It's weird, around here we have black momma bears all over the place. They are calm as hell, even when their cubs are with them and they walk through yards and up and down the streets. Some folks have become used to them and we haven't had any incidents.

Friend of mine feeds squirrels on his porch. He used to have a cat, and the cat and some of the squirrels would go on hunts for mice in the yard, with the squirrels being the beaters and the cat doing the pounce and kill. She didn't like mice to eat so the squirrels would haul the dead mice off into the shrubbery.
Grey squirrels have been noted to eat eggs and nestlings in the spring.

Our pup came from the breeder with diarrhea pre-installed. Can't remember the name, but the vet told us it was an inevitable exposure. So we gave her some sort of powder, started adding pumpkin to her kibble, and haven't had issues since she was 6 months.

Biff,

We have had several Danes. Absolutely love the breed. The last two we had were half sisters and we also had two Teacup Chihuahua sisters.

They would all sleep together and the littles would stand under the Danes when they were eating and they would eat the food the sloppy Danes dropped on the floor.

No one ended up being a Scooby snack, lol.

We still miss them to this day.

111 Biff. Along with the rescues I had 4 Wolfhounds , then 4 mini wire haired doxies and I love certain breeds. I have raised quarter horses forever and am a lineage snob on that front.

With bear spray, tire irons, and knives, during a prolonged wrestling, we finally persuaded the bear to retreat. I comforted a weeping and bleeding Klaus with the news that we had some good footage. That Klaus - he was definitely a trouper.

Bloat. Never exercised them for an hour after eating. Raised bowls. Even did the raw diet with one of them. But two of them still bloated with torsion. They made it through the surgery, but it was constantly in the back of my mind with all of them.
