Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | If You Don't Think We Dodged A Bullet With Chlamydia Harris, Just Look at The Current Insanity In California! The post-modernism that is so destructive to traditional culture is nowhere more evident than California. Its Democrat/Progressive super-majority in its legislature gives the governor carte blanche to enact pretty much any insanity he wishes, and of course he is happy to sign bills vomited out of the feeble brains of those mid-wits who California elects as its representatives. Add a maniacal regulatory state, and we have the perfect storm of craziness. California Wants To View Air Quality Through 'Racial Equity Lens'The job posting says the agency “is developing a racial equity impact analysis tool, known as CARB’s Racial Equity Lens, to advance the agency’s vision for racial equity — a future where all Californians equitably breathe healthy and clean air, benefit from actions to address climate change, and where race is no longer a predictor of life outcomes.” CARB says it is seeking five “passionate community leaders and racial justice experts” to shape the Racial Equity Lens, which it calls “ground truthing.” To do this, these “experts” will need to “validate data and information by comparing it with direct, real-world observations or measurements from community members the tool is intended to serve.” Huh? As an aside...how and where do these fools learn to write gibberish? The concept of environmental protection policy being tailored to race is an expected extension of California's fixation on race as being the driver of all variation in culture. No matter that the data are clear, that there are huge variations in outcomes among minorities. The overwhelming assumption in this dystopia is that race trumps all. White people (men in particular) are injured less by pollution... by "Climate Change..." by every social variable that these mad social scientists can conjure. But not just race! Psychiatric pathology is now a reason for protection and elevation to the cherished top of the grievance pyramid! School told girls 'transgenders have more rights' as trans runner took away girl's varsity spot, parent says Ryan Starling told Fox News Digital that the loss of his daughter's varsity spot disrupted his entire family emotionally, as cross-country played a pivotal role in her life. And then when his daughter and other girls on the team confronted their school administrators about it, he claims they were told "transgenders have more rights than cisgenders." [bolding mine] At least they are honest about their favoritism! Of course in the backward and racist/sexist Midwest, where people are stupid and ignorant and don't even eat kale, they do things like protect high school girls. How very revanchist of them! And because they are irredeemably evil and traditional, they are trying to extend that protection to college women athletes! Indiana Lawmakers Are Looking To Extend Transgender Ban Into College Sports The current law in Indiana, which was introduced back in 2022, bans anyone who was born a male from competing against girls who are in kindergarten all the way through high school. Well, lawmakers want to expand that into college, with Republican State Reps. Chris Jeter, Robert Heaton, Joanna King and Michelle Davis filing a bill to do so. “To ensure a level playing field, it’s important that girls compete against girls, and boys against boys,” wrote Davis in an official statement sent to the Indy Star. “As a mother and legislator, I authored this bill because I’ve heard directly from Hoosier parents who want to ensure female athletes have a fair shot at competing and earning recognition.” This is exactly what America needs, and these people should be praised and supported for their efforts. And the states teetering between the insanity of transgenders and a normal and sane approach to athletics (and everything else) should be emboldened by this. Does anyone think that the election of Donald Trump to his second (third?) term has anything to do with this? I sure do. Trump and MAGA are becoming the lodestar for our journey back to a more sane America. He has made his feelings clear, and he does not support the transgender lunacy on our playing fields and in our military, and rejects the obsessive fixation on race. For that alone he is worth the price of admission! And California can huff and puff and erect legal barriers to the coming changes, but all they will do is drive the remaining sane people to states that don't celebrate anti-scientific social engineering and the destruction of traditional society. Slightly OT, but also slightly related:
In the book I'm currently reading, the world is experiencing numerous earthquakes and tsunamis. It's believed that the gods are restless. So to appease the gods, one cult decides to sacrifice some of their people to them. One underling asks, "What if such shakings and quakes continue? What does one do then?" The head priest's reply: "Well....Even greater sacrifice of course! The offering obviously was not sufficient to answer Mael's ire." Money or bodies...the Left seems to have no problem shoveling resources at a "problem" hoping it just goes away somehow. Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at January 05, 2025 12:12 PM (BpYfr) 17
Yay Indiana legislators!
We here in southern Indiana are hosting a snowmageddon. We are told that there could be as much as 12" of snow over the course of today and tonight. Usually, if the forecast calls for 6" of snow we get maybe 2 inches at most. But the snow started around 0600 and it's still going strong! We have around 3" now. We are overdue for a big snow storm. I'm enough out on the plains to be in rain shadow so I was web surfing trying to see if the foothills got the predicted snow. Oh and to go further on this - if some rightwing activist pulled this kind of stunt everyone he ever talked with would be facing federal charges and every site/forum would be shut down. And TBH I hope and pray Trump comes in with this attitude to deal with our domestic leftwing insurgency. Hell, Alex Jones lost everything for discussing a conspiracy theory - DU/Kos/etc are not just openly calling for murder, their members engaged in organized physical violence against people they don't like... The lovely and occasionally mistaken Mrs naturalfake wanted to watch a CBS series "EVIL" that has appeared on Netflix, so we plowed through the first 3 seasons. (Apparently, the 4th and last season has yet to show-up on Netflix.) Basically, "Evil" is the X-Files with demons and a big ole grudge against the Catholic Church. Also, the shows concept of evil is anything non-Woke, so you can imagine how that plays out. The show concerns 3 assessors of the need for exorcism which are: a black guy studying to be a priest, a white gal ex-Catholic agnostic, and a muslim brown dude atheist. And you can also see how that plays out. When the show sticks to the demon of the week and/or the potential coming of the birth of the Antichrist it's usually okay, but too often it's all about scoring some lame woke point often a very confused point. In the first season the white gal virtue signals about how she hates the Catholic church's view on abortion, then she spends the whole 3rd season trying to chase down one of her unfertilized eggs that is possibly being used to create the Antichrist. Abortions okay but she acts like that unfertilized egg is the most precious thing evah. (con't) Posted by: naturalfake at January 05, 2025 12:48 PM (iJfKG) 104

