Some of these aren't appointed but go through the hiring process. He's fired a few of them, too.
But yes, it's been established and accepted that the president has the authority to fire political appointees, up to the cabinet, since about 1870 or so. Andrew Johnson's impeachment articles are mostly stupid garbage, but the first point was about him firing a cabinet official, an action SCOTUS said a little bit after the impeachment effort failed was perfectly legal.

But yes, the judicial branch should not be the last word on constitutionality. That role is nowhere in the constitution itself.
It's a battle of three branches, mostly between two of them.
However, aggressive action now doesn't mean that they won't kowtow to judicial decree later.

One of the more mortifying events in my life was when I was a passenger in a co-workers car. We were pulling out of a gas station and he yelled at some high school/ college-aged girl, "Nice ass!". Traffic was such that he couldn't immediately pull out, and she came over and berated him with all the swears she knew. I shrank into my seat and watched him get humiliated by a "little girl". He definitely deserved it and I told him so later.

I suppose the idea of the non-partisan part of government stems from the lie of the non-partisan administrative state.
For over a hundred years, civil service laws have been used to protect civil servants from firing for any reason. So, they're seen as not political because political figures can't fire them.
Except...it's a bastardization of the very nature of what government is supposed to be in a constitutional republic. If government is apolitical, that means that it is free from influence by the body politic: the People. Which makes it unAmerican.

Yeah, even today's announcement, it sure does sound like "it was test flights/weather balloons" sort of answer.
Some were saying the drones were specifically looking for something, like a dirty bomb, or something else real and deadly, but I guess if that's the case, they might not want to announce it.

It's because Stalinism wasn't textbook Marxism. It wasn't essential Marxism, or pure Marxism. And it wasn't.

Also, Engels said that because the "State" was the means of oppressing the underclass, all the State has to do is say it is not oppressing the underclass and the "State" has .... "withered away".
So, there doesn't need to be a next step in the Dictatorship (In The Name) Of the Proletariat. The State, as authority, simply insists that it is no longer oppressing the underclass, and, by Engels, it's not a state.
There is much WTF about Marxism.

I was promised by now that I'd be assigned a new husband (free divorce!) who would give me a good weinering regularly, that I could quit my job, stay at home with my kids, cook in the kitchen, with a pantry loaded with lunch meats and other fixin's.
And free clothes, nice new robes to wear.
And get to go to camp--I never got to go to sleep-away camp as a kid--with like-minded folk.
I've got none of that!
