THE MORNING RANT: Undocumented Texans, Festive Live Trees, and the Ongoing Euphemism Treadmill

Amidst all the recent chatter about the collapse in trust given to the legacy media, I haven’t seen the media’s Orwellian alteration of language listed as being one of the reasons. We’ve all laughed at “gender assigned at birth” and we’ve even mocked a few terms back out of use, such as “Latinx” but the corrupt media is unrelenting in its effort to eradicate certain truths and ideas by eliminating the necessary language to describe those concepts.

A couple of new additions to the euphemism treadmill that I saw this week were:

FESTIVE LIVE TREES

Whoever runs the Twitter account for News Channel 5 in Nashville (WTVF) apparently finds the word “Christmas” so offensive and triggering that a tweet regarding a story about Christmas tree recycling used the clumsy term “festive live trees” instead of Christmas trees.

Festive Live Trees - 2.JPG

This is going to make caroling a little more difficult…

“O festive live tree, O festive live tree, of all the trees most lovely…”

UNDOCUMENTED TEXANS

The Texas Tribune is really struggling with how to eliminate even the concept of there being foreign nationals in this country illegally, while still advocating for them and covering their plight. Having moved from “illegal alien” (the actual legal term) to “illegal immigrant” to “undocumented migrant,” the Tribune is now trying to erase the notion that there is even a foreign provenance in the subject matter, so they rolled out a comical new term this month, ”Undocumented Texans”.

Undocumented Texans - highlighted.JPG

Be careful, though, if you start using the abbreviated term “undocumenteds” in lieu of “illegals.” I’m sure that “undocumenteds” will also be pronounced racist very shortly.

In fact, I already see the media contorting itself into not using the word “undocumented” too. The phrase “people living in the United States without authorization” is gaining traction among the propaganda media. This is from a recent Los Angeles Times article.

Trump has promised to conduct the largest deportation operation in American history, something that would upend the lives of the 11 million people living in the United States without authorization.

I may need to start a new periodic series highlighting additions to the media’s euphemism treadmill.

So if some guy murders his wife, and he gets away with it for a long time (as some murderers do), then that means he shouldn't be prosecuted for it? We should just let him get away with it?

Hmmm ... that is actually more accurate than the other euphemisms. It's not bad at all. It strongly suggests (1) these people need authorization to live in the USA (they do) and (2) they don't have such authorization (which means they can't live here).

>>"11 million"....that is so 1980.

That could actually be the correct number.

Here's the thing, the 1986 amnesty was not the only amnesty, there were a number in the 90's and the early aughts and seeing as the administrative states method of dealing with people who are here illegally is to simply wave them through the system, so as an inner city school system would simply allow kids who had no business being promoted or graduating, so too do illegals magically become illegal.

So, that could legitimately be the number the federal government recognizes as the population of people here illegally.

45 Among their damning findings:

- The COVID virus contained a feature allowing for easier transmission to humans that was constructed in a manner similar to that described in a years-old Chinese study
- A Chinese military researcher applied for a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine just weeks after the virus was first sequenced in 2020. (He later died after falling from the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology’s roof, according to US investigators.)
- WIV researchers worked with US researchers who trained them to construct viruses without leaving a trace of them being engineered.

Rather than amplifying these findings, they were all but ignored as Director of National Intelligence (and Coyote-like Super Genius) Avril Haines was preparing her report on COVID origins — which Biden ordered in May 2021.

It strikes me as an attempt to exploit the general Texan love for Texas (not exclusive to Texas, of course) to subtly remove illegals as an out-group. "They're all just Texans like us!"

Like, if they just agreed to allow the deportation of those who have committed other felonies while here or are wanted for felonies in their home country the issue might go away.
And they might get their de facto amnesty of the rest.

But they won't budge.

Which is great. Because it's going to expose how very, very much worse the problem is.

109 Easier there, since Christmas is later...

The Bolsheviks initially tried to ban Christmas, which didn't work very well, since even Party members with kids were surreptitiously celebrating the holiday.

The Commies then got smart and moved all the secular aspects of Christmas to New Year's - the trees, the gifts, the holiday meals, and so on, while continuing to suppress religious observances on Orthodox Christmas.

There are entire genres of New Year's songs and New Year's movies in Russia.

Then the Commies got overthrown, and everyone, including the Russian Orthodox Church, decided that they liked having New Year's as an unambiguously secular holiday, and Orthodox Christmas as a unambiguously religious holiday.

And all non-essential workers in Russia get the week off between New Year's and Orthodox Christmas.