She only gets positions when the machine decides she’d be useful; but now that she’s washed up on the national stage what good is she? Younger replacements with a better future are a dime a dozen. Kamala’s finished, she’ll end up with some fake job at a California university somewhere.

Also, California has now made it illegal to ask for ID when voting, ensuring that Californians will not be voting their way out of this.
Posted by: Duke Lowell =============== Which is why we may not have "dodged the bullet" as the thread title suggests. The country MUST pass a law forcing ID for voting in Federal elections. This is constitutional. There is even argument that state elections are also liable to such rules under the 14th and 15th Amendments. Enough with the fraud! Who are You? Voter ID law and election integrity should be top priority in new Congress. Republicans need to push these reforms, which as noted above are popular with voters, as soon as possible, while they control both houses of Congress. Congress has ample authority to do this under the Constitution, and the best time to do it is before tensions begin to build before the next election season, and when states have time to make the necessary changes....this should be on the front burner. https://is.gd/veK12o Posted by: Archimedes at January 05, 2025 01:04 PM (xCA6C) 154

CA is a tourist restaurant with food worse than a Soviet freighter but the best views in the solar system. In terms of its appeal.
The "views" are what nature provided: geography, climate, beauty, natural riches. The "food" is what the people themselves have allowed or approved for the last 30 years: idiotic crippling regulation, lawlessness, adoption of ruinous stupid policies in every direction. Here's something weird and interesting that I've noticed:
We often go on walks in a nature preserve nearish to us. And as expected see all kinds of folks sauntering about, but- Whenever there's a well-advertised muslim atrocity, a couple of hundred muslims show up at the park and all walk around the nature preserve in a huge group. Not a demonstration or anything like that, just a huge group, every single time. Not sure exactly what this means. Is it- 1)ha ha ha, we're so proud of our muslim brother's jihad murder of you infidels. We're parading about as muslim supporters. Fuck you! 2) Look, we're just normal everyday Americans walking in this park in a huge group and not murdering anybody at all. See? We're just like you! 3) It's just a weird coinky-dink. There are *some* remaining limits or guard-rails on the tolerance of disastrously stupid CA voters, it appears. Of all places SF has replaced both a DA and a mayor who were part of the collapse of the city's condition, and in LA a DA was booted as well. So, in extremis, it's possible to get rational voting here. Though it remains to be seen how much better the replacements will be.

