Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Pax Trumpium: Israel, Hamas Reach Hostage DealIsrael and Hamas have reached an agreement on a multiphase ceasefire that commits them to end the war in Gaza, President Biden and Qatar's prime minister announced separately on Wednesday. "This deal will halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much needed-humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months in captivity," Biden said. He said it was the same as a proposal he made in May 2024, which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.A French account I follow, @lauhaim, says the terms are the following. I don't know where he's getting this, but the number seem to check out. To begin tomorrow:I think that's wrong right off the bat. NPR says it starts Sunday. But then, NPR is more likely to be wrong, I guess. Six weeks of ceasefire. A progressive withdrawal by the Israeli army from the Gaza strip Six hundred humanitarian trucks will enter the Gaza strip Hamas will liberate 33 Israeli hostages. Here's why I think this guy's post is mostly accurate: He explains why 1,300 Palestinian terrorists are being liberated, as far as how the number was arrived at. Israel will free 30 Palestinian (terrorist) prisoner in exchange for each civilian released and 50 for each Israeli soldier releasedI think I read that 23 hostages will be released alive. The other ten hostages being "released" are corpses. Trump gets a lot of the credit, or the blame, for this deal, depending on how you view it.

Not sure how I feel about this. But I think getting the hostages back has been a primary goal from Day One. I also think that once the hostages are back, it clears the decks for Israel going Full Beast Mode in Gaza. Will they do that? Probably not.
My sense -- only my sense -- is that Israel has tired of the war and wants to see it end. There just isn't an appetite for endless war. I think the consensus is that unless you wipe out every single Palestinian in the world, it's only a matter of time before they attack again. Since it's impossible to kill them all, I think Israel wants to take it's win and go home (for now). Posted by: Elric The Blade at January 15, 2025 04:39 PM (iFTx/) 68
I withhold my judgement but this thread seems to make sense:
@Osint613 Ben Shapiro on the hostage deal: “1. It is a hostage deal, NOT an end of war deal. Phase I allows for the release of 33 hostages; it is not clear how many are alive, but some reports suggest 23. 2. Again, the ceasefire is almost certainly temporary. It is not a permanent end to the war. Phase II is, in my opinion, highly unlikely ever to materialize given how many hostages Hamas retains and given that Hamas will never disarm or agree to exile. 3. The deal does not force Israel to alter deployment along the Philadelphi Corridor (border between Gaza and Egypt). So, what does all of this mean? I said in these boxes from the first week that their best course of action was to assume all hostages were dead and refuse any negotiation. I know Israel could not do that, but they will never be secure until they eliminate that incentive. I also said that the West (USA) would end up paying to rebuild that shithole. How many Israelis will die in the next five or 10 or 20 years because of this? Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo ===== Economic considerations, condition of the army, and diminishing returns for Israel are probably also at play. Long wars are an economic downside for a country that relies on reserves. The Army may need to regroup and reequip, and weaponry stockpiles probably need replacement. Plus, a lot of the leaders of the slaughter are dead because Israel targeted them. No one in the world wants Gazans and killing them all would set a pretty bad precedent in a hostile Middle East. I also think that the stability of a lot of Middle Eastern governments like Egypt or Jordan might start to deteriorating. Plus, Muslim Brotherhood taking over Syria has to play into the equation long run. Iran, though, is pretty much the head of the snake currently threatening Israel. This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies. I am thrilled American and Israeli hostages will be returning home to be reunited with their families and loved ones. With this deal in place, my National Security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven. We will continue promoting PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH throughout the region, as we build upon the momentum of this ceasefire to further expand the Historic Abraham Accords. This is only the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the World! We have achieved so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine all of the wonderful things that will happen when I return to the White House, and my Administration is fully confirmed, so they can secure more Victories for the United States! By March and at least no later than May, Hamas will be launching rockets at Israel. They can't help themselves, it's what the do. Partial solution: Every terrorist that is released gets his own bomb collar like the one used in the robbery a few years back. Try and take it off and it blows up. Come within a 100 meters of the border and it blows up. Go near known Hamas facilities and it blows up. Still alive in 6 months and it blows up

