In a "Huge Win," the Woke Corporate Cartel "Net Zero" Stops Operations as Corporations Back Away from Toxic Wokeness

This was the group of financial services companies using their immense power to force countries to immiserate themselves by not producing energy.

The Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) coalition -- a United Nations--sponsored collection of financial services companies that have pledged to negate their portfolio's greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner -- suspended activities after investment firm BlackRock announced its departure from the group, according to a press release.

BlackRock, which manages over $10 trillion and has been a leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, announced its exit from NZAM Thursday, with its vice-chair Philipp Hildebrand saying the firm's involvement in the environmental coalition "caused confusion regarding BlackRock's practices and subjected us to legal inquiries from various public officials." Now, NZAM has pressed pause altogether, halting operations while it conducts a review of its activities, an NZAM press release published Monday stated.

"Recent developments in the U.S. and different regulatory and client expectations in investors' respective jurisdictions have led to NZAM launching a review of the initiative to ensure NZAM remains fit for purpose in the new global context," NZAM reportedly wrote in the letter. "As the initiative undergoes this review, it is suspending activities to track signatory implementation and reporting. NZAM will also remove the commitment statement and list of NZAM signatories from its website, as well as their targets and related case studies, pending the outcome of the review."

A slew of other financial services had left NZAM prior to BlackRock's Thursday exit, including Goldman Sachs Group, Wells Fargo & Co., Citigroup, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co. BlackRock's exit came amid a broader corporate strategy shift away from environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, with the firm only supporting about 4% of the 493 environmental and social investment proposals shareholders put forward between the end of June 2023 and the end of June 2024, down from a rate of 47% in 2021.

BlackRock was a major supporter of ESG investing in years prior, with CEO Larry Fink claiming in 2020 that "climate risk is investment risk" and that climate change would lead to a "fundamental reallocation of capital."

Oh you mean Larry Fink, who's been using financial power to pressure companies and entire nations to follow the Global Socialist Movement's line?

Like an... oligarch, almost?

Alternative energy continues to dazzle.

- A fire broke out at Vistra Corp.'s Moss Landing complex in California, one of the world's biggest battery storage facilities, prompting evacuations. Local officials said a fire suppressant system failed.

Every rack of batteries at the facility has a fire suppressant system fed by an on-site system, and this system failed, Chief Joel Mendoza with the North County Fire District, said during a press briefing Friday. The county declared a local emergency.

Vistra executives acknowledged the system failure at the briefing. Pete Ziegler, who manages the facility, added, "We don't know what started this event yet."

35 Blackrock and any of these financial or public companies have an actual duty recorded in law to act in the clients or shareholders best interests. They have only been protected by a DoJ and SEC that subverts those laws and has written regulations attempting to obfuscate the actual statutes. Trump has made it clear these regulations will be eliminated as per the recent SCOTUS decision limiting the ability of executive branch agencies to bypass Congress. They are also losing these cases in lower courts as these obligations are not same obscure requirement, they underpin the entire industry. These companies see the litigation headlights coming and they’re trying to get ahead of them.

Exactly.

She *is* feminist. And she's more consistent with feminism in being trans-exclusionary than other feminists.

That doesn't mean she gets most of her arguments correct. It's still stupid to blame the bulk of men, who punch each other's "man cards" and tease each other about feminine-range behavior that it suddenly become apiece with "masculinity" that wants to "control women's spaces" as in point out "Well, it's still men".

As if it is the responsibility of every normal male to make sure there are 0 men in dresses, who flout male social behavior. Because we could just as easily go back to enforcing "male behavior" with men who play the female role in "sex" as well.

Oh, no! That was wrong. We have to allow the male and female roles closer together--but as we break down that Order, it's still up to Men to make sure no men within the lax standards of social sex role enforcement, who can pay the ever cheaper cost of effeminate behavior NEVER wear dresses to "invade women's spaces"!

75 Anybody from back in the day that were big, big pushers of "free trade" and "lower top marginal rates" wanna' admit they were wrong ?

I don't believe I've ever discussed it here but I have been a proponent of both these ideas.

I still believe that free trade is best but I have always recognized that it must be reciprocated. Being the only country with no barriers to foreign trade is like being the only country that disbands it's entire military.

In the matter of top marginal rates, I continue to believe that they should be lower. I don't believe in taxes as punishment even when the wealthy are not my friends. One of the big problems we have is that we've removed so many people from the tax roles but they're still permitted a vote. I believe that we should have a single tax rate and that it should apply from the first dollar on whatever taxation mechanism is used without exception: income/spending/property. If people find the taxes onerous, and I suspect they would, they could pressure their "representatives" to stop shoving money out the door as fast as possible.

If you feel that this provides you a means to say "I told you so", enjoy.

Yup, you know what actually made the Santa Ana fires worse?

The Santa Anas are caused by the difference in Temp between Southern Calif, and the area around Las Vegas. When LA is warmer than Vegas? Santa Anas.

So, there is this little thing called the Heat Island Effect, which raises Temp in large cities (like... oh... LA) by anywhere from 1-7 Degrees F.

As the Santa Ana winds get worse the more the Temp is different? Yeah, the overly large population of the LA Basin, which caused urban sprawl, and more heat Island Effect... made the Santa Anas worse.

Aint got a damn thing to do with CO2 though... let alone man made CO2.

