suburban-men-rise-and-shine-outdoors-camping-hiking-hunting-fishing-20230119-114.jpg

*****

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Hope everyone down south has their snow shoveling duties out of the way.

Before we enter the Prayer Revival just a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Wakefield)

1) This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2) Be kind, be nice. And no jumping on the furniture.
3) Running with sharp objects? Do you feel lucky?
4) Have a great weekend!

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

12/14 – Jewells is still in a lot of pain. The drain was put in on 12/11. She was supposed to receive a sedative and medication for pain while they worked, and she received nothing. She felt everything and it hurt like hell. It also hurts when it is being drained, and that is daily for the first week. She has a great home health nurse coming in now, and she has shown Jewell’s daughter and husband how to do it.
1/18 Update – Jewells saw the ortho doc, and she should be able to get a shot 1/29. Her arms are still very painful all the time. She can barely use her left arm at all. She spends most of her day in bed. She will see the oncologist 2/5 and will get a scan. She says she has to admit she gets very depressed.

12/21 – AZ deplorable moron asked for prayers. His first cataract surgery went well and his right eye’s vision is much improved. The left eye, not so much. Infection set in and he’s had steroids and antibiotics constantly for 3 weeks. They don’t know how much vision he will have when it has healed.
12/28 Update – Annie’s Stew apologizes for guessing incorrectly the sex of AZ deplorable moron. His pronouns have been corrected above.
1/4 Update – He has 20/200 vision in his left eye now. He can see the world, but it is dimmer than what the right eye sees. There is also a big dark spot where he focuses.

12/21 – Sugar Plum Fairy requested prayers for her brother-in-law, M, who found out yesterday that he has leukemia. He is only in his mid-thirties and his daughter is 2. He is heading to the hospital for 6 weeks on 12/23 for testing. Please pray for strength for his wife and mother who are in shock and understandably devastated. And for good doctors and total healing if it is God’s will.
1/18 Update – Thank you to all who prayed for her brother-in-law. The last test showed no signs of leukemia! He is not out of the woods yet, but they are giving thanks to God and all the prayers surrounding him! Also, prayers for a safe inauguration day for President Trump and all those in DC.

12/25 – Molly k asked for prayers. This will be a different Christmas. Mr. k passed away on 12/22. Luckily the girls and grandkids were home. He passed at home, holding their oldest granddaughter’s hand. Christmas will be fun for the “littles” but tough for the rest. 12/26 is the funeral and she is dreading it, but will do her best to make it the best day possible and be thankful for the real meaning of Christmas.

12/25 – vmom deport deport deport asked for prayers for her brother-in-law in the hospital, and for her sister, who is looking out for him.

12/26 – Joe Kidd requested a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s quiet resolution to a problem his younger (and last remaining) sibling was having with a roommate. She suffers from bipolar disorder and tends to make poor decisions when difficulties arise. Communication with her on Christmas indicated that God’s wisdom prevailed on all concerned. Praise Him!

12/28 – LF asked for prayers for success for her daughter’s open heart surgery, to repair an aortic weakness. The surgery should happen around Valentine’s Day. Her daughter is only 48.

12/28 – JW suggested the following Jewish Prayer of Faith for Healing:
JEWISH PRAYER OF FAITH FOR HEALING
Merciful God, we pray to you for the recovery of all who are facing illness or pain.
We join our prayers with all who love them. Grant them renewed strength and courage. Strengthen in them the healing powers You have placed within us all. Guide the hearts and hands of those who are entrusted with their care.
Help all who share the anxiety of this illness to be brave and hopeful.
Inspire us with courage and faith. Grant your blessings to all who call upon you.
Oh God, who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; Sarah, Rebekkah, Leah, and Rachel, send your blessings to all who are ill.
Have mercy on them, and graciously restore their health and strength.
Grant them a complete recovery.
May healing come speedily.
May the knowledge of Your love and ours give added hope to them and to their dear ones.
May they find even greater strength because our prayers are linked to theirs.
When pain and fatigue are our companions, let there be room in our hearts for strength.
When days and nights are filled with darkness, let the light of courage find its place.
Help me to endure the suffering and dissolve the fear; renew within me the calm spirit of trust and peace.
We praise You, Eternal God, the Source of healing and health.