At one time in California you could enjoy a lot of outdoor sports, including powersports like dirt bikes, boats, race cars, etc. because, normally, the climate allowed that sort of activity year round. And you could avoid the rains depending on where you wanted to "play."
Not so much anymore. And the climate and topology does permit a wide range of activities... which is a draw for some people. It used to be laid back. But it's a tide, and lowered boats all around. Fun and easy for some to pretend it's an isolated problem (CA voters). But the pathologies in play affect the entire society and every state to some extent.
Senate representation from TX, SC, KY and OK - (OK!) - and other "red" states - can obviously be disastrous. A place like AK sends a *Democrat* to the House? By adopting the idiocy of "ranked choice" voting? The GOP from MI to FL to KY to wherever stocks the House with the party that has gone along with every major disaster of recent years - and has showcased its (apparently justified) contempt for its voters with pathetic transparent stunts like "repeal Obamacare!" while obviously not intending to actually do so. Posted by: rhomboid at January 05, 2025 01:23 PM (1m82a) 176
Another answer to the CA rules be using around the nation would be for other states to pass countervailing rules.
Remember when one state considered banning EVs? Every red state should be considering similiar laws, not only to give it back to the left in general but to force companies to make a decision - do you follow the CA standards and get banned in TX/FL or the TX/FL standards and get banned in CA? The right just doesn't understand how to fight and it is infuriating. Posted by: 18-1 at January 05, 2025 01:23 PM (t0Rmr) 177

California Wants To View Air Quality Through 'Racial Equity Lens'
It is astonishing the extent to which local governments in the Portland area engage in explicit racial discrimination. The transit company reduces service to neighborhoods viewed as too rich and too white, minorities are allowed to sign up the day before white people for Portland's oversubscribed swim classes, the local redevelopment agency explicitly hired a black construction firm to do work in a formerly black neighborhood - it just goes on and on. It would be wonderful if Trump's US Attorney for Oregon started enforcing the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which bans all this. Posted by: The ARC of History! at January 05, 2025 01:24 PM (uxCna) 180

As noted by another, your personal situation greatly affects how much the idiocy of your fellow voters in CA changes things. No kids in school? Big difference. Benefitting from Prop 13 bigly? Yuuuge financial difference. In a relatively normal suburb or area (they exist in SoCal, even LA area)? Another huge difference. The pain is also greatly reduced if 1) you're not very observant or worldly 2) you didn't live it before things went stupid. And this is part of the problem. Just a obvious warning to those who hope for Kalifornia to fall apart, the resulting aftermath could seriously damage the Republic. It's like that adage; if a customer owes the bank a million bucks, it's the customer's problem. If a customer owes $100 billion, it's the banks problem.

How on earth did multiple states adopt a policy of copying California policies?
Which happens to be completely illegal. Agreeing to copy California policies is an interstate compact. Under the Constitution, interstate compacts have to be approved by Congress. Recall that in Term 1 Trump actually closed the border (official border crossings) for a short period to extract some compliance from Mexico - it worked, very quickly (think it was about "stay in Mexico" policy?).
There was panic on both sides of the border. A well-planned give-no-f***s not-running-for-re-election approach could move mountains when it comes to border security. Just hope Don realizes not only would that approach work, but instead of hurting GOP chances, it probably would both boost them, and help transform the GOP (by sorting out the bulk of useless seat-warmers from actual leaders). gourmand, Grocery Outlet can be very good, especially if you know what to look for (I mean there truly "outlet"-like items, that change constantly). Very glad one opened close to us, it's now the go-to for many things.

I don't get California's beauty. San Francisco is Bridgeport CT with seals. LA is as gritty and gang ridden as Tucson. San Diego is fucking Bethesda with a far shittier zoo than Kansas City. Beaches? Filled with bums and illegals. Santa Monica? Like the movie 28 Days Later.

Grocery Outlet has a lot of stuff that didn't sell the first go around at another retailer, but we don't usually buy that stuff.
Costco, I may cut it loose, since back in the day we bought a lot of wine and booze there, and while we're not teetotalers, we don't drink nearly as much as we used to. Posted by: gourmand du jour at January 05, 2025 02:12 PM (c6hLR) 240

The pain is also greatly reduced if 1) you're not very observant or worldly 2) you didn't live it before things went stupid. And this is part of the problem. But like much else, and not just here, it's generational.

Modernity is the problem. Not 'postmodernism', which no one understands anyway. Posted by: jillyjilly at January 05, 2025 04:13 PM (umBAm) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0494 seconds. |
