Good morning kids. President Donald Trump's magnificent first week continues to make all the right wrong heads explode, especially when it comes to the numero uno issue that gave him an unqualified landslide victory this past November, the destruction of anything resembling sane immigration policy by the intentional erasure of our border and concomitant erosion of our internal security, safety and as intended by those who did this starting well before Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants Biden and his handlers kicked it into overdrive, our national identity as a society and culture.

First we have overstuffed greasy burrito Ana Navarro whose synapses, composed of two lipid masses colliding like Haystacks Calhoun into Paul Prudhomme actually created this spark!

I believe the word you're looking for, genius is "deterrence." And as we know, or at least most of us were taught, if you do something wrong, you are going to get punished. From a spanking, to being grounded all the way up to the electric chair. At least, that's how it used to work until Leftists thought one way to achieve utopia meant decriminalization of crime - that and making any opposition to their quest for absolute power a crime against humanity. 100 million martyred souls in just over 100 years (and counting!) is proof positive of that observation.

New York City, Chicago and Boston are among the sanctuary cities collapsing after waves of migrants stormed across the open borders. Even cities that once boasted of providing sanctuary to illegal aliens from federal immigration enforcement are now running away from the name.
Sanctuary cities were always intended to be destructive. They were not, as many Democrats now wrongly claim, about providing safe harbor to refugees, but about bringing down America.
The sanctuary cities did not emerge in response to the Holocaust, the Rwandan genocide or any actual genocide, but to provide support and sanctuary for Marxists fleeing the civil wars they had started in Latin America, and then later for Islamic terrorists after September 11.
Sanctuary cities were not about helping refugees, but about harboring America’s enemies. . .
. . . The larger agenda had less to do with refugees and more to do with aiding Marxist revolutions. . .
. . . The sanctuary movement was smuggling migrants and then publicly announcing it to undermine the Reagan administration’s foreign policy and challenge American opposition to Communism.

US Border Patrol agents and suspected Mexican cartel members traded gunfire near the southern border Monday as a group of migrants tried to enter the US illegally, according to a report.
The shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. near Fronton, Texas, but no injuries were reported, Customs and Border Protection said in a statement without revealing more details.
A group of migrants were trying to cross the Rio Grande when shots first rang out, according to Fox News. Border patrol agents then returned fire at suspected cartel members, Fox News reporter Bill Melugin tweeted earlier Monday, citing law enforcement sources.
The scene where the shooting took place remains active with the Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility, DHS Office of Inspector General, the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety all involved in the probe, Customs and Border Protection said Monday night.
The shooting comes as President Trump makes cracking down on illegal immigration and fortifying the southern border an early hallmark of his second term in the Oval Office.
US officials said last week the Pentagon would start shipping up to 1,500 active duty troops to the Mexican border to join about 2,200 US National Guard and Reserve personnel already in place.
Trump was also considering sending up to 10,000 troops to the border as part of the country’s effort to seal the borders, the Washington Post reported last week.

Putting aside however many tens of thousands of the more than 40 million illegal aliens already in country are dangerous violent criminals and/or terrorists, the fact is that Mexico or at least large swathes of its territory are controlled by narco-terrorists and that in and of itself presents a grave national security threat that President Trump's response vis a vis sending our military to the border is wholly appropriate and in keeping with his oath of office.

Regardless of whether or not you're merely an illiterate peasant coming here to pick lettuce or a drug or human trafficker coming here to rape, murder and pillage, if mass deportations, the deploying of our military to the border and if need be the use of deadly force to stop this makes even one foreigner from even daring to dip a toe into the Rio Grande, then Ana Navarro, you have proven the point!

On another front, which is getting little coverage because of the border, Donald Trump has proposed some intriguing solutions that can address not only our insane national debt but the metastasis of an ever intrusive and oppressive bureaucracy that threatens our prosperity and liberty that are of course linked.

President Trump has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to making America great again by proposing a return to the economic policies that once made the United States the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the world, namely ending the federal income tax.
In a speech Monday evening, Trump outlined his vision for reviving America's economic golden age through a strategic use of tariffs, a policy that has historically proven to be immensely beneficial for the country.
Trump began by emphasizing the potential for rapid economic growth, stating, "America is going to be very rich again and it's going to happen very quickly." It raises questions that we here have debated and discussed for a long time. Namely, what is supposed to be the purpose of the federal government and what are we willing to cede to it in the name of our safety and security, personal and national? It is one thing, and indeed a very good thing to pay down the national debt that will one day destroy us. That is if erased borders and naked tyranny in and out of government doesn't turn the next generation into brainwashed zombies as it did perhaps much of the last two or three.

You've got to pay the debt and the current deficit for the benefit of our kids and grandkids. Budget year right now is 2T+ in the hole, and even if Elon cuts 100% discretionary spending, it's still $.5-1T in the hole.

