Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Biden, Who Demanded that Tech Oligarchs Censor Any Speech Critical of Him or the Democrats, Now Warns Nation Grimly of a "Tech-Industrial Complex" Controlling the CountryBefore getting to that, I suppose it's just a total coincidence that Biden's SEC just decided to persecute Musk some more for giving Americans some of their free speech back. NBC "News:"The SEC filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk on Tuesday, alleging the billionaire committed securities fraud in 2022 by failing to disclose he had amassed an active stake in Twitter, a secrecy that allowed him to buy shares at "artificially low prices." Musk, who is also CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, purchased Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022 and changed the name to X the following year. Prior to the acquisition, he'd built up a position in the company of greater than 5%, which would've required disclosing his holdings to the public within 10 calendar days of reaching that threshold. According to the SEC's civil complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., Musk was more than 10 days late in reporting that material information, "allowing him to underpay by at least $150 million for shares he purchased after his financial beneficial ownership report was due." Investors may have bid up the stock had they known about Musk's purchases and interest in the company.Below, in his halting, lie-filled "farewell address," Biden claims that it's other people who fill the discourse with lies and other people who want to control your speech: U.S. President Joe Biden warned on Wednesday in his farewell address that an American oligarchy is taking shape among a few tech billionaires who have amassed a "dangerous concentration of power." Biden warned Americans of a "tech industrial complex," words that echoed President Dwight Eisenhower's farewell address in 1961. Eisenhower, closing out eight years as president, had warned of the dangers of a "military-industrial complex" gaining power in the United States. "Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that really threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedom and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead," Biden said from the Oval Office.Did he forget names like Mark Cuban, Reid Hoffman, Larry Fink, and George Soros, who have paid billions to the Democrat Party? Did he forget Mark Zuckerberg, who paid $400 million to turn out the vote in left-leaning areas? No? Just Elon Musk? A one-man oligarchy, huh? Update:

Right. imo the vote switches/theft and fake votes stole the 2020 election, and continues to steal elections as Dems count till they win. BUT the censorship and propaganda from all media, and the Google (Archipelago) Search misdirection of results, and other BigTech monopolies on "Truth" was another 15%+ of voter outcomes. I just read an extremely disturbing IG report. Last December, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was hospitalized and failed to follow the law by notifying the White House or Congress. Similarly, his deputy, Secretary Kathleen Hicks, also refused to follow protocol and report the transfer of authority.
Now, the Inspector General’s report just released reveals that this doesn’t just happen once. Secretary Austin did the same thing again five months later, last June, and he hid it from everyone. Now look, I get it. People get sick. It happens to all of us, and I sincerely hope Secretary Austin is healthy. But it is dangerous and deeply concerning that our Secretary of Defense left the United States vulnerable when he was completely out of commission. "Rachel Maddow announces an all out counter attack
On Monday night, Rachel announced that, starting next Monday, when the felon is inaugurated, she will go back to her five day a week schedule. And she will stick to that schedule for the first hundred days of his (mis)administration. To me, this is the first and biggest counterattack on those who want to rule us permanently. Given the research, attention to detail, and all out effort that goes into getting Rachel on the air every night, this is an effort that could literally kill her. But she's doing what none of our Democratic leadership is doing. She's announced that the depravity and outright brutal fascism that Trump is going to try to solidify in the beginning of his term, will not go unopposed. She will be on the air every night of the week, calling him out, highlighting his "craziness" of the day, and trying to make people aware of the pure evil that has descended upon us. If we survive the coming onslaught, I believe that future historians will place Rachel alongside those greats who came forward, took a stand, and made a difference when our democracy and our freedoms were in peril." - DU Commenter Posted by: Duncanthrax at January 16, 2025 05:12 PM (a3Q+t) 258

