Prices Jump 2.7% In November as Country Enjoys Fourth Straight Year of Transitory Inflation

The Consumer Price Index, which measures the change in prices of a typical basket of goods and services, increased 0.3% from October to November, marking the second consecutive month of year-over-year growth in inflation.
Housing costs, including rent and mortgages, were a major driver of last month's CPI increase, contributing 40% of the overall rise, while food prices saw monthly increases, including an 8% jump in egg prices.
Economists anticipate another Federal Reserve interest rate cut at its December 18th meeting, though persistent inflation may complicate future decisions on rate reductions.

Inflation remained a challenge for consumers in November, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 2.7% compared to the same month last year. Although inflation has slowed from its 2022 peak of 9.1%, prices for necessities like housing and food continue to climb, leaving families grappling with higher costs.
Housing costs, which accounted for nearly 40% of the CPI increase, remain a significant burden. The Bureau of Labor Statistics highlighted that shelter prices, including rent and mortgage rates, have remained elevated since the pandemic, contributing to persistently high costs. Food prices also rose in November, with grocery costs increasing by 0.5% on a monthly basis. Eggs, a key indicator in the food category, surged by 8% during the same period.
Economist Robert Frick of Navy Federal Credit Union noted that while the pace of inflation has eased, the ongoing rise in prices is difficult for many. "Shelter costs continue to be the number one source for higher prices, and that the rate of increase has slowed is no comfort," he told CBS News. "Many food prices rose... adding to the harsh burden of high costs."

I've seen some explanations that the prices of new cars have gone up so much, and so have repair bills so every accident they have to cover is way more expensive than it used to be. Not in school zones. Fines are doubled in a lot of jurisdictions. They aren't going to let low hanging fruit like that go toward hitting their monthly target numbers.

71 OT: So, I got to walk out of my broken toe follow up today in a barefoot b/c I wasn't supposed to wear my Crocs (which I was), I couldn't have crutches (b/c they are being rationed - PA almost changed her mind even with rationing), and they had no proper broken toe shoes (apparently, they have the better kind than Urgent Care gave so you walk without ruining knees and hips on the other leg, but they were out). Kid you not - this is medical care in one of the richest counties in the US thanks to unpaid (illegal) care at the end of the year. Total rationing/underbuying of medical supplies.

If they had to reset my toe today, apparently I would have gotten lidocaine - so that was a cutback at Urgent Care - guess I know now.

I now have to order my own supplies at Amazon (the PA showed me) and go back tomorrow to a different site to actually get a shoe (b/c when the lady looked at Amazon, they were all the wrong size or the wrong type, so apparently, I get to have the spouse drive me to get it).

This is current medical care for something that could have long lasting issues (b/c apparently my dislocation is still not perfect perfect, but good enough). Eye-opening.

Starlink makes sense if it's the fastest available or if you lose internet and power regularly. I bought a mini because you can set it up damn near anywhere and my internet goes down if I lose power. You can turn on the service for a month and turn it back off again without a subscription or extra fees or anything.

Now if there's a power outage, I can fire up the generator, set up my mini, and I get internet. Or if I am going somewhere off grid and want the internet, I'm all set. Just bring my mini and I can get online just about anywhere on the planet.

Most stuff blamed on engineers is not really their fault. Most things are built with a MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) budget. Also an assembly time budget, and a cost budget, and a design time budget,... Yep I'm sure. There is no monthly data cap on the prepaid plans. I understand that customers on capped postpaid plans have had to threaten to quit, or actually quit, to get switched to Xfinity Now. If you can live with the speeds there's really no downside. They require you to use a modem that they supply, it's set up as a gateway with built in WiFi router but you can switch it to bridge mode to use with your own router

One 60mg gummy of Delta 8 is a great high for me. I sometimes only eat half a gummy and get a good high that doesn't last as long.

A few times I've taken 120mg and I get completely baked.

I never did marijuana but a couple of years ago I went to a local hempfest and drank a Delta 8 infused soda (about 10mg) and it was a pleasant experience so I started to try the various THC gummy products. For me Delta 8 is the absolute best of the THC products.

Russia can. When they improved their GPS jammers and their ability to burn out a lot of the low tech drones it reduced their difficulty with Ukraines drones quite a bit.

I know 3 people who got this government subsidized fiber and from that, I've figured out where it's being installed.
All three of their houses were exurbs with high growth rates, i.e. about to become suburbs.
The telcos are using government money to get territory "wired up" before the area gets too developed to qualify.
They aren't interested in areas with low population density which implies high maintenance costs coupled with low revenues.

Recently there was an incident where the pilot bailed out of a stealth plane and they had a hell of a time finding out where it went. Flew some distance along the east coast inland and crashed in the mountains.

There are all sorts of drone counter-measures. There are counter-drones that spray long pieces of ribbon or thin plastic string that gets caught in the rotors. There are electronic gun looking things that blast EMF radiation at them and overwhelms their electronics. There are drones that are built extra solidly that will literally ram the target drone out of the sky. Then of course there's the good old fashioned shotgun blast. The FAA also geo-fences sensitive areas like airports so commercial drones won't overfly them.

Don't count out desperation. They aren't strategic masterminds. I am suspicious when the finger pointing starts. Iran is the perfect boogeyman for a false flag op. As far as technology to jam/disable, supposedly , we have it and it has been employed by BP against cartel drones at the border. One of the complaints being made by several congressmen is that local LE needs access.
