Finger Lickin' Good ONT

Welcome to the Thursday ONT. I have a...strange urge to go into this building.

Haliey Welch Disappears

Welch became an online sensation after she was quizzed on her sex life by YouTubers Tim & Dee TV. When asked what makes a "man go crazy" in bed, she replied: "You gotta give 'em that hawk tuah and spit on that thang." She has since transformed her newfound fame into a successful merchandise line and the Talk Tuah podcast, which has featured notable guests like entrepreneur Mark Cuban and Wiz Khalifa.
For the last couple of months, Welch has been busy building her empire, which has included launching her $HAWK coin on December 4. She has since gone radio silent after she received extensive backlash when her meme coin crashed, with its value plunging by $440 million in just 20 minutes. This led to allegations of insider trading and rug-pulling. In the cryptocurrency world, rug-pulling is when developers abandon a project after raising assets, leaving people with worthless tokens.

I realize that the original incident was crude and rude, but I kinda admire how she leaned into it. It's not everyone who recognizes that their 15 minutes of fame are only gong to be 15 minutes and strikes while the iron is hot. She launched a podcast, a line of clothing and has even a cryptocoin. The later spiked insanely and then crashed, since that Haliey has gone silent on all her social media. My guess is that she took the time to tawk tuah lawyer who advised her to shut up, but Twitter is abuzz with speculation that she took her own life. It'd be a real shame if she put a Glawk tuah her head, but that's how these things go sometimes.

Turtles All The Way Down

Mitch McConnell Is The Personification Of America In Decline

“The administration will face calls from within the Republican Party to give up on American primacy,” McConnell added. “It must reject them. To pretend that the United States can focus on just one threat at a time, that its credibility is divisible, or that it can afford to shrug off faraway chaos as irrelevant is to ignore its global interests and its adversaries’ global designs.”
McConnell, however, has been in the Senate for nearly 40 years and has overseen the wholesale liquidation of America’s domestic fortitude and power abroad.
As The Federalist CEO Sean Davis pointed out, “McConnell has overseen the destruction of America’s manufacturing base, the destruction of our military to the point we haven’t [won] a war since 1991, the 20x increase in the federal debt, the rise of China in to a nuclear and economic superpower, and the leftist takeover of every major institution in America.”

And to all the “but muh judges” McConnell defenders I reply, “But muh country”.

A Play In 3 Acts

Them's Fightin' Words Down Here In Texas

Buc-ee's Is The Sickness At The Heart Of America

“Come inside,” beckons the Buc. Whatever you desire, this miniature metroplex can conjure. No man is an island, and no road trip can go by without a pit stop for sugary drinkies, a cone of candied nuts, or a glob of molasses-sweet pig meat on a bun. Grab yourself some Beaver Nuggets, whatever the fuck that is. Don’t worry, it’s delicious. Never you mind what might be inside. Would you like a machete or a fish finder? Perhaps a t-shirt of your favorite sports team? A meat smoker?
This country is a seriously bizarre place to live, and Buc-ee’s is a microcosm of our American existence at present. This combination gas station-grocery store-way of life is a mirror we have erected to show us ourselves. It’s the highway equivalent of junk food. It almost certainly shouldn’t exist, and we are worse as a culture for having had it, but goddamn does it flip the right switches in our collective brain. It is truly junk that shouldn’t be great, but the rot at the core of America is what makes us who we are.

And then he says that he loves the place, so maybe it's all tongue in cheek. The subtitle of the article is “The gas guzzling junk food store is the epitome of American hubristic excess” Personally, I agree with Ralph Waldo Emerson. “If a man has good corn or wood, or boards, or pigs, to sell, or can make better chairs or knives, crucibles or church organs, than anybody else, you will find a broad hard-beaten road to his house, though it be in the woods.”. The path to Buc-ee's is an 8 lane superhighway, and Goddamn if that isn't the epitome of American entrepreneurial SUCCESS.

Meanwhile, Up In The Hat

Canada now has higher property and violent crime rates than the US, and it’s rising

According to the study, which used Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Justice statistics and Canadian reported crime data, both countries showed a “dramatic” long-term decline in property and violent crime rates after the 1990s till 2014. After 2014, however, Canada began to see a rise in crime rates, reversing progress.
The study found that from 2014 to 2022 when the latest crime statistics were available, the violent crime rate, such as murder, robbery, and assault with a weapon, in Canada increased by 43.8% to 434.1 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
This means that Canada now has a 14% higher population-adjusted violent crime rate than the U.S., which saw a violent crime increase of 5.3% over the same period, with 380.7 crimes per 100,000 people.
While America’s property crime rate, including burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft, decreased by 24.1% between 2014 and 2024, with 1954.4 crimes per 100,000 people, Canada’s property crime rate increased by 7%, with 2491 crimes per the same metric.