We don't need to worry about it paying for expanded government or even current government. We've got to pay for the SS and Medicare and disasters we already overspent on in the past...if the interest on the debt doesn't come down, we won't have a budget to make anymore...

Even if it isn't enough for 100% of our funding it could definitely make a huge contribution and then some sort of consumption tax could be used to provide extra. 142 An income tax has always been constitutional under the general taxing power of Congress. All the 16A does is remove the apportionment requirement.

In a nutshell, a stupid SCOTUS ignored a shit ton of precedent and said that now magically income from property (rent, etc) had to be apportioned, but income from labor didn't. So the 16A exists to remove that requirement.

I also saw yesterday that amid all of this was a call for a gold standard. That tells me none of this is serious.

USAID basically IS the CIA. It's the organization that is used to launder billions on behalf of the CIA and their partner the State Dept.

Look at any Color Revolution and you will see USAID. Same with things like pandemic response. Same with censorship.

USAID is officially under the State Dept. but unofficially so is the CIA. They work as a team just like the DOJ and FBI does domestically. And when needed the money flows through back channels and made up groups like CISA to handle domestic censorship and election corruption. It's a giant snake pit and hundreds of billions could be saved gutting that group.

From the rough numbers I have seen is that to 20k new IRS agent (not 87k) brought in about $65k per hire.

Also, since several generations of public education have failed to teach the basics in budgeting, and this is obvious in the numbers of people who aren't liquid enough for a $500 emergency, more money would be spent collecting than in using what is collected.

My father had a good friend who was in the Dominican Republic in 1965 as part of USAID and returned with horror stories about the corruption. He was an anti-Communist and former Hungarian resistance fighter, and went on to expose massive CIA-colluding corruption in Vietnam. He wrote a book documenting all this, made quite a splash at the time. Even testified before Congress.

Yesterday we get a letter from the US Treasury informing us that our 2021 taxes have been amended due to a "Recovery Rebate Credit."

The Senate has a bunch of stupid things that they do. One is that any Senator can put a one-time, one-week hold on a nominee in committee. Schiff did that to Bondi so the committee cannot meet on her nomination until tomorrow.

Once she gets voted out they'll schedule floor debate, vote for cloture (in which the usual suspects will vote with the Dems), start a 30 hour clock before the actual vote...

In theory, these things exist so that someone can get more time for debate and try to move things in their direction but the Senate hasn't been a deliberative body in decades, at least.

A direct tax is a tax on property, and the clause mentioned is the apportionment requirement tjat such taxes have to be such in proportion to the population.

Tax on income was held to be an indirect tax until SCOTUS decided that income derived from property had the apportionment requirement. 16A removes that requirement.

With apples, up until a few years ago it was lodging, food and fifty dollars a day locally.

The last couple years I've seen a lot of unharvested apples on the trees and on the ground.

I've also noticed orchards taking a different form; instead of familiar tree forms, there is a narrow, vine-like apple bearing tree supported by wire and irrigation hose, I'm guessing for automated tending and harvesting.

I think we are inundated by short, mostly useless web articles because:
A. Regular writers at bigger websites are under contract to deliver X number of articles per week.
B. Articles by contract-writers and independent writers must be at least X number of words and must be no greater than Y number of words. Y is about 1,000 words. Or less. This is due to the short attention spans of more and more people, and more short articles generate more clicks and ad clicks than fewer long articles.

This I really liked the idea of. The more you buy, the more tax you pay. Encourages budgeting. Hard to avoid. Think of how simple the tax enforcement would be. All that paper saved. All the supporting industries for Tax Inc go the fuck away. No filing. You can't accidently do it wrong.

And since they are voluntary they are easy to punish and reform when they fail at whatever reason they exist for.

If Acme Car makes crappy cars people will go get cars elsewhere. If the Free Mason Shriner Elks are supposed to help widows and orphans and spend the money instead on hookers and blow people will stop volunteering for them and so on.

But in socialist systems it is almost impossible to do this - when you have an organization like the WHO, or Trabant or whatever, the argument is you need an organization like this so why dissolve the existing one even if it has failed. Just give them more resources/power/training...right? And that means there is almost never any incentive to ever actually deliver on whatever the organization is supposed to be doing.

386 I know it surprises people, and I know we all for the most part understand. But yes, it is true a very high percentage of Hispanic immigrants to the US. Cannot read or write Spanish. There’s a reason American schools and libraries are taxed beyond belief here. We let in a hoard of people and somehow we are supposed to fix them.

I remember many Spanish language classes in high school and college with native Hispanics who did much worse than I did. They could chat in the language, but they couldn’t read or write it.

398 I quit my mainline church a couple of years ago. I posted about it here on this site. The main line churches are ruins, they are no longer actual churches. Half of their congregate have left and the smart ones took the churches with him. My particular church was overtaken, and the good people died of natural causes.
