I suspect the Sundowner administration will start disappearing evidence very quickly. I wouldn't be shocked if on Jan 20 there isn't a spread left of anything that was done on the last 4 years, like it didn't happen.

I'm on the fence about the Tik-Tok thing. On one hand, if congress is behind it that makes me skeptical/suspicious right away, but I do see the concern for the corrosive nature of it seeing what's posted on X. Some of that stuff is just...well...it's just stupid.

Evening and morning to all the Saturday toilers and weekend early risers! Is it really Saturn's Day? Seems like it's been two weeks since the last one.
It's 40 F. outdoors, wind chill of 32, winds 14 mph NNW. I think I'm gonna stay indoors this morning. It'll be warmer tomorrow, though the early am temp on Sunday is supposed to be about as low as today's. We'll see. It's that wind and wind chill that's the killer, of course. What I discovered on Thursday, that the ex-Mrs. Wolfus No. 2 passed away almost ten years ago, is still echoing in my mind. Along with, naturally, the things I wish I could have said and should have said. When I head out today I'll see about picking up a nice card for her mother and some stationery for a letter. Though what I'm going to write I have no idea. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 11, 2025 06:26 AM (omVj0) 52

More thoughtful theologians than the idiots at the NY Post have been grappling with the Problem of Evil for thousands of years. I do have some thoughts, however: 1) God chastises a people through bad leaders (who exercise their Free Will to do evil) 2) Was this church a "church of the world" where homosexuality, pride and the "Sparkle Creed" were celebrated? 3) While you can't see it in the moment, there is a salvific value to suffering. Thinking about going out to breakfast, though my local diner won't open for two hours yet. There is something comforting about coming out of a cold wind into a warm, brightly lit space smelling of good food and coffee. It doesn't work the same way when you come out of sticky breathless heat into air-conditioning. If it's raining on that hot morning, it's better, but not much.

I refurbished a lot of vintage tube radios. Zenith Trans-Oceanic, lots of fun. On pure DC battery power on a mesa top, away from all forms of EMI, it is amazing. Tube audio is “better” in some ways. I rebuilt a couple wooden console radios for money, there was one that turned out LOUD, could get the cops called on ya easy.

Triplegangers, a company that digitally scans real people and then sells them, got knocked off the net by OpenAI's web spider searching for fresh meat. (Tech Crunch)
I liked the part of "increased AWS bills". So whether you have an interest or stake in AI, you get to pay direct costs to every single AI project that discovers your website and begins looting it. "86% increase" in non-user traffic. The article didn't say from what to what, so I don't know if this is something to be concerned about. Still, having numerous companies decide to target your website/business for their plundering and you must bankroll the costs of them stealing your data through higher server costs and deprecated paying customer service should have some recourse. But our courts suck and our juries are made of emotional, irrational children... so I guess we just build larger server farms and more windmills to power them. Hokum is one of the dumbest politicians around, and I know that's saying something considering the competition. Her 'we're saving you money on congestion pricing because we were gonna charge $15 but now will only charge $9. You're welcome', on top of her video riding a train (with bodyguards) saying 'the subway is safe' released one day before the woman was burned to death was just a little out of touch. Congestion pricing will be the final death blow to Manhattan. It's a ghost town worse than before. There is simply no traffic; more businesses are going to fail. Wish I had your know how. I have a Fender Super Twin Reverb that burnt at least one power tube. It takes a total of 6, 6L6GC tubes. I found a place I can get 4 output matched tubes but not 6. I'm well put ever using it, at least on stage, but would be nice to have it in proper working order for when I go to sell it.
