The purges have started...Trump reserved particular scorn for four appointees who he called out by name: José Andrés, the revered Spanish-American chef who founded the World Central Kitchen and who Biden appointed to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition; Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who sat on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council; Brian Hook, a diplomat and professor who served as a trustee of the Wilson Center for Scholars; and Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former Atlanta mayor who served on the President’s export council.

The Guardian: Trump reclassifies thousands of federal employees, making them easier to fire. One of a promised flurry of measures signed on Trump’s first day back in power, the order effectively reinstates “Schedule F”, which sought to allow for the reclassification of tens of thousands of federal workers. Schedule F changed civil service rules to allow for a broad swath of career federal employees to be fired without civil service protection, reclassifying their jobs as political appointments.

However, it's obvious that she doesn't think that and some of her backers don't think that either.

It's really, to me, just a question of where her final act in American electoral politics plays out. In the CA governor's race (where she'll end up 4th) or in the 2028 Democrat presidential primary race (where she'll drop out before Super Tuesday).

The Republican Party is going to be energized and able to get at least one candidate into the top 3. The Democrat Party is fracturing, so there's a solid chance of something like a Socialist Candidate making a good showing.

And, again, Kamala really, really sucks. The world has seen she sucks, and the Sacramento machine has no incentive to back her.

For me, though, it's only a slight problem. I'm not a purist about perfectly matching the real-life inspiration for the model. I'm okay with HK's 1/32 B-24J even though the wing chord is way, way out of true, because you can tell it's a B-24J when it's done.

The last straw

Last minute pardons for Biden’s political accomplices were the plan all along. The pardons for drug dealers and commutations for murderers were just cover for the main act of these pardons and his son — all done after elections have passed.

The only administration to try to jail political opponents was not Trump’s but Biden’s, and it was the voters who rejected it with their votes.

There were legitimate questions on whether Fauci lied about his funding of gain of function research, whether Miley broke the chain of command and had unauthorized communications with the Chinese and whether the Jan 6th committee coached witnesses. They may have all been right and truthful but there were questions, and they will all go unresolved now.

But Biden was elected lying to the public about his son’s business (which was eventually uncovered), sought to win reelection hiding his infirmities, (which was also eventually uncovered), and genuinely abused his office in the closing days of his presidency as his low ratings sink even lower.

379 Harris is the archetypal DEI hire. Someone put it succinctly somewhere else (or perhaps here). He posted something like Kamala is the perfect candidate because she’s ticks all the boxes. She’s a woman. But she’s also black. She’s Indian. She’s Hindu. She’s cosmopolitan, having grown up in Canada. She’s all-American because she’s born in the US. She’s a career woman with no children of her own. She’s a devoted mother with children from her husband’s previous marriage. And so on.

Yet none of this let her win the 2020 nomination or the election last year. She’s really one thing: a loser.

For lower level GS types, keeping the clearance allows them to be employed working as a govie contractor in the cleared space. The FedGov has a hard time hiring people off the street for cleared jobs. Much of the cleared govie work is done by fed contractors, which are easier to hire, and fire. The govies provide program management of cleared work, not so much the nuts and bolts, which the contractors provide.

The question was why it was SOP, not if it should be. That's the question I answered.

Then they can get re-cleared on an as-needed basis.

It usually takes a long time for that to happen. It shouldn't, but it does. Therefore, you're allowed to keep a clearance if you have a prospective employer in a position for which its required. IIRC, it's automatic that you keep a clearance that can be reactivated for a year, but after that, the process begins anew.

There are two distinct sets of rules on Clearances... Normal, and Political types.

Normal, to get a Clearance, you need to go through a Back Ground Investigation, and as your clearance increases, they often do further investigations. Once you leave that job, they downgrade and suspend your clearance. If you get a job needing a Clearance soon after, they restart your clearance, not needed a Background Investigation... which is MUCH cheaper for the company who wants to hire you.

Political types, are different. They don't get Background investigations, as the Politicians did not want the BI process to uncover Blackmail type material, that can be used by other politicians (weaponized deep state stuff). They also seem to retain their Clearance unless specifically revoked... supposedly so they will keep the secrets they learned.

No one gets a clearance for life. My clearance is readjudicated every five years (full-blown investigation), and I get real-time watching as well.

If I don't have a position which requires that I have access to classified information when my clock pops, my clearance pops, too, and were I to take a position requiring it in the future, I'd have to start over.

Foreseeing World War II, Blofeld (Musk) made copies of top-secret wires and sold them for cash to Nazi Germany. Before the German invasion of Poland in 1939, he destroyed all records of his existence, then moved first to Sweden, then to Turkey, where he worked for Turkish Radio and began to set up his own private intelligence organisation. During the war, he sold information to both sides. After the defeat of Erwin Rommel, he decided to back the Allied war effort, and was awarded numerous medals by the Allied powers after the war's end. Blofeld then moved temporarily to South Africa before founding Tesla.

That person outside can't, regardless of what level of clearance they hold.

You have to have been cleared to the appropriate level AND have an official need to know the information in question.

The fact that I hold at TS/SCI clearance doesn't automatically grant me access to everything classified at that level - only the miniscule number of things I need to do my job.
