CNN "Reporter" Does World a "Vital" Service By Bringing Us a Heartwarming Story About an Assad Torturer Being Released from Prison

Hello friends!

A new week begins, filled with fresh CNN clownfartery.

CNN, the torture advocacy network.

CNN played up the release of one of Assad's top torturers as a heartwarming story.

Prisoner CNN helped free from Syrian prison was actually notorious Assad regime torturer: report

The prisoner CNN helped free from a secret facility in Syria was actually a notorious member of Bashar al-Assad's forces known to torture those who refused to pay him off, according to a shocking local fact check.

The network went viral last week with footage of the startled prisoner being led from the prison by journalist Clarissa Ward, who called it "one of the most extraordinary moments I have witnessed" in her 20 years of reporting.

But "independent and unbiased" fact-checkers Verify-Sy published a detailed report Sunday saying that the seemingly innocent prisoner was actually Salama Mohammad Salama -- a first lieutenant in Syrian air force intelligence with a long history of alleged war crimes.

"We have subsequently been investigating his background and are aware that he may have given a false identity," CNN acknowledged to The Post. "We are continuing our reporting into this and the wider story."

The CNN story last week showed Ward and a camera crew, escorted by a rebel fighter, visiting a former Syrian air force intelligence headquarters in Damascus and freeing the man who was found under a blanket locked in a windowless cell.

He gave his name as Adel Ghurbal and claimed to have been arrested by government authorities three months earlier -- and said he had no idea the Assad regime had collapsed.

Verify-Sy noted, however, that he appeared "well-groomed, and physically healthy, with no visible injuries or signs of torture -- an incongruous portrayal of someone allegedly held in solitary confinement in the dark for 90 days."

He also "did not flinch or blink even when gazing up at the sky" despite having said he had not seen sunlight for three months.

Verify-Sy then found that there was no record of an Adel Ghurbal in the region -- leading it to his true identity, Salama, the outlet said.

Known as "Abu Hamza," Salama worked at several security checkpoints in Homs and was involved in theft, extortion and coercing residents into becoming informants for Assad, local residents told the fact-checkers.

He also killed civilians during the Syrian civil war in 2014 -- and allegedly detained and tortured young men on bogus charges, many of whom refused to pay bribes, Verify-Sy reported.

Vichy Jake Tapper is required to praise the Nazi media he works for at all times. He followed orders as usual.

Nothing about the guy indicated he'd recently been imprisoned. His hair was trimmed. His beard was trimmed. His face looked full, like he'd never missed a meal. His eyes didn't look sunken, the way you get when you haven't had enough water. He also wasn't reacting to the light of the cameras as if he'd been locked in a dark place.

76 Ace: "clownfartery"

Fun history trivia of the day:

In 19th century Paris, one of the most popular stage perforers was a guy who billed himself as "La Petomaine,"r "The Farter." He'd go up on stage and could actually "sing" songs with his farts, emitting them in different notes and lengths. He had total fart-control for hours on end. Audiences gave hm standing ovations. One might ay he was the master of clownfartery.

That looked fake as Hell to me. Some deep trenches each with a small heap of bodies, or maybe piles of laundry, with no dirt on them? If you dug up a mass grave, you would expect the half-rotted corpses to be intimately mixed with the dirt used to backfill the hole. I suspect those "mass graves" are freshly dug, and salted with a few bodies of Assad's supporters. And Christians and Druze.

129 “I’m, as you know, not a supporter of President Trump’s. I didn’t support him in this election. I didn’t the last time he ran either, largely for matters of character,” the Utah Republican, who was the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, told CNN’s Jake Tapper in a wide-ranging interview on “State of the Union” on Sunday.

But Romney acknowledged Trump’s grip on the party he once led.

“MAGA is the Republican Party and Donald Trump is the Republican Party today,” he said.

Asked about his sustained criticism of Trump, which dates to the president-elect’s first White House run in 2016, Romney described himself as “kinda outspoken” and said he felt that Trump “was wrong for the country, wrong for our party, that he wouldn’t win.”

But, he noted, “I was wrong about that.”

210 Firebrand pundit Candace Owens has been named “Antisemite of the Year” by watchdog StopAntisemitism, which says she “blew the competition away” with more votes than anyone in previous years.

“Candace Owens’ witch’s brew of antisemitism drew from vile medieval blood libels, including claims that Jews drink Christian blood, conspiracies that Jews are pedophiles who control the media and are ‘taking over America,’ and modern toxic anti-Israel hysteria,” StopAntisemitism’s founder, Liora Rez, told The Post.

“There is no psychotic rabbit hole too extreme for this poisonous hater.”

StopAntisemitism bestowed the title last year on Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). Other recipients have included Ye, the Hitler-loving rapper formerly known as Kanye West, in 2022, and Tlaib’s fellow “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) in 2019.

Anywho.... The Mannheim Steamroller show was awesome!!! Hubbymayhem knows I love the Steamroller. Got tickets for the show in Indianapolis yesterday. I had a big smile on my face the whole time! Even when their light show blasted me in the face. Damn! That was bright! In a darkened theater it was blinding. But I loved every minute. When the lights were brighter I looked around and people were just sitting there, expressionless. I was smiling and bopping to the music. Jeez those folks needed to lighten up.
We bugged out before it was over because the seating was making my back hurt and Hubbymayhem knee hurt. Also hungry and wanted to beat the crowd out of the parking garage. It worked! 248 OT We were returning home last night from a friend's house and a driver hit us and fled the scene. There were no injuries. Thankfully it was a minor collision.

We were in a roundabout, the other car was entering the roundabout. The other car didn't yield. They hit our rear passenger side just in front of the rear tire with their front driver side corner.

We called the police. A state trooper took the report even though it was technically on a city street. We didn't get a license plate and the trooper apologetically told us he'd close the case after a day if nobody else called in and reported more information.

Unfortunately some electrical damage seems to have occurred. The car won't start this morning and it's doing weird things like lights are flashing quickly during startup attempts.

They are going beyond parliamentary procedures to strictly illegal ones to prolong their grasp on power. See Romania for example or movement to outlawing the opposition in Germany.

Problem with doing criminal actions as rulers was described long ago by Lao Tzu (I think, could have been Confucius). Roughly paraphrased, "Put a man in a ditch unjustly and you had better do everything to keep him there because the injustice you dealt him will make him ready to do you in if you let him out."