We do live in an oligarchy, I have no doubt about that. But any reasonable solution such as limiting contributions to just candidates you can vote for will never be implemented.
So the best shot we have is to corral the ultra rich to support you, and Trump did just that by making an overt attempt at supporting tech bro issues, and it worked. Thank you so much. As big a prick as Joe Biden has been, I still have empathy for his struggle with the disease. I can’t understand who wrote that garbage for his farewell address. 164 When he warned of a government run by specialists (experts), he definitely didn't want the rabble chiming in!
I respect Ike quite a bit, just for that speech. Imagine this. Ike was a career officer, elevated to the 2nd highest military post in land (behind Marshall). Afterward, he was a US President that oversaw the creation of the Interstates. And yet - after wielding all that power that was the union of the Military / Industrial / Academic Complex ? He warned against it. Posted by: Student of Human Moves at January 16, 2025 04:54 PM (ANvyx) Not nearly as big a fan of Ike. He was POTUS when he could have done something about the M-I-C; he was Allied Supreme Commander for goodness sakes. It would have been George Washington-esque for him to rail against it earlier than his last days in office. On top of that, he had the standing to roll back the most blatant excesses of the New Deal, and he chose not to. That ended up enshrining them in US society, and impossible to roll back. Overrated. I do think there is a difference between self made billionaires and people who started off wealthy, including Donald Trump.
What I do find interesting is, unless a child of wealthy parents is a complete loser they usually end up well off themself because that’s what they know. Maybe it’s osmosis and learn how their parents obtained their wealth and they just repeat it. And I’m not talking about inherited wealth . Though running around in those wealthy circles doesn’t hurt. Conversely I put far more weight on a person who has everything to lose, their career, their friends, and perhaps in jail, they would not do this for free. People don’t put everything on the line for a lie. It isn’t a perfect metric, but it is definitely worth paying attention to. The Covid bullshit is textbook example. What's worse, that the dude ghosts his office and some nobody takes over, or that he ghosted his office and some nobody took over and nobody even noticed? Is this really such a big huge holy shit moment that it happened at least twice and nobody cared? Or that we have such a position in the first damn place? And on top of that, we put some useless ass-sucking apparatchik with a bum ticker in it? Because by my lights, if this office is so damned important, the real scandal is that the fucker was ever in it to begin with. Posted by: Warai-otoko at January 16, 2025 05:34 PM (+iIV1) 361

I'm very sorry. My mother passed a week ago but it was mercifully quick.
Your experience sounds horrible. I’m sorry for your loss. I was very fortunate to have my aunt, her sister, living less than two miles away. Thankfully, my brother was there for the final three weeks. I can’t imagine dealing with that situation alone, especially during the pandemic. What I do find interesting is, unless a child of wealthy parents is a complete loser they usually end up well off themself because that’s what they know. Maybe it’s osmosis and learn how their parents obtained their wealth and they just repeat it.
Or maybe its because American Society isn't the Meritocracy that was taught for generations. Maybe it was taught so hard PRECISELY because it wasn't true. I believe, more than ever, that America is a two class system. And us rubes on the bottom have been taught to defend our betters to the bitter end. redridinghood: "BREAKING: The FBI has just shut down its Diversity Office, 4 days before President Trump's Inauguration.
Winning!" Only if this is Step One of shutting down the entire FBI. And it sucks saying that. We need some iteration of FBI but the current FBI itself outlived its usefulness and "mission" decades ago. No faith or confidence in it. Shuffling out a few jobs is wholly insufficient. It needs to be torn down and a new entity with better oversight and less authority built to replace it if at all. Just burn the manuals and start over. 335 My theory: Leftist think Maddow is super smart because, while she is a woman, she looks like a man and that tricks their brains.
Posted by: I used to have a different nic ---------- I think leftists actually like being ordered around and misled by authority figures because that is how they would behave in authority themselves. Madcow, as an authority figure, permits Leftists to ignore the truth and propagate lies which makes them very happy. All she does is set the script and the NPCs gladly accept their new programming. Colbert and his clapping seals regarding Comey being fired shows that in real time with his audience. Colbert mentions that and the audience claps and then Colbert has to step in and reprogram the audience into firing Comey is bad because Orangeman did it. My personal favorite Bessent moment was when he was being grilled by the Dunce of Oregon, Wyland.
Regarding clean energy, Wyden claimed, “We are in an arms race on clean energy with China.” Bessent did not hesitate to dismantle the senator’s argument and fact-check it in real time. “China will build 100 new coal plants this year,” he said bluntly. “There is not a clean energy race. There is an energy race.” Posted by: Cheri at January 16, 2025 05:42 PM (oiNtH) 381

The US has enough coal to provide for all of our electricity needs for 100+ years. china has ten times the amount of coal reserves than we do.
—— It’s maybe technically true, but the US is the “Saudi Arabia” of the planet in terms of Coal. High quality coal. That’s why it is “interesting” that the push for outlawing it started in earnest. Convenient, that. It also provides good paying careers, much needed tax revenue and dollars that circulate in America, as well as a measure of national security. Oil, gas, shale oil - America is blessed with natural resources and quality farmland, the envy of the world. Crippling our energy production is Enemy Action, always has been. Back in the '80s when hostile takeovers were raging, Ivan "Greed is Good" Boesky was implicated in 13D reporting violations that expanded to include Michael Milken, who had singlehandedly created the Junk Bond market -- now called High Yield. A federal prosecutor bound for glory made the case criminal, put Milken in jail and bankrupted his firm causing a market panic.
