124 Not completely clear on the details and dunno the actual possibilities here, but both the prosecution and the judge seem liable to and worthy of sanctions/punishment. Judge pulled a bizarre move on the jury instruction in apparent attempt to salvage the lynching by detaching verdict on first charge from consideration of second charge, as required by the instruction.

The Third World nature of many prosecutors in the US is the direct fault of voters, the erosion of standards and ethics in the judiciary is a horrendous situation to which the solution is not so easy.

If the DNA matches and the shooter did switch out the water bottle then you would be able to determine the guy they got was just the roommate.

Yup...he did have 2 male roommates...assuming they are still around and in country b/c I thought the hostel was used by international youth travelers mainly...

The "process is the punishment" applies here.

290 There's some movie from the early 60s, Martin Sheen's first movie, in which he and some other hood terrorize subway riders in a subway car.

Very disturbing flick.

JUST IN: Jordan Neely supporter says Neely was k*lled for simply asking for food after Daniel Penny was found not guilty.

Neely demanded that passengers give him ginger ale as he threatened to start k*lling people on the subway.

293 The interrogation video of Penny was eye-opening. I knew it was a good idea to have a lawyer if the cops "just want to talk to you," but I've never seen, in real-time, such a clear demonstration of why it is an absolute NECESSITY.

When I was a kid I saw two disturbing films on TV that gave me a nightmares: the final scene in "Joan of Arc" where they burn her (my young mind couldn't comprehend how human beings could do something like that to each other); and "Duel" with Dennis Weaver (I think it was Spielberg's first film).

296 Adams seems to be undergoing a general transformation. Talking trash about cooperating with new DHS re deportations.

Entirely, or partially, his stay-out-of-jail gambit, given the federal prosecution he's facing? Who knows. Perhaps who cares as long as he complies.

Faulkner is conservative to the core, and a very bright woman. Watch her on "The Faulkner Focus" and "Outnumbered" and you'll see she's not just a talking head.

299 You do Harris Faulkner a disservice. She’s a supporter of Penny, and hates Bragg. We’re so used to cheerleading from the media, we don’t recognize or appreciate straight reporting without reaction - she’s reading this bed the way REPORTERS should read it.

Characterizing her as unhappy to read this news borders on bearing false witness. You ought to walk that one back.

304 Alleluia! So relieved for him. I have a son about his age living in Brooklyn who commutes into Manhattan via subway. He's about the same build as Penny and even has the corkscrew curly hair. All I could see every time I looked at Penny's face was my son's face. I was happy to donate to Penny's defense fund and will donate to any other fund if Neely's father actually pursues a claim against him.
