The UK Bans Puberty Blockers for Minors Indefinitely, Citing Unacceptable Risks

From David Strom at Hot Air, the repressive, fascist UK is actually less insane on this issue than the US.

The UK had already banned puberty blockers on a temporary basis for new users -- they still allowed it for those already ruined by puberty blockers.

Now they make that ban permanent, or, at least, "indefinite."

Ban on puberty blockers to be made indefinite on experts' advice

...

Existing emergency measures banning the sale and supply of puberty-suppressing hormones will be made indefinite, following official advice from medical experts.

The Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) has provided independent expert advice that there is currently an unacceptable safety risk in the continued prescription of puberty blockers to children. It recommends indefinite restrictions while work is done to ensure the safety of children and young people.

The NHS stopped the routine prescription of puberty blocker treatments to under 18s in March 2024, following the Cass Review into gender identity services.

Puberty blockers for the treatment of gender incongruence and/or gender dysphoria in under 18s were banned temporarily in May 2024 after the Cass Review found there was insufficient evidence to show they were safe. Legislation will be updated today to make the order indefinite and will be reviewed in 2027.

Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting said:

Children's healthcare must always be evidence-led. The independent expert Commission on Human Medicines found that the current prescribing and care pathway for gender dysphoria and incongruence presents an unacceptable safety risk for children and young people.

Dr Cass' review also raised safety concerns around the lack of evidence for these medical treatments . We need to act with caution and care when it comes to this vulnerable group of young people, and follow the expert advice.

We are working with NHS England to open new gender identity services, so people can access holistic health and wellbeing support they need. We are setting up a clinical trial into the use of puberty blockers next year, to establish a clear evidence base for the use of this medicine.

So they're still testing these terrible drugs on children, but at least they're not allowing any old doctor to prescribe them willy-nilly.

The UK looks at America and laughs.

The trans cult is crumbling in Europe -- now America needs to catch up

Tavistock whistleblowers and the Cass Review reshaped care for transgender children in the UK. In the States, the veil is slowly lifting

Whoever would have thought that chopping off the healthy breast tissue of 14-year-old girls could mean you end up in court?

Well, anyone, actually, who has been paying any attention to the gender madness of the last decade. In the US, where the practice of medicine is particularly connected to the practice of law, I predict a deluge of court cases over what has been done to children in the name of "gender affirming care".

Last week, a 20-year-old, Clementine Breen, filed a medical negligence claim against a Los Angeles-based doctor, Johanna Olsen-Kennedy, claiming she was rushed into irreversible treatment when she was 12. Olsen-Kennedy is the medical director of the Centre for Transyouth Heath and Development at the Children's Hospital in LA. Claim documents say that Breen saw a school counsellor when she was 12, and was unsure whether she was gay or bisexual or trans. She had experienced sexual abuse at six. It is claimed that Olson-Kennedy did not perform any mental health evaluation herself of Breen, but said she met the criteria for the commencement of puberty blockers.

Within a year she was put on testosterone and at 14 underwent a double mastectomy. No one, it appears, was monitoring her mental health and she began to feel worse and started cutting herself. Olson-Kennedy has also refused to publish the findings of a $10 million taxpayer-funded study showing that puberty blockers did not improve the mental health of children.

Breen now says she may be infertile, and says that she was never evaluated properly. Her parents tried to intervene, but Olson-Kennedy told them that this young girl may be suicidal, even though she had never expressed these thoughts.

This is, after all, the script, isn't it? That without mutilating the bodies of teenagers, these kids will all kill themselves. That there is no evidence for this doesn't appear to matter. Until it gets to court and then it does.

This is where we and many other European countries are far ahead of America. When evidence of the harmful effects of puberty blockers began to come in via longitudinal studies, the NHS stopped routinely prescribing them to under 18s. Finland, Sweden, Norway and Holland have also stopped prescribing blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors.

We have the whistleblowers at the Tavistock Gender Identity Development Service (Gids) and the four years of research headed up by Dr Hilary Cass to thank for bringing puberty blockers to a halt in the UK. Though I note that Cass is not on the BBC Women of the Year list, but someone called Brigitte Baptiste, a transgender scientist who says that trees can change sex -- I am not making this up -- is.

Actually, I don't think they're any less insane. The difference between the UK and USA on this issue has nothing to do with sanity. It has to do with money.

In the USA, there's a lot more money to be made on these ghastly drugs and procedures, and a lot more money available to pay for it.

If the UK doctors and pharma and consultants -- and by extension, politicians -- and other assorted Moloch cultists were raking in the big bucks on this abomination, they wouldn't be so quick to ban it.

Cost savings. Britain is too poor via its National Health Service to do the lengthy medical treatment route when that money spent could go to pockets of politicians.

