Socialist President of Colombia Gets Roar of Approval from Anti-American, Pro-Crime Media For Refusing to Take Back His Criminals
And Then He Folds

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Did the leftwing media and their dead-ender viewers praise the evil socialist tyrant of Colombia for standing up to Trump and demanding that Colombia's pedophiles, rapists, and murderers be permitted to continue committing crimes in America!

The Walls Were Closing In On Trump, again! Seemed like old times were back!

But then Trump announced punished and ever-escalating tariffs and other penalties for Colombia.

Now the Colombian president is sending his own plane to pick up his citizens.

Trump has saved us the cost of jet fuel for the flights! Huzzah!

Colombian President Gustavo Petro swiftly backtracked on his refusal to accept deportation flights from the United States after President Donald Trump threatened tariffs and other measures.

The White House confirmed on Sunday that Colombia's president had caved "to all of President Trump's terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay,"

"Based on this agreement, the fully drafted IEEPA tariffs and sanctions will be held in reserve, and not signed, unless Colombia fails to honor this agreement," the statement said. "The visa sanctions issued by the State Department, and enhanced inspections from Customs and Border Protection, will remain in effect until the first planeload of Colombian deportees is successfully returned."

"Today's events make clear to the world that America is respected again," the statement added. "President Trump will continue to fiercely protect our nation's sovereignty, and he expects all other nations of the world to fully cooperate in accepting the deportation of their citizens illegally present in the United States."

Earlier in the day Sunday, Gustavo appeared to fold almost immediately after Trump threatened to punish the country for refusing deportation flights. Gustavo offered his presidential plane to repatriate migrants coming back from the U.S.

Trump told Fox News Petro did a total about-face after his tariff threat.

In a statement translated from Spanish, the Colombian government said the plane will help facilitate a "dignified return."

"The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights," the translated statement read.

Harry Sisson, the sissfluencer born with a silver dick in his mouth, was so excited!

Meanwhile: ICE rounded up nearly another thousand wanted criminal aliens just on Sunday.

In a high-profile enforcement push, ICE reported 956 arrests of illegal aliens across the country on Sunday, with 554 detainers lodged for individuals deemed removable under federal immigration law. These arrests, concentrated in the southeastern United States, reflect President Trump's intensified focus on border enforcement and public safety.

The Miami ICE field office revealed details about five of those arrested. Among them were two Dominican nationals in Puerto Rico, one facing domestic violence charges and the other charged with driving under the influence. A Nicaraguan national in Florida was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while a Jamaican resident was taken into custody for possession of oxycodone and firearms charges. Another individual, a Mexican national, was detained for multiple DUIs and other traffic offenses.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, the Miami ICE office stated, "#ICE protects America by enforcing US immigration laws to preserve national security & public safety."

The upper classes are too reliant on the slave labor of the illegals and don't realise their bare backsides are hanging out for all to see.

That's not a fair analysis. As a nation, we had mostly given up on tariffs before Trump came along.

And obviously there is no justification for our government to be as big as it has become. Once we started with a broad base income tax it was always just a matter of turning up the rates to pay for an ever increasing government.

But it does explain why those who want an ever increasing government want taxes over tariffs.

Government is a necessary evil, and you have to fund it somehow.

Even if we magically cut the budget to the bone, there is no practical way to fund a government on tariffs alone.

Even if we went back to the federal budget of 2004 of slightly under 3T dollars, we would have to raise tariffs to ludicrous levels to pay for it with tariffs alone.

Tariffs are not about funding anything at this point, they are simply hammers.

I mean, what are you going to fund with 77B dollars except Hunter Bidens annual hooker and cocaine bill?

Beer, wine, and hard liquor sales all declined in 2024, with some blame going toward the restaurant business being bad.

According to my pot-adjacent neighbor, Michigan dispensaries are down as well, but high THC content has led to a lower consumption per-use. A pre-roll (joint) is now sold for about the same as a single high end IPA or low end vino, and will last for a week, which is longer than a Val-u-rite Vodka fifth will last in my mansion.

250 >>Government is a necessary evil, and you have to fund it somehow.

>>Even if we magically cut the budget to the bone, there is no practical way to fund a government on tariffs alone.

As I pointed out, the US relied almost exclusively on tariffs for much of our early existence. It was literally one of the very first acts by our first Congress. And we became the industrial behemoth of the world.

And then they started going out of fashion when we got an income tax on top of all the other taxes we now pay.

You keep using the 77 billion number but that is a bad number to use because the government stopped really aggressively using them in the early 1900s when we started relying on tax dollars from US citizens. Also helps explain why we have been getting screwed in trade deals for decades. Other countries still use them liberally.

Trump didn't just pull the tariff idea out of his ass. This country was built on tariffs.

Let's for arguments sake say you were able to cut waste and the dead wood from the budget and whittle it down to 3.5T or roughly half of what it is now, you would need a 50x increase in our current levels of tariff levy's to cover it.

Point of information.

The 16A does not create an income tax. It removes an apportion requirement from one. A really stupid SCOTUS ruling ignoring all precedent said that a tax on income from labor is one thing, but a tax on income from property (eg rent, etc) had to be apportioned. So to solve the issue, the amendment was added.

In reality, Congress has always had the power to impose an income tax based on its general taxing authority.

Yes. Terrible songwriting. Contains "we'll make it I swear" and "it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not"

So does it matter or not? Can't be both.

I have posted this before, but the Natives along the Yukon used to say there are three types of non-Natives: White men, Black White Men, and Swedes.

I figure there's a reason they differentiated.

354 The whole current brouhaha reminds me of the movie Green Card with Andie MacDowell and Gerard Depardieu. The poor Frenchman had to convince ICE people that he and Andie married for love so he could get permanent residency. Just 35 years later and the illegals seem to have more legal protections than ICE workers.

355 >>And while the talking class focuses on that, Trump is free to negotiate other things off the radar. He wrote about it.

Ya, I read it. This is something Trump wants to do. The only issue is whether he will be successful.

If you are looking for a chewie, ask yourself why Trump decided to insert Mt McKinley into the debate.

McKinley was probably the last big Republican president who was supporter of tariffs before Trump.

357 Someone explained to the socialist, that in exchange for not taking back a few dozen of his people, the economy of Columbia would probably collapse.

These idiots, generally speaking, don't realize how easy the U.S. has made their lives, and how much of their prosperity flows out of us.

A lot of this has to do with remittances from the U.S to these countries. Tax them, by 25%.

Assumes facts not in evidence. Trump talks big. He throws a lot out there. Sorting the sincerity from the distractions is challenging, which he takes advantage of.

Simple fact that unless one is in his inner circle, it's very difficult to know what he's thinking and what he's serious about.

Consider that this wouldn't be a simple repeal of the 16A but a modification of the general taxing authority of the Congress (and the two are not the same). The depth of the effort required tends to belie the simple statement of getting rid of it such that its sincerity past being a talking point is questionable. IMO of course.

Again, given history going back since Bush I, a healthy dose of doubt is a good thing to have.
