Those flowers are so large and numerous that I had to stabilize the stems!

The struggle is real!

Seriously, We bought a couple of amaryllis from the high school band. They go door to door every fall, selling them or poinsettias to finance...something. Hopefully not a cocaine-driven orgy.

The kids are always earnest and friendly and very focused. It is a real pleasure, and makes me hopeful for the future.

Why monitor the pressure in the spare tire? For $20 you can buy a compressor (runs off the cigarette lighter) that you can keep in your trunk and pump up the spare if/as/when needed.

That's what I do with all our vehicles.

I hate those damn sensors with a passion. I always let some air out of my tires after a big snow storm, because the municipalities around here tend to clear roads before they should, or right before the temperature takes the usual post storm dive. As a result you get what I call pseudo-ice (not solid ice, but packed snow with little friction). Lower tires allow a safer and better grip. But, every time I lower the tires more than 4 psi under the recommended, the damn sensor goes off with a bell.

180 FWP solved. We have a toilet that used to have rust stains on the jets that are underneath the rim of the toilet. Some dilute HCl took out the rust, but of course, that would only be temporary.

Then, the light bulb went on. I had a Mg sacrificial anode that I'd replaced, so I folded it up (it's segmented, like sausage links), and placed it in the toilet tank.

Voila. No more rust!

When I first encountered Elon, one of the things that struck me was that he was never interested in doing anything “for money” — it would always boil down to “is this of existential relevance to humanity”.

And, sure, if you’re running a business it has to be financially sustainable to scale and be effective through time, but the point is he was never interested in anything, no matter how lucrative, unless it was of existential relevance to our species.

It was rare and refreshing — and hopefully increasingly common amongst us as time goes forward.
