The Left is Now at Its Most Unpopular at Any Time Since the the Cold War
Update: CNN Has Settled With Young

Leftism is now more unpopular than when the Soviet Union was still kicking around.

Good job, Donkey-Chompers.

Lefty political parties across the world are now more unpopular than any time since the Cold War, a staggering analysis of recent elections shows.

The Left suffered a record-low average of just 45% of votes in dozens of ballots held globally last year, according to the analysis of 73 democratic elections, conducted by the Telegraph.

In the United States and Western Europe, progressives were even more unpopular -- with the left-leaning parties securing only 42% of their respective votes.

The Right, meanwhile, won 57% of the average votes -- representing the widest gap since 1990, the analysis found.

Trump, who will be inaugurated on Monday, secured the popular vote with 77 million votes compared to the 75 million his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, raked in.

The Left's declining popularity is only expected to continue, too, experts say.

In the wake of Harris' defeat, leftist parties in Canada, Australia, and Germany are already predicted to suffer similar losses in upcoming ballots.

"The trend is up. There is no real reason to expect that it will stop anytime soon," Prof. Matthijs Rooduijn, a political scientist from the University of Amsterdam, told the outlet.

Update: Settled. Before I mentioned that the lawyer excused himself "to call my client." (AlextheChick pointed this out.) I thought maybe he was calling CNN to tell them, "We have to settle, what's the most you can offer?"

Unfortunately, this means that the size of the award will be protected by an NDA and we won't know how much they paid out. I guess maybe we can take guesses about it based on corporate filings, but they'll hide the amount in general "legal expenses" sums. Unless it's like a half billion dollars, I doubt we'll ever be able to have a good idea of how big the settlement is. The stone of the settlement will be hidden under too much general legal expenses sand.

I've only been told this for about three decades now.

I think it's all Trump. And many here ... many, many ... won't like the end result.

The end isn't Conservatism. Its Nationalist Populism. It'll be more unions, not less. Less cheap foreign goods, not more.

Tighter borders. More law and order. Less cheap labor.

No, it's Labour. There is also a Liberal Democrat party, that not long ago was strong enough to form a coalition gov't with the Tories.

The problem is that the Tories and Labour are the same now. The Tories are just slower about it and have Etonian accents. Labour won because everyone hated the Tories.

Now Labour is doing the usual leftist thing - lying about their agenda and doing nothing related to what they campaigned on.

93 I am wondering if a lot of the loss of votes in the left comes from the left abandoning economics and class focus in favor of identity and niche politics of the global elite class.

Making voters miserable for Ukrainian wars, endless migrants making social services and society visibly and measurably worse, calling those disagreeing as fascists and putting them in jail, and impoverishing the citizenry via non existent green energy bloviation, is not popular.

Zombie FDR himself could not run and win under such a platform and he was a scummy and talented a liar as there ever was in politics.

Zoomers are just lost. Between the lockdowns and the collapse of society norms, they're wandering around trying to find something to believe in.

Lots are returning to the old faiths. Our parish is seeing lots of young families right now, and the head coverings are returning. You see this is the demand for the TLM and also the fact that vocations are really picking up. Lots of religious sisters these days, and priestly vocations are doing very well.

Communism is a heresy, one that turns envy into a virtue. Note also how pride is celebrated rather than condemned.

But the tide has changed. We all feel it.

Even the California fires are part of that. Reports are already coming in of miraculous events. The media won't cover it, but it's happening. God is not asleep.

Yep, Starmer and his party has fallen faster in approval than almost every other government not headed by Liz Truss and the recent budget problems this week spurring a probably minibudget is going to make things worse.

Basically, Starmer is screwed between Bank of England raising rates, the exploding public debt service, and all the promises he made to buy votes becoming undone. All the new money from tax increases is going to repay the BoE for market looses from quantitative easing and that is still not enough.

260 The latchkey generation that raised itself. Fast Times, based on a true story, is pretty much a documentary.

circa 1995 or so...we had an annual party around 4th of July every year because DanMa'am's birfday is proximate to that date. Every year, bbq, pool, kegs and a whole lot of friends and neighbors. Our kids were in HS in Bellaire (TX) and one of them was at a kegger one of his friends was hosting. That kid got his older sister to make the purchase. Huge house in a nice neighborhood of more huge houses, pool in the yard, rowdies all around coming and going. A neighbor calls the cops and Bellaire PD made the scene. Uh oh. Police demand the kids call their parents. Except for us most of the parents were out of town, Paris, Cali, all over the place.
Cops had no idea what to do...20 or so lit teenagers and no body to come get them. Our son knew there was no way he wanted one of us to show up. Those kids noticed the cops weren't really interested in sticking around and they bailed out of windows, over fences, any way to get away. Talk of the town for a year .

Tomio Okamura is the leader of the SPD (Svoboda a prímá demokracie, Freedom and Direct Democracy) political party in Czechia. He is a model of diversity: his mother was Moravian and his father Japanese.

Mr. Okamura is currently facing prosecution and possible jail time for distributing a poster denouncing the EU Migration Pact, produced by the coalition that his party belongs to. I suspect that what sealed his fate was the use of a bloodthirsty negro in the image.

There was a distinct boom in US economy and peacefullness (by and large) from the Ike era until later in the LBJ era.

Gen X mainly got the stick as despite Reagan, there was the worst recession since the Great Depression in 82-83, still was inflation, and average workers (aka parents) pay started to decline during the Ford-Carter area and cost of living started increasing faster for transportation, education, and housing than paychecks did.

Technical Baby Boomers did not grow up under any severe recessions, some bad inflation post WWII with spotty housing shortages in places, but overall the 1946-1968 economy far outperformed the later 1973-1994 era for the average worker.

But at the same time, good changes happened as well. The old people complaining about the new has merit (we all need to approach novelty with caution and see its problems) but there are actual benefits to air conditioning and the internet. 312 This whole "I need to be me" and "my truth," where did that start?

Not with me. I think I'll just sit this one out.

Kramer versus Kramer at least....but since that was a reactionary show there was probably a dozen that make it look good before that.

Rockford Files had the "sound of one hand slapping" finish when a hippy girl hires Rockford to find her missing Guru who was a fake and stole money and he slaps her for chasing her down.

But there were gurus and mystics scamming rich wives and daughters for hundreds of years, spiritualists, Indian mystics etc etc etc. Goofball religions go back to Rome and farther on.

313 My brother and I were raised in accord with the values that are now derided by the left and have never forsaken nor apologized for that. Such will never happen, either.

If that offends or upsettles, tough, deal with it.

314 I’m quite sure the settlement is no less than $20 Mil. I remember reading somewhere that punitive damages are 3X compensatory damages, so that’s 20 Million, his lawyer would never let him settle for less.

315 Burying it as a "legal expense"???

Sounds worthy of 34 felonies. Pam Bondi should get on that as soon as they file 1st quarter numbers.
