would all insult and chastise Trump. Tucker said his wife used to stick up for Trump, and usually silenced the room when she said something along those lines.

He said that he couldn't understand their animosity because a lot of them were registered Republicans. But, he said, then, it dawned on him. They weren't concerned about Trump's policies. They were concerned that he was an outsider, and his friends were more concerned about going to jail for misappropriation and things along those lines.

I need to find that interview. But, I think he's probably working on something along those lines right now. Keeping an eye on Tucker's next few broadcasts might be interesting.

And is scheduled to through 2026.

634 Bigger questions about Politico:

Why did it fail to cut paychecks so *QUICKLY*? If this is fully because USAID payments were frozen, the date was only about a week ago. The money might be on a monthly basis, but was Politico actually running paycheck-to-paycheck? No reserves or anything?

Also, if Political is owned by a German parent company, where are they in this? Do they just siphon the extra revenues (ignoring expenses/income), and act innocent on the checks not clearing?

Lastly, and a thought process - how many plebians in America were furloughed, laid off, or completely shuttered during the "2 Weeks, Stop Spread" years? Excluding the other horrors the governments (federal and local) inflicted on us, they broke GDP by preventing production.

The freeze is going to break a lot of companies. Though it'd be interesting to see the # of companies, versus the # of employees. And a separate chart for the quantity of employees and the # of companies they were employed at - how many were C-levels at a dozen (!!!) different companies?

635 This all reminds me of the first apartment Mrs. Paco and I lived in after we got married. It was ancient married-student housing at the University of Miami, and low rent in every way. When I'd go into the kitchen at night and turn the light on, I'd see cockroaches scurrying off in every direction. Fortunately, we discovered boric acid. DOGE is MAGA's boric acid.

My guess is that even the GRIFT was being GRIFTED. Somebody was pulling the strings internally, and they were siphoning off funds almost as soon as they were received, never dreaming that the tap would ever get turned off.

639 Lindsay Graham. Don’t believe the stories that he’s only worth a few million. He’s more worth $46m.
Cars:
Ferrari 250 GTO
Shelby GT350
Land Rover Defender
Lincoln Continental
Jaguar XE
He owns an $18m 10k sqft estate in SC.

Forensic audits for all of these grifters.

All of that wealth, all generated on an average salary for his career of....what...$200,000 a year?

Yeah, that's simply not possible.

There's a reason all Hillary's bundlers in the US were Chinese. What was that guys name in California Norman Hsu. Obama, too, had one month where 98% of the $181 Million raised in one month came from donations of each under $200, and therefore not reportable to the FEC. I think all the Dem candidates have been abusing tax payer money for fundraising. Clinton took it a step further and sold influence through the Clinton Foundation.

That's not even the half of it. They ran "anti-racist" campaigns and banned local testing to help the initial spread of the virus, jammed non-senior covid patients into nursing homes, knowingly promulgated bad medical protocols (vents were downright murder), and brutally suppressed known effective treatments.

Then they foisted a shot on everyone with known cancer-causing genes COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THE STATED PURPOSE OF THE SHOT wrapped in gene-therapy delivery shells that they "accidentally" never told the regulators about. The published payload of the shots is not what is actually in the shots and the cat is out of the bag.

Thousands of people need to hang.

For USAID personnel currently posted outside the United States, the Agency, in coordination with missions and the Department of State, is currently preparing a plan, in accordance with all applicable requirements and laws, under which the Agency would arrange and pay for return travel to the United States within 30 days

656 So if by week 3 we were shutting down all the money laundering services, I hope by week 5 Elon's guys have a thorough list of who needs to be jailed and bled of all their resources.

Just shutting things down punishes no one, and will just allow the libs to restart this suit next time they're in power. It also does nothing to try to start and make the US taxpayer whole.

Heck with tariffs, I think if 3-4 of Elon's autist get to work on the real reaping phase, I think we shave off half of our national debt.