===== Yes, that's the core of the problem of not *really* ever understanding that one's way of life is at war with a death-cult. I blame GWB. He had the opportunity to name names, but instead swerved to naming a "mindset" (terror) as the deadly opponent rather than an ideology that since its inception has vowed to kill us all (as the unbelievers we are). The Crusader nick was not something I ever considered prior to 9/11. To me it (a new round of Crusades) is the only viable survival strategy long-term. We cannot "nation build" our way out of or around a death-cult ideology. We must defeat it instead. GWB should have exited Iraq--thru Iran--and destroyed both along the way. This is the crux of the problem with this deal. The savages still have leverage here to torture the hostages for years to come. I don't see this truce holding for very long before Hamas unilaterally alters the truce or commits some new atrocity that causes its collapse. The chances of all the hostages, dead and barely alive, being released is at something close to 0.00%. Time will tell. Ace makes good points about the value of ending the war with 80% objectives achieved. I’m just not sure. The objective was elimination of the threat. It’s binary. They didn’t eliminate it, so Never Again becomes “as soon as they rebuild.” You can’t reason peace with barbarians. I guess I’m unrealistic but I think they were too surgical and measured. I think the entire place should have been leveled.

"Israel has achieved remarkable things with this anti-terror campaign, and, thinking about the Pareto Principle, I'd say they've gotten 80% of the military achievements they sought."
Gaza...can't make anything. As long as Israel controls the Philadelphi corridor...Gaza can't rearm. Maybe they can sort out a few pipe bombs, but that's it. Meanwhile, Israel, can rearm, can gather intelligence, can become even stronger. Send them zero construction materials. Food, water, and tents. Medical supplies, and that's it. The deal WILL fall apart - Hamas is assured to break it. I say, let them. Meanwhile you saved 33 or 23 or whatever people from death. Presumably the Americans. "My hope is the deal behind the deal is Trump telling Benjamin Netanyahu that when, not if, Hamas so much as lobs a rock at Israel, Israel can wipe them from the map."
I don't like the deal but this is pretty much my hope also. Maybe Trump can speak about how he got involved to help Israel put a horrific situation to a close at their request as a loyal friend; he would have preferred much stronger terms but deferred to Israel; and that if Hamas breaks it they will soon be an eternal part of a lonely, windswept, glass field. Posted by: Ben Had at January 15, 2025 05:34 PM (oT+t6) Netanyahu was (politically) a dead man walking anyway. 7 Oct 2023 happened under his watch, and that was the biggest security screw-up in Israel's history. There was always going to be a price that he had to pay for that. His only option was to thoroughly destroy Hamas, and unfortunately, he waited a little too long to start because Biden was telling him to hold off. When that happened, it was only a matter of time before the world would turn against Israel because Hamas had time to dig in. Posted by: Darrell Harris at January 15, 2025 05:44 PM (p/hjh) 326

When the hell is someone going to finally stand up and admit they're not with Hamas, they never were or they were very quickly moved out from them, and no one knows anything further but don't you worry 'cause we'll keep a hand in by feeding and funding terrorists groups and even adding a few into our TPS Programs if the mood so strikes?! They need to march every single resident of Gaza the 25 miles over to the West Bank to join their crazy cousins, the UN can fund terrorism much more effectively since they will all be in one place. something I feel about releasing the terrorists in such large numbers to hamas in exchange for innocents being not a big deal is this.
Sometime after the release of these pieces of shit, Hamas will violate the ceasefire. Israel will have the fixed number that they can expect of their people returned, and now, they have easily identifialbe terrorists that they can track, and kill without having to feed, or send to court, or deal with internal protests over. They are releasing quail into a trap farm, while receiving real living people of value in exchange to expand their intel, and targeting reference.