That Justin Castreau sure has been a disaster. I'm excited to see what Pierre Poilievre can do.

It Would Be Irresponsible of Israel NOT to Attack Iran’s Nuclear Sites

Going nuclear has its risks, as well — including international economic sanctions — but there are certainly some elements of the Iranian leadership who understand that the regime’s losses in the war it started could encourage its domestic opponents to rise up against it.
Therefore there is a very real danger that Iran will rush to develop a nuclear weapon — and there is a real opportunity to prevent it from doing so, one that may not return soon if the regime can rebuild its defenses and its terror proxies.
Israel, and the world, would regret missing this opportunity.
Biden told Israel not to attack Iran’s nuclear sites, but he is on the way out. Trump has said Israel should attack, but wants calm by the time he takes office.
It’s now or never.

I hope Israel hammers them.

Got dumb Dateline on in the background, and this commercial from Feeding America is constantly playing. They are bragging about their new 100k sq.ft. storage building.

Shitload of Corp speak and buzzwords, including the godless-commie codeword "collectively".

Looked them up, checked out their 990.
They took in $4.3 BILLION last year, most of it in in-kind donations (i.e. food).

One "person" donated $1.1b in food, apparently.
(I am wondering if this would be a privately owned business.)

The bigwigs that run the place make at least a quarter million a year, with one person raking in $900k.

At least it appears that gubmint entities are not handing them money.

27 What the fuk is wrong with the writer of that Buc-ee's article?

It is damn popular around here. The exit off of I40 to the Buc-ee's near us is, during prime vacation season, backed up more than two miles.

The only bad thing is the asshoes that fill their vehicle and then leave their cars at the islands and go into the store. Even 120 gas pumps aren't then enough - the place becomes deadlocked.

Too many sparks of divinity admitted. Euroland and Canada sneered for decades over the higher US crime rate conveniently ignoring just who was committing crimes.

They FAFO when they opened their borders themselves to the world too and found that they did not in fact have magic dirt.

Takes a long time to build up a peaceable citizenry that follows the law. Dismantling that rule of law takes less than a generation.

Eh, not so bad. It was a CR bill under suspension of the rules in order for an immediate floor vote and required 2/3rds majority and without the Dems who wanted the whole hog, the bill would have failed anyway.

Expect an even slimmer bill to go through regular Rules Committee vote and then to the floor. That would only require a majority vote.

Dad grew up in Grandpa's gas station. He said the rules to a successful gas station was to run, do not walk to the island, clean the glass all around, check the fluids, and keep the bathroom clean. "You sell the same gas as the place across the road, so make the difference in how you treat the customer"

NEW: The man accused of attempting to m*rder streamer Nick Fuentes is 24-year-old John Lyons.

Very dangerous times especially when we have degenerates praising Luigi Mangione for executing a man in the back.

Lyons reportedly traveled 140 miles to Fuentes' home after allegedly m*rdering three family members.

Fuentes has released footage of the man calling out for him at his home.

Fuentes was reportedly live-streaming when the man showed up, an action that may have saved his life.

Officers who were called to the scene spotted Lyons who ran away and forced his way inside someone's home.

When inside, he shot and k*lled two dogs.

Lyons eventually left the home and fired multiple shots at police. The officers shot and k*lled him.

26-year-old Sara Mason, 61-year-old Janis L. Mason and 23-year-old Caleb M. Mason were k*lled earlier that day.

139 77 There’s a place called Wally’s that is copying the Buc-ee’s formula and doing a very good job of it. I pass one on I40 outside of St. Louis when I drive to and from Michigan. Or more specifically I don't pass. They have warm freshly made potato chips, great gooey butter cake, and the cleanest bathroom I’ve seen in a gas station other than at Buc-ee’s.

Just saw this from Berenson today:
https://tinyurl.com/284swg8c

Yale team found that vaccinated people were still making spike protein over two years after the last shot, which pretty much confirms the "vaccine" has been integrated into human DNA.

They're having trouble getting this study published in journals.
Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at December 19, 2024 11:16 PM (w6EFb

This study shoots down a theory I had regarding why there would be any period of protection at all since vaxxed people end up with "negative protection" after a period of time and why the period of protection gets shorter with each booster.

