Trump’s cabinet appointees all received bomb threats. Tim Burchett was just swatted with a bomb threat, and Marjorie Taylor Greene was swatted with a bomb threat that resulted in the death of innocent woman who got into a car accident with a police [vehicle]. I’m wondering what the nonpartisan FBI and DOJ is doing about this because we have not heard a word about any of it. Furthermore, we have not heard anything about the attempted assassination on Donald J Trump at Butler or at the golf course. Other than arresting grandmother’s for trespassing on January 6th, what is this “non-partisan” DOJ and FBI doing? Scott Adams @ScottAdamsSays 3h Republicans still being hunted. The Rome Police Department's Assistant Chief of Police received an email containing a bomb threat directed towards me. I’m so grateful to every member of the Rome Police Department for your swift and professional response in ensuring my safety. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene @RepMTG I’m heartsick right now. I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in an auto accident involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad who was responding to the threat at my home. My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department. These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act. The latest federal numbers show the U.S. deficit is soaring as President Joe Biden heads out of office. The U.S. Congressional Budget Office released its monthly budget review on Monday, which showed that in the first two months of this fiscal year, the federal government has run up a deficit of $622 billion. “That amount is $242 billion more than the deficit recorded during the same period last fiscal year,” CBO said in its report. That figure means the deficit is nearly 40% higher than this time last year.

The first issue is the broad logical, philosophical, and biological questions at the root of transgender ideology.
The second issue is the effectiveness of transgender medical care. The third issue is the ethics of transgender treatments, irrespective of the philosophical and scientific rationale for the treatments. To see more deeply into the question, consider body integrity dysphoria, which is a psychiatric condition related to gender dysphoria. In body integrity dysphoria, patients believe that a part of their body — a leg, an arm, an eye, etc. — does not genuinely belong to them, and many of these patients ask to have these limbs or organs surgically removed. It is widely accepted in the medical profession that it is unethical to amputate healthy legs or healthy arms or remove healthy eyes of these mentally ill people. A few years ago, I was sitting in the back of the courtroom with another attorney, waiting our turn and watching a sentencing in which the defense attorney was arguing against prison on the basis of his client's serious mental illness.
I turned and whispered to the other attorney, "This guy's about to be sent to the big mental hospital." Posted by: A Concerned Citizen ====== Did some work for the Sheriff's Association way back when and it was a problem even in the 90's and 00's. Ditto for elderly offenders. Extremely costly in many cases and neither really get their constitutionally mandated care in jails or prisons. Sheriffs also, in the state I did the work for, had to pay to transport and pickup prisoners sent to evaluation, treatment, etc. in their budget rather than that of the state. That provided an incentive for jailers to simply ignore the problems unless mandated by the courts in an individual case or via a lawsuit settlement. We already do. Jails and prisons are filled with mentally ill. Cost more to incarcerate them than to put them into care and actually more humane.
[ . . . ] Posted by: whig at December 11, 2024 12:25 PM (ctrM5) my step brother worked at "voc rehab" at the pen for a while, and he said pretty much the same thing. They closed the state mental hospital because it was abusive and cost too much and there was a promise of effective therapies. The state and feds promised that the mentally ill would be returned to their communities and monies would be provided for their care. It wasn't. They acted like mentally ill people and wound up in jail The jails were considered too crowded and abusive, and more so because so many felt the prisons should be abusive to the inmates. Courts said that minor crimes should not be a reason for incarceration and preventing mainstreaming of ex convicts. Money would be provided to the communities for their care and transitioning. It wasn't. The mentally ill are on the street and congregated in tent cities where they could find drugs, and the cops were told not to intervene, and they die in filth, untreated and paid benefits while offending winning Posted by: Kindltot at December 11, 2024 12:42 PM (D7oie) 223

Endorsed. I've seen a lot of youtube court hearings. I watch several no-nonsense judges regularly. I can't recall ever hearing a judge sentence a shitbag thief to pay restitution. It's only ever about fines and costs and jail time. The only times I can think of a judge ordering someone to pay a civilian, it's based on a contract like an apartment rental or a divorce agreement. It arrived there December 10. It went from the drop off post office to Detroit. Then three days later went to another sorting facility in Ann Arbor. Then went to the Ann Arbor post office. Then was delivered that afternoon. Distance between drop off and Ann Arbor post office? 12 miles. Distance from drop off to Detroit? 70 miles This envelope traveled around 125 miles and took a week to arrive to a 12 mile destination.

What always interests me is how the cost of crime is always structured as, "Do you have any idea how much it costs to house prisoners" while completely ignoring the cost of crime.

Posted by: Crusader ======= To some extent, people do not appreciate that staffers by and large run the offices and then graduate to big money on K street Lobbyist firms. These in turn, now write most of the legislation, which are then incorporated into bills. In essence, electing a legislator at DC is electing a team with the legislator as the front man but like an iceberg, their staff is what does the day to day drudge work so the Congress critter can do the PR and front the fundraising work to keep the team employed. Strom won his last race at something like 94 years old and his staff had been running the office for over a decade by that time. Legislators, particularly senators, are pretty much like CEOs of a firm rather than a true representative. Has to do with the complexity now of governance where literally no one really knows much other than their small portion of reality. That is one of the reasons that congress critters always seem so out of touch with reality. The DC bubble ensures that information is siloed to the extent that most of them, like the media, are ignoramuses. Posted by: whig at December 11, 2024 12:55 PM (ctrM5) 304

He said you could lock a guy up in a Motel Six with cable, McDonald's twice a day, pizza once, and it would be a tiny fraction of declared costs. He maintains (probably more since he retired) there was a lot of skim going on.

The Lord most often picks the least likely champions to advance his work--even at times what we would consider evil critters end up doing his will. It is well to consider politicians to be the same people you see at Wal Mart or a local bar----some good, some bad, some boorish, and some obnoxious. It has always been thus. Alexander Hamilton was a poon hound nicked named Tomcat, Gouvernor Morris was also a ladies man. All of the Founders, pretty much, like to drink---A LOT. Benjamin Franklin was a sly old dog that liked his bit of tail and had a common law marriage producing several bastard children along the way. Washington was a speculator in land, and so it goes. Our leaders are not marble statues, but flesh and blood, prone to sin. Posted by: whig at December 11, 2024 01:02 PM (ctrM5) 343

Been happening for a lot more than 10 years for the LGB movement. Going back to at least 2008 with the violence and bullying and intimidation the LGB groups and supporters were doing to Proposition 8 supporters and businesses and organizations back then. Goes back even further with the "climate change" movement and all their nonsense with blocking roadways and domestic terrorism. The left has always been about violence to get their way.
