Darwinism in action. Squirrels fall all the time. The ones big enough to hit "damaging velocity" before "terminal velocity" get weeded out of the gene pool.

Non-flying ones still do the same "glider" thing, they just don't have quite as much skin. So it just acts as a bit of a parachute, not a glider.

Also, Superior, Colorado lost almost 1000 houses from a quick-spreading wildfire a couple of years ago, just after Christmas. Same scenario, dry, high winds.

And now everything has come undone in a matter of a days because CA government play acts at running a state. That this has happened is not remarkable, instead it was inevitable. Hopefully the follow up fire will consume these play actors too - the nation and the states can no longer tolerate such "leadership."

I have a 2 year old tom that is very fat, but I think he was an apartment cat who never got outside until I adopted him. I was hoping he would thin down now that he can do things like hunt mice in the woodshed, but he still weighs too much. He is still a bit confused about things like rain, but he likes it.

LA doesn't really deserve pity as the previous dozen or so years of similar fires laid waste to less.... notable areas nonetheless.

370 I read that the wolves are chipped or collared. Parks and Wildlife knows where each is all the time. They can tell when and where they die.