See, I had theorized that the spike proteins created from the shot filled all the available ACE-2 receptors so that coronaviruses could not dock there. Then the body's cleanup process would clear out the spikes, leaving the receptors open again and subject to infection. After each booster, the body gets more efficient at cleaning out the spikes and so the protection period gets shorter.

There has never been any scientific evidence or data showing the COVID "vaccine," inoculates or acts as a prophylactic or even attenuates symptoms.

You would have expected a precipitous drop off in cases and severity once the "vaccine" was introduced, but that's not what happened, what happened was the same phenomenon present in all novel-virus outbreaks, a slow decrease over time as the population gained herd immunity and the virus attenuated as it circulated through populations, as has been observed in all other outbreaks.

Or alternatively...

It's all bullshit.

The shots train the immune system to respond in a limited way that is easily evaded by the virus, especially as it mutates, and so the shots offer nothing useful as far as an immune response. So I was trying to figure out why there would be any apparent protection at all.

If the body continues to make spike proteins but is still vulnerable to infection, then those spike proteins are not "clogging up" the ACE-2 receptors after all as I theorized. Maybe. I'm not a scientist.

I'm basing this on studies that suggested that there was a period of lower likelihood of infection from two weeks after the second shot of the initial series for about 20 weeks. After a booster or two, the lower infection period was only eight weeks. I have not heard how many weeks at this point for people getting annual boosters. I assume it's very brief by this point.

I never thought there was a positive net protection because the period of greater infection rates within two weeks of the shot plus the negative protection after 20 weeks, 8 weeks, etc, made a person more likely to experience infection rather than less so. Also, the leaky "vaccines" promoted harmful mutations that succeeded in infecting more people who were initially immune.

326 Gonna vent here since the "vaccines" are already a topic tonight.

I cautioned some of my young relatives, sending them the best summary of the potential adverse effects of the shots that I could find but most didn't listen to me. Not only are the poor things STILL getting Covid repeatedly, but they have suffered vaccine injuries and severe, multiple bouts of various other respiratory infections (influenza and RSV). One had Covid, influenza, and RSV, all during her pregnancy. Another now has POTS and has to wear a monitor.

Meanwhile, we unjabbed who were supposedly at greater risk didn't catch Covid despite repeated exposures until several rounds of others getting boosters caused the virus to mutate enough for us to catch it. We handled the illness more easily than the youngsters did and have not had a repeat in spite of further exposures. And we've had no lingering issues.

Every person I encounter who is still getting Covid has gotten the shots. Just ran into another person this week who has had Covid four times and influenza twice despite "having all her shots." I resisted suggesting that maybe her strategy wasn't working.

382 AOP,
As long as you are running an LTS kernel, daily updates rarely bork your Linux system. There are some distros that use bleeding edge kernels and developing new techniques like immutable Linux or newer file systems, etc but mint is not one of those. Sometimes peripherals like printers if using CUPs as a driver can do weird things or if you are using newer vid card drivers like vulkan.

Some of these are more stable if you have daily updates turned on instead of sometimes getting a mismatch of system updates affecting peripherals or vid card drivers.

Dual booting is about the only problem recently that got borked by an update as microsux security certs were outdated which led to windows not booting or even grub in some cases.

Edge case as more people are moving to containers, etc.

Next build I do, I will have that as I seldom boot into Windows now but use it for a couple of programs occasionally. Dual booting is becoming obsolete as hardware now allows for better options.

We miss southern food. Fried catfish is my favorite thing to eat and you can't get it here which is understandable.

I have had Popeye's on several occasions at their store near the Home Depot in East Mesa. Good enough that I would go back, and have done. The shrimp is good, too. I went to a Popeye's location in Calgary, and they didn't even have the same menu. Walked out. Calgary has Chicken On The Way, and it is awesome. And a lot cheaper than Popeye's.

The rather trippy picture is actually a pretty good rendering of their original, and still operating location, since 1958, at 14th Street NW, and Kensington Road.

The "corn fritters" on the menu are pretty close analog to what are known as "hush puppies" in the south.

401 My county Board of Commissioners had their last meeting of the year today.

They authorized severance checks for two employees, one a deputy something or other, the other the interim county manager.

The one big asshole Democrat (only 3 of 11) wasted time and caused trouble by trying to delay issuing the checks, and hurry the two fired people out the door, instead of letting them work until the end of the year.

Finally, the county gave money to some right to life group. Only squawking was from two of the 3 Dems, (the big asshole is pro-life, which surprised me).

Chick to the right of the nerd Chairman looks like she fell out of bed (messed up hair), which is strangely hot to me.