12/28 – Farmer sent thanks for the prayers for healing for his dad and for Jules. Dad is out of the hospital and is recovering. Jules’ recovery is remarkable. After surgery for a perforated ulcer, which caused severe septic shock, she was close to death. After 49 days in the hospital, she went to rehab on 12/27!

1/4 – Smell the Glove asked for prayers for an 80 year old aunt. The aunt was diagnosed with colon cancer and started treatment this week.

1/4 – vmom deport deport deport asked for prayers for her eldest sister. It looks like her illness is cancer.
1/12 Update – Please keep praying. Her sister has stage 4 breast cancer.

1/4 – Black Orchid requested prayers for a good friend whose brother is critically ill with possible brain cancer. Black Orchid also offered a prayer of thanksgiving for quick healing of a painful wrist.

1/4 – Chris in California asked for prayers for a son who is having sensory/smell/taste issues that are troubling. They ask for healing for his body, and that he would receive the Lord’s guidance in his mind and heart.

1/4 – San Franpsycho asked for prayers for the repose of Rose, the mother of one of his kindergarten buddies.

1/4 – Tonypete requested prayers for his congregation. They are mostly elderly, and there are a raft of viruses, colds, etc. going around now.

1/4 – Eromero thanked God for his mysterious ways. His friend broke his hip, and 2 days later they removed his gall bladder, which was verging on gangrene. May God also perform wonders on the loved ones on this list, and may He also free America from DC as He freed the Hebrew children from their Egyptian oppressors.

1/10 – Village Idiot’s Apprentice asked for prayers for his cousin, who was having triple bypass surgery.
1/11 Update – The surgery went “superbly”. Thank you all for your prayers.

1/11 – Our Country is Screwed asked for prayers. He is having a double mastectomy. (He notes: Yes, male breast cancer is a thing!) He is fortunate that it appears to be localized. Another request is for an aunt (age 70+) who is facing lung cancer and having part of her lung removed. She is scared and needs prayers too.
1/18 Update – Our Country is Screwed sent thanks for all the prayers. His surgery is scheduled for 1/27.

1/15 – Sponge gave an update on his wife. She met with the radiation oncologist, and he used the word “cure”, so she is pretty happy about that. She has a couple more chemo treatments to go.

1/16 – Mental Block asked for prayers of thanksgiving upon completing all 28 radiation treatments for prostate cancer with minimal, temporary side effects. He also asks for continued prayers for healing as his hormone therapy continues for an additional four months.

1/16 – Pookysgirl asked for prayers for Lil Pooky, who was scheduled for hernia surgery on 1/20.
1/20 Update – The surgery went well and he’s already mostly back to his normal self.

1/18 – Hadrian the Seventh shared good news. The pain in his shoulder has been correctly diagnosed, so he can keep the discomfort at bay. He’s also receiving physical therapy. Now he can take on professional computer assignments again.

1/18 – rhennigantx updated the Horde, that his friend Tim, who had a stoke in the spring, died about 10 days ago. He kept getting infections in the feeding tubes.

1/18 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for Chris, the new husband of a friend of hers. They have been married since the summer, and are nice conservatives and Catholics. He is hospitalized with a high fever and urinary issues, which he has had a long time.

1/18 – Sock Monkey offered praise to our Lord. A year after a large cancerous growth was found on his spine. The prognosis was not good. After a nine hour surgery, chemo, therapy, and lots of prayers throughout the year, he was pronounced cancer free last week. He wanted to say thanks to the Lord and to the Horde for the prayers.

1/18 – Madame Mayhem asked for prayers for her niece’s husband, who had a mini heart attack. He’s around 32 years old, and works like a dog at his dad’s construction business.

1/18 – Jrgunn77 requested prayers for health, which was fine a few months ago, but recently has been his with extremely high BP spikes, anxiety attacks, constant headaches, and hernia troubles. Jrgunn is on meds for the BP and anxiety, scheduled for a colonoscopy, and has referrals for a cardiologist and neurologist. These out of the blue anxieties are the worst. Jrgunn also asked for prayers for a friend from church, Rodney, who has recently suffered lung failure and is on oxygen, to come home from the hospital, and Pastor Ben and his brother, for comfort after the passing of their little sister from drug addiction.