UK economy is making them rival the Germans and French for the worst economy in Europe but UK has a smaller economic base to work with than Germany and less agriculture GDP buffering than France has.

I expect parity between the dollar and pound soon and perhaps something similar to the Euro v. dollar.

If Trump and Congress take DOGE seriously, we might be able to keep our reserve currency status a bit longer, have a stronger internal economy less subject to energy shocks from the Middle East, and put a shock collar around Chinese adventurism.

That is a problem across the West and Asia and bad economies create lower fertility rates and aging societies create lower GDP growth. Nasty problem that the WEF and UN figured would allow endless migration from those societies with overpopulation to replace the native populations in the developed world.

Problem is that not all societies are equal and migrants are colonizing rather than acculturating. People are not widgets and that is something economists generally do not understand or deprecate its effects if they do.

Then they stopped caring about actually winning, instead of cheating their way into power, so they stopped actually winning.

Then they actually stopped caring about cheating, thinking their position was inherited somehow automatically by virtue of being who they are, and so they stopped being relevant in any way whatsoever.

86 "The repressive, fascist UK is actually less insane on this issue than the US."

At my grammar school I went through the grades with a pretty brunette girl named Bessie. Always liked her and thought she was sweet. (A non-sweet nature can reveal itself even that young.) The other day I found a second-grade school portrait picture of her with her signature on the back. I don't recall if I'd asked her for a pic, or if she'd just given it to me, but apparently at least one of us liked the other even at age eight.

The last day I saw her was the first day of school in '65, when Hurricane Betsy hit. I know she graduated from a local high school the year I did. Wonder how her life developed . . .?

All the people we used to know

I don't know what they're doing with their lives
But me, I'm still on the road

We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point

165 Cold hard truth...most kids follow in the footsteps of their parents on a lot of things...religion, occupation, politics.

So, as much as it pains me to see da yutes making stupid decisions that will effect their lives in ways they can't yet comprehend....I, also, note that it's no less important to thin out the gene pool when necessary every so often.

The true monsters are the parents who hold up their son wearing a dress as a status symbol of some sort. The ratio of celebrities sporting this trend (aka self-absorbed popularity worshipers) who are all too vocal in announcing their children switching genders seems to back up this thought. Or the Disney employee with two transgender children (the odds on something like that can't even be fathomed...especially since there is no such thing as a "transgender" individual).

So, I have to admit, I'm willing to look the other way if it ends some truly vile family lineages. I'll shake my head and frown...and then do something constructive, and forget about them.

In sixth grade I'd written a Halloween scene featuring Larry Talbot, the Wolf Man, and some other characters. Everybody was excited about it. One girl named Bernadette, whom I'd asked to play a part, came up to me later and murmured, "I'd like it if you cast Bobby as [whatever I'd named the second male lead]?"

Looking back, I remember Bobby as having pretty regular features, and I imagine now he might have grown up to be quite the lady-killer. Even at eleven he had something going for him, I guess.

220 O/T I asked our grandson a HS senior to tell me about preference cascades. Look it up if you have to, said I, then write me a paragraph.

Here is what he replied.

I was able to find a book by Timur Kuran called Private Truths, Public Lies. I read a brief summary of it and the idea of preference falsification, defined as the idea of misrepresenting a preference under perceived public pressure. He provided examples of the Iranian, Russian, and French revolutions as examples of preference falsification at work, showcasing the results of public vs. private opinion. Some other solid examples of preference falsification were the 2016 and 2024 elections, where media analysis of the election results was proved wrong due to their inability to know the true opinions of the public. This "silent majority" has proved time and time again that social pressures and public opinion are not always truthful, and that in times of uncertainty, we are far more similar than we are led to believe.

I then asked the chatbot the same and got almost all the same phrasings. I then asked him to write in his own words why it is that right handed beginning shooters place their shots low and left.

Or we don't do either, and just keep moving forward...

I admit, my spouse is always flabbergasted with my "forward" viewpoint. If I look back, it's happy...no need to focus on negative.

Maybe it's having parents both die early...what's the point of wasting time on the past when you won't have unlimited time in the present...

And he wasn't the only asshole who said that crap to me. Some people think high school was the best time of their lives. I feel sorry for them. Every single day since I graduated has been better than that stain. Even the bad days when there was a death or a funeral.

Sweden Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Ebba Busch stated today that "she's furious with Germany" for dismantling its nuclear power plants, causing a spike in energy prices in Sweden.

EU regulations force Sweden to send that electricity to Germany, driving up prices in southern Sweden today to be nearly 200 times higher than they are in northern Sweden....
A 10-minute shower in southern Sweden costs around USD 5 during today’s price spike.

Part of the solution would be to allow non-managerial employees of closed agencies and departments the rights to bump people with less seniority in other comparable positions in other agencies. Managers are allowed to bump between agencies on a strict time-in-position seniority.
