Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Prices Jump 2.7% In November as Country Enjoys Fourth Straight Year of Transitory InflationBest economy in history, Jack. The Consumer Price Index, which measures the change in prices of a typical basket of goods and services, increased 0.3% from October to November, marking the second consecutive month of year-over-year growth in inflation. Housing costs, including rent and mortgages, were a major driver of last month's CPI increase, contributing 40% of the overall rise, while food prices saw monthly increases, including an 8% jump in egg prices. Economists anticipate another Federal Reserve interest rate cut at its December 18th meeting, though persistent inflation may complicate future decisions on rate reductions. Inflation remained a challenge for consumers in November, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 2.7% compared to the same month last year. Although inflation has slowed from its 2022 peak of 9.1%, prices for necessities like housing and food continue to climb, leaving families grappling with higher costs. Housing costs, which accounted for nearly 40% of the CPI increase, remain a significant burden. The Bureau of Labor Statistics highlighted that shelter prices, including rent and mortgage rates, have remained elevated since the pandemic, contributing to persistently high costs. Food prices also rose in November, with grocery costs increasing by 0.5% on a monthly basis. Eggs, a key indicator in the food category, surged by 8% during the same period. Economist Robert Frick of Navy Federal Credit Union noted that while the pace of inflation has eased, the ongoing rise in prices is difficult for many. "Shelter costs continue to be the number one source for higher prices, and that the rate of increase has slowed is no comfort," he told CBS News. "Many food prices rose... adding to the harsh burden of high costs."I wasn't kidding when I told you that this was the best economy in the world, Fat. Biden gave a shhhhpeesch yesterday in which he claimed that he's turning over the best economy in history to Trump. President Joe Biden said Donald Trump will inherit the "strongest economy in modern history," and warned the president-elect not to return to "trickle-down economics" in a legacy-focused speech Tuesday. But as Biden took credit for the nation's economic recovery out of the COVID-19 pandemic, he did compliment Trump for one decision: putting his signature on COVID stimulus checks sent to Americans. "Within my first two months in office, I signed the American Rescue Plan, the most significant economic recovery package in our history. I also learned something from Donald Trump. He signed checks for people," Biden said in a speech at the Brookings Institution, a center-left think tank. "And I didn't-- stupid," he said to laughter, adding: "But all kidding aside."Yeah that was the one mistake you made.
This was from a shhhpeesh he made a couple of days before: Biden's teleprompter short-circuits in speech taking credit for lackluster rural high-speed internet, 'fairly strong' economy: 'I lost electricity' President Biden's teleprompter apparently short-circuited Tuesday during one of his final speeches touting his economic record -- which included an abortive effort to massively expand rural high-speed internet -- forcing him to consult paper notes to make up for the technical difficulties. "One of the things that's going on here -- they just turned off my ... I lost electricity here, anyway," Biden said, visibly taken off guard just 10 minutes into his speech at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. Some Americans who were promised broadband access in underserved and rustic locales as part of Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure law -- but have yet to receive internet access -- have been similarly left in the dark.

I've seen some explanations that the prices of new cars have gone up so much, and so have repair bills so every accident they have to cover is way more expensive than it used to be. I bet it isn't cheap to cover EVs when they can spontaneously combust either, and I've also seen that EV crashes cause a lot more damage because of how much heavier they are than ICEs. Kid you not - this is medical care in one of the richest counties in the US thanks to unpaid (illegal) care at the end of the year. Total rationing/underbuying of medical supplies.
If they had to reset my toe today, apparently I would have gotten lidocaine - so that was a cutback at Urgent Care - guess I know now. I now have to order my own supplies at Amazon (the PA showed me) and go back tomorrow to a different site to actually get a shoe (b/c when the lady looked at Amazon, they were all the wrong size or the wrong type, so apparently, I get to have the spouse drive me to get it). This is current medical care for something that could have long lasting issues (b/c apparently my dislocation is still not perfect perfect, but good enough). Eye-opening. the prices of new cars have gone up so much, and so have repair bills so every accident they have to cover is way more expensive than it used to be.
Also, vehicles have become complex enough that some parts, if destroyed, for all practical purposes mean the insurance company will just pay you to total it because theyre not worth replacing compared to the cost of the vehicle. 417 In the case of Poindexter and North, the Congressional committee got a court order issued. not totally understanding why Posted by: SMOD ======= See Nixon v. US. Executive privilege has to be weighed and is not absolute in the case of criminal action. The alleged activity by Poindexter and North involved the Boland amendment barring US funds going to the Contras and the whole Iran scam was to fund the Contras via sales of surplus US weapons to Iran. Oh, and after a court compelled appearance by North and Poindexter, they received transactional immunity which made it impossible later for Walsh to get his conviction of Poindexter and North to stick on appeal. Additionally, insurance companies don't make their profits off of premiums. They make it investing (usually in foreign markets for some reason). In short, inflation touches everything, including insurance. Also, since the pandemic, reckless driving has increased significantly. And, as is standard in a down turned economy, many people pursue claims in all aspects of insurance in order to supplement their financials. in Texas the second a young wife gets that positive pregnancy test, it's off to the dealership to get that GMC Suburban Yukon Denali XL 4WD Heavy Duty with the 22 inch wheels for all their Target and Starbucks runs
----------------------- The most terrifying thing I've ever seen was a woman who barely had the top of her head over the steering wheel driving one of those things. I legit thought it was a child at first. Posted by: Ian S. at December 11, 2024 04:11 PM (2ocoG) ================= A young mother I know has a Suburban and is sort of scared to drive it. But legally, she almost has to have one, since she has to have her three kids in car seats. Her father and I laugh all the time at her, saying she could have bought a mini-van like we did, but she just sneers at those. Anyway, legally required car seats dictate a very large vehicle. I would have thought we would have had the capability to make those drones inoperable with some sort of jamming? I would be pissed if there were drones flying over my house like that and believe me, I'd have my husband doing trap practice on those things.

As someone out here in very rural Arizona (county population density averages 11 per square mi) I haven't seen any fiber , and my local Telcom has no plans in place, either.
I know 3 people who got this government subsidized fiber and from that, I've figured out where it's being installed. All three of their houses were exurbs with high growth rates, i.e. about to become suburbs. The telcos are using government money to get territory "wired up" before the area gets too developed to qualify. They aren't interested in areas with low population density which implies high maintenance costs coupled with low revenues. Posted by: buddhaha at December 11, 2024 04:23 PM (PAcRb) 313

There are all sorts of drone counter-measures. There are counter-drones that spray long pieces of ribbon or thin plastic string that gets caught in the rotors. There are electronic gun looking things that blast EMF radiation at them and overwhelms their electronics. There are drones that are built extra solidly that will literally ram the target drone out of the sky. Then of course there's the good old fashioned shotgun blast. The FAA also geo-fences sensitive areas like airports so commercial drones won't overfly them. Posted by: bonhomme at December 11, 2024 04:32 PM (Odg76) 332