1/18 - MkY asked for prayers for his wife, who was diagnosed with stage IV renal cancer last week, out of the blue. They ask for prayers, not that their own will be done, but that God’s is, and that he is merciful.

1/18 - Teresa in Fort Worth said she could use some more Horde prayers. She had a CT scan on Monday. The largest tumor has not increased, but at least 4 others have quadrupled in volume, despite 2 rounds of chemo. Her third round of chemo stats on Wednesday. So far, she’s had exceptionally light nausea which has been controlled with medication, which is a blessing.
1/21 Update – the news is less than encouraging. The current chemo regimen does not appear to be working. There are a LOT more satellite tumors in her liver, and all of them are growing. There are new treatment options planned, but ultimately, it looks like the best case scenario is that she has 1-2 years left. If she doesn’t do the proposed treatment, they would be looking at 3-6 months at most. She said this is kind of what she thought was going to be the outcome. It sucks, but she knows the timeline, and is determined to make the most of the time that she has left.

1/18 – Hrothgar’s daughter updated the Horde that there was a complication in his surgery, and he is in the ICU. She asked that we please keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
1/22 Update – Hrothgar is out of ICU, started on PT, and is able to take more nutrition. His condition is much improved. His family thanks everyone for their prayers. It has meant so much to them.

1/22 – Skip and his family could use some prayers. His mother’s brother has only a few days left. He has been in a VA hospital the last few years, after a stroke.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

20 The Lord Jesus, who went about doing good works and healing sickness and infirmity of every kind, commanded his disciples to care for the sick, to pray for them, and to lay hands on them. In this, we shall entrust our sick brothers and sisters to the care of the Lord, asking that he will enable them to bear their pain and suffering in the sure knowledge that they will share in the Lord's power to give comfort and strength.

God of all goodness, Look with mercy on all who suffer any kind of infirmity, sickness or injury, that they may be comforted. Let your hand of healing and protection be upon them. When they are fearful, ease their fear and anxieties. When they are afraid, give them strength and courage. When they feel alone, send them someone to listen and to care. When they are confused, provide reassurance and direction. When they are in pain, ease their suffering. When they despair, give them hope. May they experience your healing presence in the comfort of a caregiver’s calm gaze and tender touch. We ask this in your holy name.

O Merciful GOD our Father, we ask your blessings upon our brothers and sisters who suffer from the cares of this world. Help us to remember that this vale of tears is a place we are passing through and not our final destination. Remind us, O Lord, that you have prepared in heaven a home when our earthly labors are finished. In a place of no tears or sorrows, but joyous reunion with loved ones and most of all, with You. Grant us today love to share with those who don’t know You, that they can have a peaceful heart.

Greetings, Grammie ... So glad to hear about Rev's upcoming procedure ... Protein should help the healing process, but it can be a challenge to get enough while on a "gentle" diet ... So, you might want to consider stirring baby food meats into mashed potatoes ... Those little jars can be bought by the case (boxes of 12) and the pre-made mashed potatoes (like Bob Evans brand) have a good amount of flavor to hide the "blah" of the baby food meats ... Just a suggestion.

62 Good morning Mis Hum and Horde
I would have sent in prayer request but haven't been feeling very good.
Thursday My uncle passed away. He is brother to my mom and was a Vietnam War Vet. He has surviving 3 sisters and a daughter. Funeral will be Thursday

63 I would have saved this for a music thread but this involves Zappa which automatically drags MisHum into the discussion because he has Zappa issues.

In 1968, The Shaggs, comprised of three sisters, cut their masterwork Philosophy of the World, and became legend. The origin of the band begins with with their grandmother prophesying that their father would have three daughters and they would become the greatest band on the planet.

Dad never deviated from doing everything he could to fulfill this prophecy even persevering when a shady record producer, hired by dad, proclaimed The Shaggs an utter disaster. And so their masterwork came to be with 1000 copes pressed of which the shady record producer absconded with 900 copies. Lost to history is this theft was done with a sense of civic duty.

Frank Zappa after hearing this masterpiece declared them better than The Beatles. History is silent if Zappa was high when he issued this proclamation for the ages.

64 So, you might want to consider stirring baby food meats into mashed potatoes ... Those little jars can be bought by the case (boxes of 12) and the pre-made mashed potatoes (like Bob Evans brand) have a good amount of flavor to hide the "blah" of the baby food meats ... Just a suggestion.

