Trump Press Conference: There'll be "Hell to Pay" if Hamas Doesn't Release Its Hostages Before My Inauguration; Republican Senators Who Aren't "Reasonable" Will Be Primaried

That clip and others below the fold.

Some other clips from his hour and fifteen minute press conference:

On the drones:

Collin Rugg
@CollinRugg

JUST IN: Donald Trump says the federal government knows exactly what the drones are up to, says "something strange" is going on.

Trump said he decided to cancel his trip to Bedminster.

"Our military knows where they took off from. If it's a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went."

"For some reason, they don't want to comment. And I think they'd be better off saying what it is."

"Something strange is going on. For some reason, they don't want to tell the people."

He accused former pollster Ann Selzer of attempting to influence the election with her crackpot Iowa poll showing Kamala Harris ahead by 5 (IIRC).

Collin Rugg
@CollinRugg

JUST IN: Donald Trump announces he is launching a lawsuit against pollster Ann Selzer for allegedly rigging her Iowa poll to influence the 2024 election.

Trump also announced that he would be suing 60 Minutes for editing Kamala Harris' answers.

"In my opinion, it was fraud, and it was election interference. You know, she's got me right always."

"She's a very good pollster. She knows what she was doing."

He also said he's filing a lawsuit against CBS over their editing of Kamala Harris's interview.

There is no legal claim in either case, unfortunately.

He says he might look into sparing TikTok from Biden's plan to force China to sell it. He says he has a "soft spot" for TikTok because it helped him "win the youth vote by 34 points."

That's.... not accurate. He didn't win the youth vote. He lost it. But he did improve his performance with the youth vote, including a +24% gain in Michigan.

46 First, there's no doubt that Selzer intentionally faked her Iowa poll, and took a big enough pay off for doing it so that she was able to close her business for good after doing so.

But it may not have been meant to sway the election; there's a good case to be made that the payoff was made by one or more of the whales in the online betting markets, and that this last minute boost to Kamala's numbers allowed them to unwind their pro-Kamala positions cheaply just hours before the election. Given that there were hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, a 1 or 2 million dollar payoff would have been a cheap way out.

That said, I reminded her that he has to do it more than once because he's not just talking to Hamas. He's trying to go around the media and make sure he owns the space should a "deal" happen before Inauguration. We all know if it does, it will be because of him, but the media will claim Kamala did it.

So he has to do this repeatedly. But in a sane world where he wasn't living in a traitorous asshole country, he would have only announced it once to Hamas, and much preferred it that way.

It's a chaste, serious form of beauty, not overly emotional and yet, in being so finely controlled, our emotion when hearing and singing it is brought to a fullness of perfection."

Nailed it.

There is a thing called election interference - I guess. But elections are about politix. Which is anything that voters decide to care about. So not sure what "interference" is supposed to mean. Rules/laws agin' foreign $ contributions, certain kinds of domestic contributions, blah blah blah. Sure, "crimes" possible there.

But "election interference" as a *crime* is the Nth indicator of a dumbed-down civic culture yapping about non-existent "issues". Unless there are even more ridiculous (and unconstitutional) election laws than I am aware of (possible).

Includes corrupt government officials such as Rita Crundwell and the judges who presided over the Kids for cash scandal.
Note: total includes 6,500 people pardoned on October 1, 2022 who were convicted of what was previously the federal offense of simple possession of marijuana."

Minus the 6500, that is exactly less than 400 from the number of pardons Obama gave (1927). Biden will surpass that before January, no sweat.

Biden, nor his "handlers" pass laws. Best they can pass are EO's. Trump can rescind ALL of Biden's EO's on day 1.

Posted by: rickb223 Gold & Silver Spot Prices at December 16, 2024 01:49 PM (AhvDO)

161 46 First, there's no doubt that Selzer intentionally faked her Iowa poll, and took a big enough pay off for doing it so that she was able to close her business for good after doing so.

Posted by: Tom Servo at December 16, 2024 01:31 PM (wyMQY)

I 100% believe that this was the case, and I posted that in my response to Sean Davis' tweet earlier today. The French Whale put a $45 million bet for Trump on Polymarket, and Selzer's poll brought the odds to almost even, giving someone a great opportunity to minimize their potential loss if they took the other side of the Whale's bet.

Another data point that leads me to believe this was the news that Biden's DOJ had gotten a warrant to confiscate the phone from the head of Polymarket last month. Hmm.

Why would one use a drone to search for it? If the radioisotopes were the target of the theft, chances are they are out of the country, or in a secure facility until such time as the perps decide to deploy them. Dropped his own appeal after the other Trump appointee case was decided.

Reminds me of the stupid Reid decision to kill the filibuster in order to fill the Court of Appeals, DC circuit with Obama judges. That meant Trump had free hand to put his own judges in office (but strangely not his own appointees via Turtle's assholery.)

Sorry rhomboid to disagree but simply put Afghanistan was never going to be a liberal democratic state anymore than S. Vietnam was. Ditto for Iraq which was a war of choice for the US.

Winning militarily in Ukraine and trading lives/blood/and treasure for farmland and a few resources is also not a very smart move in a broader strategical sense. He pissed off all of his neighbors and is now dependent on China for its good will. I doubt you get any rapprochement with the West until Putin is gone. As a result, the sovereign fund has shrank, oil is trading at the low end and likely not to improve, he lost client states, and his economy has 100 percent mortgage rates and roaring inflation. None of that is reversible immediately and even aside from the waste of masses of casualties and equipment.

