Maybe a better solution would be to allow recall elections for senators. State legislatures could recall senators before the 17th Amendment, and often did. It helped keep Senators under state government control.
If we can't go back to states having representation in government, at least we can tighten the chain between senators and the people who put them there.

I think the Democrats crossing the Rubicon in the wrong direction moment was when they started messing with people's kids by doubling down on transgenderism. My red pill moment was after the owner of the company I worked passed away and my job changed from running the company to getting it as profitable as possible in 3 years in order for the family to sell it to pay the estate taxes. 55% of that sales price went to the Feds while I and about 20% of the staff lost our jobs after the sale. (I knew I was losing mine because new owners always bring in their own management) A lifetime of work and sacrifice gone so that the government could take some of that to send rubbers to Gaza.
So, if this red pills them, they usually become the ones that fight the hardest.

People don’t exercise either, and that’s fully on them. But the crap we allow to be used in the foods that a lot of people eat is inexcusable. RFK is right. Inform people how bad some of this garbage is for you. Help them understand it affects your health along with your lifestyle. Now it’s all very one sided where they hide the ill effects of crap and then act surprised years later when it’s a major contributor to disease and obesity. It’s upside down now. You can’t tell me any benefits that corn syrup and seed oils have other than enriching Big Ag. That crap is in every product unnecessarily. It is in everything. Besides any claimed metabolic difference in how it is used by the body, different from sucrose at least, it is cheap, and it covers up the lack of flavor in food due to restrictions on fats and proteins.
A lawyer I knew used to fatten his steers up on crappy hay doused with molasses because the steers didn't like the crappy hay. That is what HFC is used for.
Also it goes in sweet drinks and is still really cheap, so you wind up drinking incredible amounts of calories, and you don't feel satiated, so you keep drinking.

The science doesn't support the idea that HFCS is worse than other sugars like Sucrose. There's some support for the idea it may possibly increase your appetite slightly. Americans get too much HFCS in their diets because they eat too much. If HFCS was magically removed tomorrow and replaced with Sucrose and all else remained the same, I'm confident the average American's health would be unimpacted.

AC in homes wasn't as commonplace in the 60's and 70's as it is now, so when the warmer months come around, those 5 extra pounds our bodies put on during the winter don't feel the need to shed themselves off. So, we get stuck with them over the summer into fall when we put on the next 5 for the winter months. Your body does that enough, and in 10-15 years you are hitting 3 bills.

I think the lack of kids just being kids has a LOT to do with it. As a yute, especially during the summer months, my parents saw me for breakfast and after dark.
Kids can't do that anymore with the overabundance of sick-o's and illegal criminals kidnapping and trafficking children everywhere. Parents are overly scared to let their kids go unsupervised. I know I was when my young daughter was playing sports. I didn't like her out of my sight.

I still believe that it correlates with the rise in home air conditioning. AC in homes wasn't as commonplace in the 60's and 70's as it is now, so when the warmer months come around, those 5 extra pounds our bodies put on during the winter don't feel the need to shed themselves off. So, we get stuck with them over the summer into fall when we put on the next 5 for the winter months. Your body does that enough, and in 10-15 years you are hitting 3 bills.

Maybe a better solution would be to allow recall elections for senators. State legislatures could recall senators before the 17th Amendment, and often did. It helped keep Senators under state government control.
If we can't go back to states having representation in government, at least we can tighten the chain between senators and the people who put them there.

There may be some beer or booze mixed in there, but still, lbs. shed.
I'll gain them back because I like food. And beer. And work doesn't require this much effort all the time.

Dealing with the finances of your elderly parent is no fun and it's not like one is paid for the privilege, either.

Thank you very much. Step-mom called at 22:00 the other night and was asking where her car was so she could check out and go home. I reminded her she's there for her own safety and I really had no control over any of it since her daughter has power of attorney everything. She was pissed and hung up.
Sorry, but it's really for your own safety and well being until the inevitable happens.

It is. My MIL was living at home by herself until this past June when she fell and broke her hip. Luckily she had put my wife on her bank accounts, but she wouldn't do a POA. At the rehab facility they said she was incapable of making decisions, so now she is going to court in a couple of weeks to be named guardian. It is a nightmare.
Oh, and for those "Medicare For All!" assholes, wait until they find out how little medicare will actually cover. They think a 90 year old woman just needs a couple of weeks of therapy for a broken hip.

A lot of theater in the DC game. Easy to tell what's real and not, because we've all had years of practice seeing it. Look for action and not talk. Look for things that aren't staged and arranged. No more strongly-worded letters, and more 5 AM raids. And don't tip off CNN. Let them find out like everyone else.

I think to some older conservatives the issues of food additives contributing to obesity sounds like hippie dippie granola type stuff (just don't eat it then!), but I'm glad to see that is getting to be the minority position and more people are starting to question what is in our food, and why.

When I was young (grew up in the 50's, 60's) people, dad included, worked in factories. Moms, sometimes, as well. Kids ran around outside, summer or winter. Jobs were primarily labor intensive. Now, we take in the same amount of calories, but sit on our asses at a desk all day behind a keyboard. Kids no longer have Physical Ed classes (pushed by JFK, by the way), and spend their time either in from of a computer or the TV. There was NO snack food in our house back in the day, or soda. Considered a waste of money, money that needed to be spent on actual food. Lack of physical activity and lack of control is the biggest problem.

I remember visiting a friend when she had her first kid and she also had acquired "Mom-Dar" where she would focus with laser precision on any small child in view to analyze them.
It was also funny when my late sister had her kids and she acquired the "Mom Voice" and accidentally caught my younger brother in the blast radius.

Not an RFK jr. fan myself, but dear lord I appreciate his ability to make the Democratic senators act like unhinged lunatics.
I would say, overall, Trump cabinet picks and these hearings have significantly damaged the Dem brand. Every one of these lunatic Senators should have ads against them in the next election, highlighting their idiocy.
And Rand Paul - shesh. That guy just laid it out, that they were being unreasonable and asking stupid questions.
I think it is time to dispense with these performative hearings - have the candidate meet with all 50 senators individually, for as long as they like, then vote.