When Trump announced on the campaign trail that Covid refusers would be reinstated with back pay, I paid little attention to it, because two conditions had to be met: Trump had to win, and he had to keep his promise.

Since then, he won, and then signed an EO fulfilling the promise.

This forced me to have a serious talk with my wife, because while she wants me to stay retired, two years' pay is not something to be lightly discarded. I've informed the family that we need to prepare ourselves for me to return to the colors because the financial (and this includes retirement) implications are impossible to ignore.

That being said, I can't help but wonder if there will be compensation in lieu of service option because having a bunch of Guardsmen show up, have to in-process and then skip back out is going to be really disruptive.

It’s true. A huge glaring security hole a mile wide. Anyone who wins election (or “wins” wink wink) to federal office is “deemed” to have passed a background check merely due to the fact they were elected.

If the press, for example, is going to demand tax records and crawl up everyone’s ass with a microscope “We the People” need to see unredacted FBI files of anybody in Congress, out of an abundance of caution and transparency. If you want to run for congress, we need to know your background before the election.

The upper leadership is going to be gutted, so that's not a problem. This is clearly a compensatory act, so it's not like a recruiting incentive where you would require so much service.

I suspect a lot of it could be resolved administratively. Having determined that someone meets the criteria, the question would then turn to what is appropriate. For me, one could argue that I should at least collect pay for the rest of my enlistment, which until the Covid insanity, I was prepared to complete. I mean, we will have people who will have aged out, or are now unfit physically. They also deserve compensation.

If I were to serve, it would only be until October, because that plus the two years I was out would bump me to 24 years total service. But is that fair to my unit to have to issue me IDs, etc?

I'm thinking that our contemporary understanding of "world" is different from the definition of "world" when this was originally translated and adopted.

Originally, the Church, and the entire population of the planet was tuned in to the fact of an eternal spiritual realm. Yet the "as it was in the beginning" doesn't really apply to anything that is eternal, but refers to Genesis 1:1.

Maybe this is a statement against annihilation of this temporal world (at the Last Day), rather a restoration and renewing/reformation.

or the "world without end" is a spiritual world, which would have been a natural understanding before the church discarded recognition of a spiritual realm (except Orthodox) and went into a perpetual materialistic understanding.

its just odd sounding to an Evangelical ear.

On FB I follow a group called The Beauty of Catholicism, whose features include the altars of older, pre-Vatican II churches, with the Tabernacle in the center, once the focus of all attention of both the priest and the faithful attending, the very center of Holy Mass.

Now? Out in front is what Giovanni Guardeschi's Don Camillo called "the buffet table". Our Lord is shoved to the back. "Oh yeah, you're here too." The priest now is the master of ceremonies. Our get together, starring Father Jim, with special guest Jesus Christ. It's heartbreaking.

When God finished creation on day six He pronounced it very good.

What was the characterization of their Discharge? As a practical matter this is important. The military is different than civilian life. They can order service members to take experimental or not Approved medicines. Anthrax vaccine was such an order, if memory serves. My room mate was ETSing in 2 weeks, and they required it. My shot record indicates it was a series of 4 shots.

In the Civilian world, there was no such requirement as far as I know. No one can be compelled or coerced (pressured) into participating in experimental medical trials. That is illegal under federal law 6 ways to Sunday.

Pain is a wonderful motivator, and it should hurt to be stupid.

Our parish has been incrementally reverting to traditional styles. Gone are the weird abstract angels hangings, replaced with traditional icons. The altar servers now wear more traditional garb and when done right Novus Ordo Masses can be quite beautiful. Being a college town, we have exceptional musicians, and the organ is now hosting recitals from the School of Music.

When Francis passes, I think the TLM will really take off.

Amen to that TP. My first, our daughter, was full of undesirable joy. That " I'm a dad" feeling is priceless. My son's birth was just the opposite. Almost immediately, my wife was surrounded by doctors and nurses. They were prepping Mrs. Sock for an emergency C-section when the little stinker decided it was time. Mrs. Sock was in ICU for 3 days. My son was in NICU for a week. I encountered a Chaplain one earlier morning after no sleep in the waiting room. It was very helpful. Keep up the good work TP.