President Biden just declared that the Equal Rights Amendment is now a valid part of the Constitution, and should be considered the law of the land.
This is an incredible moment for reproductive freedom, and a historic day for equality – especially with Americans facing the further degradation of reproductive freedom as the incoming administration takes power.
Now, women living in states with restrictions on their reproductive freedoms can – and should – file suits to overturn these unconstitutional laws that discriminate on the basis of sex. I know they will have ample support as they seek justice, and I promise to stand by their side in this fight.

It's good that this scam is getting broken up.

But that lineup - BlackRock, Goldman, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, JPMC - are the real problem. They'll just throw their enormous influence behind the next ruling class scam.

That are integral. The DC cartel has to get broken up first. But these banks have to be next - or they'll just juice up the next cartel.

104 Its a TRAP to stray too far away from the fundamentals of economics.

Sure. Unless you're on the march to the camps. In which case, none of the rules of economics apply.

That's the problem. This economy is not free. Economics, as expressed all the way back to Adam Smith, assume every consumer is maximally free to do "something".

Until the situation is more free ? Its not a "trap" to assume the rules of economics, as you understand them, are wrong. It's just common sense to assume they don't apply - because the circumstances don't apply.

They are put out by cooling. That means a lot of water, and in deep where it can cool the parts that are burning, not just on the surface.

So a fire suppression can work but only if it works quickly before the heat builds up. I don't know this facility, but the ones Tesla put in Australia were gapped so each module could burn without affecting it's neighbors. (in fact, I think Tesla has had fires where they lost only one module without too much drama.)

Given that HALON displaces all the O2 in the space and all the required steps to be performed before evacuating the space was about 15 minutes, we pretty much ignored that flowchart.

They were investing YOUR money in ESG. Without your knowledge or permissions.

Blackrock is fiduciary. That means they are required by law to invest in the thing that gives their clients (YOU) the best possible return on investment. If investing in an oil company yields a better return than investing in a solar company, they are required, by law, to get the higher return.

In other words, they are not empowered to make these decisions. That is why they are backing off - there is a good chance the Trump justice department sues their silly asses for billions and tosses people in jail if they continue.

This is the problem right here.
They have all gamed the system such that stock prices go up even after failure, and even if they do not go up, their bonuses and cash-outs do.

Our whole economy is run for short term benefit of certain people. They all have a day-trader mentality of riding the wave, even if it is destroying the country. I saw it in many ways with the stock manipulations in the CA tech sector where obviously bad operational decisions were made because the accounting was such that it made the quarterly numbers look better even though it was bad for the company. Better numbers=bigger bonus. Exec staff does not care since they get bigger bonuses too, and they all plan to cash out before the fall.

@SenGillibrand

Are there no people in authority who can stand up and say,

"Look, it's unfortunate that President Biden his so senile that he no longer knows or understands the law. His unilateral declaration of the ERA as law has no validity and is not law. To declare it so is in fact a violation of our constitutional law.

Posted by: I used to have a different nic

Depends on the case and facts. Generalizations in international economics usually come a cropper because economically optimal decision making rests on trust between countries. There is no such thing--one can trust individuals but countries cannot trust other countries because incentives are different between individuals and those of the state. Its also why international law is an oxymoron and mainly power arguments disguised in legalese.

Tariffs got a bad name in the late 1890's-1900's because it eventually became a source of political meddling in Congress for particularistic interests. They actually overhauled and fixed tariff law by the 1920's and we operate under that framework today. It is just not been used much.

Then GATT and WTO got glomped on top of it and made a mess of international trade in that it gave incentive to ask forgiveness rather than permission.

Trade agreements should be bilateral with few multilateral deals.

229 Okay, checked the polls. AfD is in second place, but the Free Democrats are only polling 4%, which is below the threshold to get seats.

What that means is that if the CDU/CSU win a plurality, they will have to coalition with either the Social Democrats or the Greens. They cannot coalition with AfD because they are both of the right, and AfD is stealing their voters, which is why all parties are declaring them to be anathema.

I'm free markety, but even the most free country needs to set aside these wishes if it wants to build its own industries for war making and defense at a minimum. Even my jaded soul is still shocked that we have one ammo maker in our country and lots of our electronics are made in the country we are most likely to go to war with.

People need to be shot for that.

Paranoid old Russia kept all its obsolete tanks and factories of old equipment waiting for a big war from the bad old days and they are kicking Ukraine's ass with them. Turns out an old tank is great for mobile artillery, busting bunkers and anywhere where the 100 or so real tanks the other side has in the country are.

and all those mothballed factories are working 24-7.

International trade broke down primarily because we could not longer send loans to Germany in order for them to pay war reparations to Britain and France for them to pay back war loans from the US.

288 Shorthand for apply the same analysis to university administrators. I would not wish Jay harm as university administrators are a generally loathsome bunch. They get worse generally as they get more distant from the actual function of universities of teaching and research.

301 Now they just print fake money and the depositors are screwed.

There is actually a fund of money set aside to protect banks, the FDIC is a depository. Most of the money that was just printed with Quantitative Easing under Obama (negative interest rates creating money from nothing) was shoved into this fund, against crashing banks.

Mind you most of the money in the system now is fake, without backing, simply invented by the federal reserve and given to the treasury. So yeah, its invented fake money, but not directly so: they aren't just running the printers to hand out if a bank goes under.

305 Free trade is great, when the entities involved have similar costs and profits, and can focus on their strong points, while importing on their weaker points.

It's a funny ol' concept called "comparative advantage." But it helps if you have a funny ol' thing called "absolute advantage."

It's a helluva lot easier to negotiate a low cost for your own high cost good if you have a lower cost good than your trade partner, as a bargaining chip.

But you could always do it the American way, and get brutally ass raped, if that's your thing.
