I saw in a local farcebook group that someone had posted a graphic mapping decreases in math and reading scores versus increasing federal expenditures.
Most of the leftist respondents argued that there is no correlation even though it is pretty much inversely linear but the most amusing leftist was the one that argued that the problem is the government won't spend enough money to reduce class sizes - because clearly just another few billion dollars and the states will stop giving raises to the existing teachers and bureaucrats and start hiring more Posted by: 18-1 at February 04, 2025 12:29 PM (t0Rmr) 106

DOGE is developing a roadmap of federal spending. It will detail where every last dollar was spent and who spent it.
I can’t tell you how huge this is. The growth of our federal government into an unresponsive behemoth relied on a lack of transparency, accountability, oversight and management. Congress would just allocate money in huge amounts without any idea where that money went. They never bothered to really take agencies to task or pass audits with this type of detail. Meanwhile Musk and a bunch of twenty something talents, really patriots are doing the job for them. You can blame the agencies themselves and you should. But in the end it is Congress who let this happen and it won’t last unless they get off their lilly white corrupt lazy asses and make sure they watch where the money goes. And that doesn’t mean their favorite causes they write into each bill. Posted by: Vengeance at February 04, 2025 12:31 PM (kCF/A) 128

What's happening is that Trump is acting like he's chief executive of the Executive branch of the federal government. Democrats (and Republicans) were able to act like this to create new functions and regulations at a whim. They've been doing it for decades. This is just the one time since probably Andrew Jackson that a chief executive has chosen to lessen the power of the federal government on balance. --- Every other Republican (including Reagan, except for a few brief moments) acted like they were the manager of the Executive Branch, not the MFing Owner of the F'ing Whole Company. Let's do the IRS next. Except keep a handful of people to collect the tax from every Congressman, Congresswoman, or Senator regardless of party who voted for the spending bills/continuing resolutions from 2007 to now that exploded our national debt from three to thirty-five trillion dollars and as a result should be made to pay an eighty-percent marginal rate with every single penny going to pay down the national debt.

The master stroke was pushing the lie that teachers are "underpaid." They average teacher salary is $70K/year, pretty much the same as median *household* income for families of non-teachers. Ramsey had a big survey of millionaires that he's always touting. Teachers are in the top three professions that create millionaires. Although he pusses out on explaining why, saying that it's because they're planners, ignoring the union benefits, 8-9 month work year, sabbatical years when they can double up on income by getting another job etc Posted by: IllTemperedCur at February 04, 2025 01:07 PM (y9nCu) 438

Sure, as a 23 or so year old should. And then fairly quickly:
Average Salary $52,409 teach.org/missouri (and that probably doesn't include local/county incentives that add up to thousands or tens of thousands of dollars) most districts pay scales include raises around $300-$600 a year, so it takes awhile to get to $52k. A teacher with 10 years experience in most districts will make mid $40s, abit more than $20 an hour.. The average is pulled up by teachers who teach 20+ years. Admins are the ones getting high salaries. Local incentives do not add up to much. Usually a few hundred a year. I get this is a teacher hate thread, and fine, but I roll my eyes at the posts every time that act like teachers nationwide are getting paid like the grifters in large blue cities. Average Salary $52,409 teach.org/missouri and only work 8 months a year not including sabbaticals. Posted by: Maj. Healey It ain't the teachers whose salaries are exploding--it is the full time 365 day admin and support staff. Simply put, more educational spending goes to admin and support staff in personnel salaries and bennies, than the actual teaching staff. The figures are worse in higher ed because of the coolie adjunct and t/a low wages. Tenured teaching staff levels has been dropping for decades. Many researchers at universities are dependent now on grants to keep their jobs because somewhere between 33-50 percent of those are raked off by institutions for slush funds and admin hires. Admin and support staff costs and student expectations of resort living are what is driving the massive increase in higher ed spending, not teaching staff so much because of using coolie labor (adjuncts make anywhere from 3-5k per class with no benefits for example). T/A's make even less when you consider other duties. Then you also have research coolies where post docs and research assistants work for peanuts while the head cheese/moneymaker/grant recipients live very nicely Posted by: whig at February 04, 2025 01:12 PM (ctrM5) 469

Trump can utilize the DOE to cause a lot of damage to the Progressive Education branch of American Marxism. Margaret Brennan: Department of Education is something like 4% of the total Federal Government, why *should* anyone care??
JD 4% Of 7 Trillion. MB: that's only 280 Billion, the USAID spends that on LBTQA operas in Peru !!!! JD: Do you even hear yourself Margaret? Posted by: Adml. Josh Painter, porn star at February 04, 2025 01:31 PM (+L8tT) 511
That short series of video with adult actresses reading classics while someone uses a.... massager.... underneath the table on them is quite interesting. Kudos to alexthechick for finding that gif.

Great essay, Ace. Thanks for your time and effort and analysis..
I like Nicole Shanahan. She is obviously very impassioned. Does anyone know what conditions she is specifically referring to in talking about parents burying their children? Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 04, 2025 02:00 PM (MQJVv) 513
Posted wrong place. Sorry.

Education should just take the money and pass it on to the states to do with as they please.
Re student loans, how about instead of making more and more money available for grants and loans, we make college cheaper? Tuition free if possible? Make it so cheap a kid with a part time job can easily afford it. And make admissions strictly merit based. Posted by: El Mariachi at February 04, 2025 02:27 PM (nLFEI) 515
And the USAID thing may well be the biggest political scandal in American history - we are just starting to learn how many prominent people were bought off using USAID money.