Other than the fact you are a fellow Moron, and I like when Morons flourish, the appropriate thing is to just back pay and add to the accumulated service time.

Then again, there is likely going to be new and improved ways that the Party Military deploys their human assets being that we have a MAGA top leadership.

151 What was the characterization of their Discharge? As a practical matter this is important. The military is different than civilian life. They can order service members to take experimental or not Approved medicines. Anthrax vaccine was such an order, if memory serves. My room mate was ETSing in 2 weeks, and they required it. My shot record indicates it was a series of 4 shots.

The difference is that there has always been a procedure to obtain medical waivers and the DoD blatantly violated these. They lost every case, and every court martial went against them because they not only violated their rules, they provided written instructions on how to do it.

The mandate was withdrawn because those cases were piling up, and it would have been a disaster for "Follow lawful orders!" to have court after court declare them to be unlawful.

Not everyone in the military is always deplayable, not everyone is perfectly fit. There are "codes" all over the place, but in this one case, all of that was thrown out because Lloyd Austin wanted us 100 green, no matter how many people he killed in the process.

165 In case folks were wondering, the reason I refused the shot was that I had acute myocarditis in 2019 that almost killed me outright. It presented as a heart attack. Praise be to God, I fully recovered with zero damage to my heart (let's give up for the Anointing of the Sick!) but the cause remains a mystery.

As we all know, from the earliest stages of the jab, there was documentation regarding myocarditis. When the mandate came down, I went to my cardiologist, we talked it over, he contacted his colleagues who did a blind review of my file and the universal agreement was not only was the shot unnecessary for someone of age and physical condition, it was potentially lethal. Could kill me on the spot.

I put in for a medical waiver which was described as the Gold Standard and it was rejected outright. At the urging of my commander and chaplain, I then put in for a religious exemption on the grounds that I was Catholic and suicide is a sin. That never got resolved because it bought enough time for me to get my retirement put in, but Big Air Force actually rejected it twice before finally granting it four months after I out-processed. Who does that?

"President Donald Trump's administration fired the independent inspectors general of more than a dozen major government agencies late on Friday. The IGs are the internal watchdogs who monitor federal agencies.

The agencies include the departments of defense, state, transportation, veterans affairs, housing and urban development, interior, and energy, The Washington Post said, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The New York Times said the purge affected 17 agencies but spared the Department of Justice inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

The Post said the firings 'appeared to violate federal law, which requires Congress to receive 30 days´ notice of any intent to fire the inspectors general.'

In 2022, Congress strengthened and expanded protections for inspectors general, making it harder to replace them with hand-picked officials and requiring additional explanations from a president for their removal.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reports."

To wit, "In June 2018, Horowitz released his report, concluding that Peter Strzok and other FBI employees "brought discredit to themselves" and to the agency. He found that Comey indulged in ad hoc decision making and did not follow FBI procedures, but did not find that he was motivated by any political bias.."

206 This place is amazing. Who would have thought (not me) after 50-plus years as an agnostic I would happily start each morning with prayers for those who need them. I've seen so much good and comfort on AOSHQ resulting from prayer. It's transformative.

There are no words that can describe how happy it makes me to hear that.

Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh

This place has had that affect on me as well. I let the Methodist church of my formative years chase me off, and then remained a lapsed agnostic for decades. You all have helped me rekindle what I loved as a child before the nasty church ladies took it from me.

Not likely, IMO.

What should be considered, though, for those who desire it, is giving them top priority in filling slots in the guard or reserves as they become available.

Right after cutting them a check for full back pay and specialty pay they may have been receiving -- i.e. flight pay for pilots, as an example.

No, this was very different. When it got kicked back, Personnel didn't know what to do. It had never happened before. They called our other base, and no one there had ever heard of it happening. Retirements are one of the few things that are fully automated.

HAF said that the Wing Commander had to personally sign off on it, so he did, and it was resubmitted. And rejected.

At this point the O-6s began working the phones personally and on the third try, it went through, and was backdated to the original date. Total b.s. that served no purpose other than punishing my unit.

I got off fairly lightly. There are some real horror stories out there and names need to be named. Hegseth has his work cut out for him.