It's a but more subtle and worse than that.

They reframe is at "houseless" because it moves the problem into an inanimate sphere, which is housing as such. The problem - the sole and exclusive problem - is that they don't have houses. Mere physical objects as both the cause of the problem and its solution.

This both removes culpability from either the vagrant himself or the politicians who encourage and expand vagrancy through tolerance for it and adding to the conditions that help cause it (drugs and mental health, most often, and the two are related) and places it on a physical object. By extension, that physical object is then associated with an acceptable demon group that is not responsible for the problem: capitalists. Specifically, landlords and property speculators.

In Portland, this is specifically true. They have "houselessness" because property speculators own empty condos. The speculators need to be expropriated to solve "houselessness" in Portland.

The younger Dems are trying to grab power from the dessicated fossil branch of the party.

Some of the candidates that have thrown their hat in the ring include gun control activist David Hogg, 24, who is running for DNC vice chairman...Hogg, a who gained fame as a survivor of the Parkland school shooting in Florida, had come out prior to the election and said the Democratic Party had to do a better job about reaching the male demographic..."Long-term, we have a lot of work to do to provide positive examples of what actual masculinity looks like that is not defined by putting down women or other people, but by lifting others up and being a true leader," his post concluded.

I have my doubts that Hogg is the guy to define masculinity.

195 And it's exhausting! Thanks, Buck.

Locally - a 1st around here - there are by fewer lighted, decorated homes than last year & even during C19 (the great majority were true believers). Higher utility bills contributes to some, but it's also be due to the rapidly changing - much more diverse - neighborhood, and now a decent pool of houses becoming unkempt rentals.

There have been few charities collecting for Christmas,, rather it was and is for Holiday gifts. It began Halloween night and will continue in some cases until March 2025! From the little I observe, a vast majority of gift recipients have no Christian or Jewish affiliation whatsoever, and appear to think the frequent giving events are just a normal, everyday thing.

We're also creating a gift collect syndrome similar to food pantry collection. There are obviously individuals & families who are making collection days part of their routine lifestyle such as going to work or school. Monday it's here, Tuesday there.

225 > Left unanswered is how Portland is going to pay for housing for every indigent moving to Portland if they actually start providing free housing.
----------
There was a discussion here about some of the more poverty hit areas. Places where the house is basically a shack, a run down mobile home that's been patched with discarded plywood sheets and tin. Yard full of broken down vehicles, trash, etc.

The bleeding hearts want to "fix this." By using other people's money. Because they're suffering some sort of guilt complex. Or it's something they see every day and are uncomfortable.

So, it was suggested they approach these indigents themselves and use their own money to resolve what has been a standing "issue" for decades, if not longer around here.

The results; most the people told them to piss off. And only a few of the "deeply concerned citizens" even attempted to approach the folks "living in poverty." Because it would require them to bare some responsibility. Which is what homelessness boils down to. Taking responsibility.

233 “Global governance” requires erasing national borders.

That’s what all this shit is about, for 60 years now. It is a conspiracy. It ain’t theoretical. They very publicly have said what they wanted to do, and have been going about it ever since.

They don’t want to lift the “underdeveloped” countries up - they want to drag everyone else down. Everything is done with an eye ultimately to destroying Family. Faith too - thou shalt have no other Gods than the State. The de-industrialization means America is unable to wage even a defensive war. “We” don’t even make Aspirin any longer.

Near as I can tell, America is on roughly a 25 to 35 year time delay on realizing just exactly what sort of fuckery is being contemplated and perpetrated on them. Slowly dawning, way way too late

2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.

3 He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.

4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

5 His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies.

6 He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.” He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.”

7 His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.

My guess? A good way to get rid of it. If it's lightly contaminated dirt - and we have a *lot* of lightly contaminated dirt in this country - it's not going to do any harm to chuck it into the concrete mix and it solves a problem. The solution to pollution is dilution.

Just a guess.

She invited me in.

There was a Christmas tree in her living room. She explained that she "Just loves Christmas so much she has it all year long". Then she offered me some Christmas cookies.

My mother had a difficult childhood, and Christmas often brings back painful memories for her.

I found myself in a similar situation this year. We lost my brother to cancer several years ago. He and I were one year apart, and we were treated as twins growing up.

I didn't let on, but I couldn't stop thinking about my brother at Christmas this year.

Growing up, we always kept our tree and decorations until Three Kings. I still do. My wife's parents, Irish, took their stuff down on New Years day. I never saw that until I began dating her.
