Greetings Horde! Welcome to Thursday's ONT. How's your week been? For some reason, this keeps going through my head.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department announced this week it would be sending some surplus supplies across the globe to Ukraine as the country staves off the ongoing Russian invasion.
Boots, hoses, nozzles, body armor and medication were among the items packed and shipped out during an event earlier this week. The care package was loaded at an L.A. County fire station in Inglewood on Thursday afternoon. Fire Chief Daryl Osby and county supervisor Janice Hahn were in attendance and helped pack up the items.
“As Ukrainian firefighters continue to work under extreme peril to remove victims with limited resources, we felt the need to step up and help in some way,” said Osby in a news release.
As the conflict in Ukraine reaches its fourth straight week, first responders are being hampered by supply shortages and lack of equipment, the Fire Department said.
“It is our hope that this equipment will help Ukrainian first responders continue to save lives and help them in some small way to resist the Russian invasion,” said Hahn, who is the designated supervisor overseeing the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Canadian Doctors Suggest Harvesting Organs From Euthanasia Patients Before They’re Dead
Canadian doctors have suggested killing euthanasia victims by taking their organs, according to multiple reports, whistleblowers, and public talks. Medical freedom advocates are documenting emerging ties between “medical assistance in dying” (MAID) and organ harvesting.I have no words.
“The best use of my organs, if I’m going to receive a medically assisted death, might be to not first kill me and then retrieve my organs, but to have my mode of death — as we medically consider death now — to be to retrieve my organs,” said Rob Sibbald, an ethicist of the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario. Sibbald spoke on “Threats to the Concept of Brain Death: Ethical Reflections” at the Critical Care Canada Forum in November 2018. There's another difference between the southeast and the "western states" though - how much land is federal land. The feds stipulate policy on all of that federal land.
I don't think it's as much of a difference in California. But California drives a bunch of federal policy and it could be tied into the same "non-invasive" stupidity.

Went in at last to see an orthopedic specialist today.
They (the doctor and a student) listened to my many and varied complaints. The doctor asked the student what nerves ran from C5-C7. She answered, apparently correctly, and I was packed off for an X-ray on my neck.
The conclusion was, not tendinitis as the ER diagnosed from the shoulder X-ray but arthritis in those vertebrae in my neck. Steroids were prescribed and I was sent on my merry way.

Please report to your Primary soon. Take the steroids. If you have blood sugar issues, be prepared for your sugars to get wonky. If the issue is in your neck, you may benefit from physical therapy and seeing a physiatrist. If steroids and PT do the trick, awesome. However, the next step is physiatry and an MRI.
The steroids will knock down the inflammation. Hopefully, if your shoulder pain is referred from your neck, it will improve rapidly with the steroids.

He inquired why, and it turned out they had excellent air conditioning, nothing else came close, so that’s what they drove.

Dyan Cannon's autobiography was fascinating, as (unbeknownst to me) her husband Cary Grant was an LSD freak who participated in frequent sessions with Timothy Leary as his "guide."
She tried it once -- having resisted for a long while -- and had such a bad acid trip that she refused to ever do it again.
[BTW, I once met their beautiful daughter Jennifer Grant as an undergrad at Stanford.]

Totally not on topic of Justie snack, the arsonist caught for the recent Kenneth fire (and how do they name these?), is reported to be homeless. I read in 2023 there were over 13k fires started by the homeless (oh, wait, the new woke word for them is "unhoused"). This was only in LA. God knows how many in San Fran on the shitwalks.
There was a plane, from Quebec, scooping salt water from the Pacific for one of the fires before it was hit by a freakin' private drone. Salt water is still water, altho not good for soil but no one other than Rikki Lake appears to be farming (pot). And not great for electric cars, but who cares at this point? On reddit I saw a photo of a nitwit spraying bushes with almond milk. Unsure if it was true, but a good use for almond milk IMHO.
One more thing: during the critical hours of the early fires, the air space was blocked for helicopters and planes that could fight the fire over LA.Why? Well, Joe Biden became a great-grandpa and flew in AF1! Brilliant!
So far 2025 has been very educational for me.

Not a ford fan by a long shot, but damn if they didn't have the coldest frigging ACs. After my first car, a 1968 GTO, got totaled I was stuck driving a 1973 torino for a few months. I never felt an AC that cold to this day. You could hang meat in the car.

Kam was frozen out by everyone except that guy she is married to. She needed a doobie badly. And then Jill sat by her and she tensed up more. It was a tense scene. I doubt anyone heard the speeches that was watching.
The Clintons did not speak to Obama, who was yakking with Trump. Gore the Sex Poodle was there and behaving from what I saw. Hillary appears to wear a wig now vs her flat greasy strands of evil.
Basically Jimmah's funeral with presidents was a junior high cafeteria clique. The only thing missing was food throwing and gang warfare.

It's 22.8F now. It's warmed up a smidge, and was down. Dew point is rising slightly. High level clouds are moving in, and there's a hazy/fuzz look around the bright objects like Jupiter and Mars and the Moon.
Snow should be begin here sometime around 10AM, heaviest by mid-afternoon. The question is how much that will turn into sleet and freezing rains. Their models have been divergent on that since yesterday.

'Tis Freya's Day, the consummation devoutly to be wished. And I am . . . tired, in more ways than one.
I found out yesterday that the ex-Mrs. Wolfus No. 2 passed away from cancer . . . in late 2015. Stumbled across her obit on the local newspaper archives, and though she'd changed her first and middle names, I recognized the names of her family. No idea if it happened here or elsewhere; the obituary was unclear.
I don't know what to think or feel or do. Probably the thing to do is send a card and a letter to her mother -- if *she's* even still alive; she'd be 84 now, and even if she still lives in the same house. Not that I know what to say.