I'm going with just plain training and trying out certain techniques. As an example I would point to that incident out in Oregon where multiple airliners said they witnessed a red "UFO" start stationery, then shoot upwards at an impossible speed to a higher position with no radar detection. In other words, 100 or so small drones with a synchronized LED light array that starts with the one at lowest altitude and lights up each in turn going up before illuminating the highest one. An illusion to portray motion. Why they were testing it in a populated area suggests the expected incompetence of our government. Someone thought it would be cool to fool the pilots and create a mystique.

Yes and no. PMs rely upon not being done in by members of their own cabinet.

The Tories are a perfect example. After Boris won a big majority, the Tories and him personally pissed it down the toilet by not acting on Brexit, tyranny during Covid, and doubling down on the suicidal green policies impoverishing their country. So you got three British PMs--Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak in a mere four some odd years.

262 Sorry whig but A'stan was not a stupid of war of choice when it began, and conceived as taking out the hatchery of 9/11 - the last 18 years or so were ill-conceived (as implied by the initial, controversial, super-light footprint in 2001/2002). So pick a date, past that it certainly was pushing on a string, but the initial actions were unavoidable.

In Iraq there was deemed (quite reasonably) to be an intolerable, unmanageable threat in the post-9/11 context, and that threat was removed. Consolidating that quick victory and exploiting it was a sound move - confounded by initial idiotic military and civilian incompetence, which was eventually fixed (easily). There was also substantial intelligence and intimidation value that paid off. Key result was no strong totalitarian central state able to marshal the country's enormous resources to nefarious ends, something that had happened before (though there seems to be mass amnesia about anything prior to 2003).

Rank Choice Voting (RCV) is a complete shitshow and undermines the principle one person one vote and that a plurality of the votes, at minimum, are required to win an election. RCV demands that an outright majority be won but only through complete fuckery that requires people to select multiple candidates and then hand that decision over to an 100% non transparent vote rigging scheme. It also coerces the voter to vote for candidates they often have zero interest in seeing win. What it often does is end of "electing" candidates that couldn't win on a straight up or down vote. Banning this Democrat election interference scheme outright nationally is something Congress should get after while the Republicans control the Federal government.

Which means they are running them. Maybe its for a legitimate reason, maybe its not. But if people are concerned in these blue areas of NJ/New England they are going to have to call those Reps/Senators that don't give a shit what the voters want and make them change that attitude.

Possibly Trump is referring to FCC action as he would have standing to go after broadcast licenses of CBS for example in administrative law suits.

Given one guy got a prison sentence for merely posting a meme about voting via text for the 2016 election as unlawful interference, that makes individuals at CBS and other places liable in criminal and possibly novel civil court lawsuits for their actions.

What the hell is going on? Does Trump have seriously nasty compromat on a bunch of people? I mean, are they running for the exits to avoid having their heads removed by their countrymen when Trump is inaugurated and starts declassifying and releasing all the dirt?”

Look at what happened in Syria as an example; when a system runs out of steam and is hated by almost everyone (and in this case we’re talking about the techno-bureaucratic states that have taken over the west during the last 30 years) then that system hangs on trying to pretend everything is fine, and suddenly collapses everywhere, all at once. Trump, along with Milei and Bukele, are the vanguard of a new style of leadership that will take over from the old, failed format.

Bernie was popular with young males shut out economically from the new economy and Bernie used the old rhetoric of social class rather than identity politics espoused by the new Democrats that was appealing to them.

Most people want to be a part of something virtuous (to them) and that is the saddest thing that has been manipulated so many times by politicians and revolutionaries in order to gain power.

Disillusionment of a society when it figures out it has been lied to for years often destroys the very trust needed to run a country without extreme coercion by the regime.

318 AOP, reportedly our radiation detectors are REALLY good to the extent of needing to detune them a bit to avoid background radiation from building materials, earth, etc. interfering with them.
Posted by: whig at December 16, 2024 02:20 PM (ctrM5)

Even a "prospector-grade" scintillometer like I have will detect that background radiation, which is never zero. A gamma-ray spectrometer will detect and identify the source of gamma rays. Upthread mentions it is a Germanium-68 "pin source", which would no doubt have a distinct gamma-ray spectrum. Also sounds like entirely too small an amount of material to be dangerous if dispersed in a dirty bomb.

You would have to ask the NEST teams about it as I am sure that exactly how good our systems are is highly classified. But you would have a better public handle on the physics of the matter as a geologist.

The usual assumption of dirty bombs back when I knew anything about it would be something both toxic in its own right and deadly in terms of radiation. A bit fear were issues of medical isotopes being used in the past or nuclear processing waste in countries abroad.

There has never been such without collateral consequences including the US in its heyday of free speech from the Warren Court to the nineties.

Even back in the mythical early era where Jefferson and his party fought the Alien and Sedition acts, Jefferson was quite comfortable with states applying those, just not the federal government.

Madison was most depressed by his failure to get freedom of conscience into the Bill of Rights than any other provision that did not make it through Congress. That is because even then, the focus was on ordered liberty, not freedom per se for the sake of freedom.
