Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Time's Person of the Year Is Donald Trump... ObviouslyObviously he was the only possibility, but Time is an amateurish leftwing propaganda blog and often refuse to give Republicans the designation. I'm very annoyed at having to pretend that Time has any remaining relevance or that this stupid "award," created explicitly to provide easy content during the holidays, matters at all, but in this case, it does matter that Trump left them no other choice. The leftwing rag makes it clear that the award, which they once gave to Hitler, is not intended to give legitimacy to Trump. We don't need your legitimacy, and you have no legitimacy to confer any longer.Trump's political rebirth is unparalleled in American history. His first term ended in disgrace, with his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results culminating in the attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was shunned by most party officials when he announced his candidacy in late 2022 amid multiple criminal investigations. Little more than a year later, Trump cleared the Republican field, clinching one of the fastest contested presidential primaries in history. He spent six weeks during the general election in a New York City courtroom, the first former President to be convicted of a crime--a fact that did little to dampen his support. An assassin's bullet missed his skull by less than an inch at a rally in Butler, Pa., in July. Over the next four months, he beat not one but two Democratic opponents, swept all seven swing states, and became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years. He has realigned American politics, remaking the GOP and leaving Democrats reckoning with what went awry. Trump has a ready explanation for his improbable resurrection. He even has a name for its climactic final act. "I called it 72 Days of Fury," he says as the interview gets under way. "We hit the nerve of the country. The country was angry." It wasn't just the MAGA faithful. Trump harnessed deep national discontent about the economy, immigration, and cultural issues. His grievances resonated with suburban moms and retirees, Latino and Black men, young voters and tech edgelords. While Democrats estimated that most of the country wanted a President who would uphold the norms of liberal democracy, Trump saw a nation ready to smash them, tapping into a growing sense that the system was rigged. If America was craving change, it is about to see how much Trump can deliver. He ran on a strongman vision, proposing to deport migrants by the millions, dismantle parts of the federal government, seek revenge against his political adversaries, and dismantle institutions that millions of people see as censorious and corrupt.

Yeah, of course it's Trump, whatever Time says. The man has personally destabilized the DC regime.
You can love that regime (if you're a homo), or you can hate it like I do. But it's a citadel of evil precisely because it's so powerful and seemingly unshakable, and he shook it up but good in 2024. The media doesn't get to decide anything anymore. The American people decided Trump is a world-historical figure without regard to their febrile pandering, and their belated recognition of his importance doesn't mean a damned thing. They don’t care about any of the abuse. They didn’t care how badly it destroyed and divided our country. They didn’t care if they lied and whose First Amendment rights they trampled. Now the American people have taken their country back. The man they tried to destroy and murder has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix. The rule of law and a legitimate government of, by and for the people is about to be restored. Yet many of the same people are still working behind the scenes to subvert our republic. No thanks. They can never be trusted again, nor will I give them the slightest accolade. Let the chips fall where they may. I don’t believe in corrupting the system to go after these authoritarians. But I do believe there should be consequences for what they’ve done, equal justice under the law. Reap what you sow. Posted by: Marcus T at December 12, 2024 12:26 PM (DhyYx) 170

"His first term ended in disgrace"
Did it? Did it really? Because I seem to remember most outside the chattering class and elitists continued to like and approve of him almost absolutely. He survived not because he was discarded but because he was embraced. Still. The TDSers, the Deep Staters, and the MFM - not to mention Lefty apparatchiks - discounted him, but normal citizens didn't. They remained. The disgrace was the fraudulency that was foist upon them. "with his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results culminating in the attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was shunned by most party officials when he announced his candidacy in late 2022 amid multiple criminal investigations." And those grievances were not illegal nor criminal much as you, Time, and the political assassins would have history believe. He was not shunned by all the people who immediately and without hesitation despise the shunners which explains Trump's continued ascension which only waned due to conspirators inside and out of DC who hate the Founders' America. All those "party officials" are fleas on an elephant and posterity will record that. Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel Remembers Babbitt and Perna at December 12, 2024 12:34 PM (aXxgO) 215

The Bolsheviks' coming to power in Russia was one of the factors that led to the Nazis coming to power in Germany. So no Lenin -- no Hitler (perhaps), Stalin, or Mao.