265 - @175 UDUP

Actually, it is the pre-trib rapture, which I do NOT hold to, that is rejected in most of the world.
There is a difference between historical dispensationalism and that which came along in the 1800's.
The earliest of the church fathers in the Didache taught that the church would suffer under the anti-christ. Unless you can point to a specific person who committed the abomination of desolation, as described by Paul in 2Thess 2:1-5. Or when the entire world saw Christ coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
For whatever the reason, prophecy is the main thing God has laid on my heart to study for the last thirty years. Likey due to the falsehood of the pre-trib rapture (not the rapture itself) and the danger that teaching was to the church.
And yes, we can know what is to come if we just take God's Word for what it says.
Matt 24:4,25,33 Mark 13:14. Luke 21:34-26

As far as when Rev was written, see "The problems with preterism," Michael Weis on utube. Overwhelming amount of evidence points to around 93-95 AD.

The Democrats aren't the only ones who've got a pretty good election fraud machine going on. Hell, I'd bet the Democrats actually fund most of the campaigns for those mentioned there.

McConnell's election machine made sure only candidates that met his "quality" level were ever put in office. It will probably be running after he croaks too.

The disruption of industrialism, mass-market newspapers, etc. broke down the old societal relations, including the centrality of the local church or parish.

Spirtually, people (yet again) thought they conquered nature, and so you have "Bible scholars" deconstructing the scriptures, Darwin questioning creation, and Marxism entering the stage as a secular heresy.

Spiritualism also became a thing. Evil never sleeps.

It is easy to understand that a divine hand had a say in where we find ourselves today.

The confederates make great use of them. A person from 1860 spent more time imagining what they would do with a radio (even if they didn't have the word for it) than a ?2010? person imagined being without.

357 That new TV series on HBO Max, "The Pitt," is set in the same north-side Pittsburgh hospital where I underwent surgery way way back in the last century, to remove a dangerous histiocytoma tumor that had parked itself on my right shoulder, lucky-for-me right under the skin.

Allegheny General Hospital. It is now part of the UPMC complex.

In the HBO show, there is a lot of back and forth banter, both funny and nasty, with the docs and nurses working atop someone on a gurney or bed. It reminded me of the last thing I remember, going under the anesthesia, the doc a young Indian woman with a heavy accent, and two residents, young guys, asking her a question. Each asked, she replied to each, neither could understand, and the last thing I see is one going to the wall behind her making head-banging moves at the wall to make the other laugh.

375 I've read some posts lately about how bad healthcare is now at OSHU in Portland. I went there for my pulmonologist and saw another specialist. They were good and my first primary care doctor was good. But I learned they had a clinic for trannys and there were signs saying to use the bathroom for your preferred gender. When my primary care doctor went to another clinic, I got assigned one that specialized in therainbow community. All she did for me was refill prescriptions. But now, it sounds like actual care has gone downhill. This is bad because it's the teaching hospital for the area.

You also develop a profound hatred for modern construction materials and methods. “Engineered hardwood flooring in a kitchen over 23/32 inch OSB on top of I-joists.. Yep, that saved someone a few bucks and guaranteed any leak from the dishwasher would be a $20k repair..”

Rhodesia turned into Zimbabwe. All of us, being 29, lived through it without being scandalized because it wasn't covered in any negative way.

Most westerners will blanche at a news story that sounds like a stormfront fever-dream, regardless of the truth of it. Correcting this comes to waking up to, exempli gratia, decades of grooming gangs in Britain and a lake of anger and regret.

I suspect it may be too late for the descendants of the Boers in South Africa. We will have two cautionary tales because we didn't listen to the first one.

What’s important is that Westerners were able to virtue-signal over apartheid. That it ruined the lives of millions of Boers is of no consequence. That South Africa can’t even keep the electricity running, guaranteeing that life is worse for blacks and whites is insignificant because female scolds in the 80s and 90s—like the Washington “bishop”—got to feel smug self-righteousness.

Beshear has indicated he will fight that. He thinks it's unconstitutional. KY constitution that is. So, if McConnell was to croak tomorrow that slot could be empty for quite a while as this is fought out in state court.

Personally, I'm ambivalent about that. It's not like McConnell's votes are reliably conservative.

There's a spincter at the esophagus that closes when the acid level is at a certain strength. If it's too weak, it stays partially open and splashes back. People used to take HCL as a remedy, but then you'd have to get the dose right. This supplement is a little stronger than apple cider vinegar.
