Trump Goes to Paris Trump, Jill Biden attend Notre Dame reopening in France with world leaders President-elect Trump attended the reopening ceremony of the Notre Dame Cathedral alongside First Lady Jill Biden and several other prominent world leaders. Notre Dame was reopened on Saturday, five years after a fire caused serious damage to the landmark Gothic cathedral. Trump was seated between French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, during the ceremony, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prince William. Also in the same row as Trump was First Lady Jill Biden, who attended the event with her daughter, Ashley. President Joe Biden was not present. Viral images from the event include Trump’s handshake with Macron and “Doctor” Jill Biden looking at Trump in a way that she probably never looked at President Sundowner. The internet is always quick with quality memes! To paraphrase an old saying, anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. Here’s 2 examples of great dads doing awesome dad stuff.

I think about him a lot, but, alas, I hardly got to know him. He's been gone over half a century. I'm now 22 years older than he ever got to be. If you do the math and come up with 29, you're doing it right. Posted by: mindful webworker - dad of the day at December 08, 2024 10:12 PM (ofDJ7) 28

I love that Dad teaching the kids to form a phalanx. It will come in handy during many of the trials of adulthood.
My Dad's greatest hits; When I moved out of the house - He turned to me and said - "Here's $100. I wish it was more, but it's not." I only ever saw him cry twice - once at my 20 yr old niece's funeral and again at my boys funeral Mass. I worked with him one summer at a quarry. We had to frack a water well with one (and only one) stick of dynamite thrown into the bottom. I screwed up and dumped about half a box of those suckers into the well. When we made it go BOOM, about 100' of well casing shot up into the sky and then came down and stuck into the earth like a straw. He gave me "The Look" and then said "We'd best not tell your Mother about this." I miss my Dad. With that and the allied militias they blocked an attempt by Iran to send some of its Iraqi proxy militia forces north to support Assad the Chinless as his army was disintegrating. Almost certainly didn't matter in the end, but was one more defeat for Tehran in a year that has seen almost their entire axis, fruit of decades of work and $Bs, dissolve like an Alka-Seltzer being washed by a raccoon in a mountain stream.

It's been the official Biden Admin Policy to get rid of Assad... we have US troops INSIDE SYRIA and have had for 4 years... and I would wager we armed the Islamists who just took him down. Note, they pulled the trigger on this CIA op just before Biden was out of office... yeah, question the timing. We have just overthrown another Countries government, and gave it to Islamists who are allies with Iran... without any formal declaration of war... even though we used US combat troops inside that country. 161 Is Iran fixing to be under new management soon?
Posted by: ALH, Sister Golden Hair at December 08, 2024 11:16 PM (+HzbQ) I think the odds are good; Iran’s 30 year plan of encirclement of Israel just collapsed spectacularly; not only have they lost any influence in Syria, they’ve probably lost Lebanon for good as well. They’ve displayed fear and cowardice at the prospect of fighting a real war with Israel; and showing that much weakness is often the kiss of death for an unpopular dictatorial regime. Posted by: Tom Servo at December 08, 2024 11:58 PM (W6hoT) 206
The people who claim to know what they're talking about say Assad's overthrow is bad for Iran. Hezbollah, which is Iran's arm of control and influence, has had to bug out. I don't know about any of this stuff. But these rebels are not our friends. It may be better all around for us and Israel, but we don't need to be messing around in Syria. These same people I was reading say the reason Assad lost his grip was Israel's weakening of Hezbollah, and this was a big miscalculation by Iran re the Oct 7 attack. Assad needed Hezbollah, acting under Iran's orders, to stay in power agin' his own Sunni rebels or something. Trump wins, and Iran knows he's not gonna hold Israel back, and they realize they better bug out, and Hezbollah too. Posted by: Sebastian Melmoth. at December 08, 2024 11:54 PM (tK3Zm) I’m certain they think that in private as well as public. Look at what has happened; Iran has been running a decades long plan of encirclement aimed at the destruction of Israel. First they took over the militias in Iraq; then they made an ally in Syria; then the set up Hezbollah to take over Lebanon and threaten Israel from the north; lastly they armed Hamas to the teeth and allowed Sinwar to kick off the war they hoped would destroy Israel. All of those plans are in ruin now, impossible to repair, and for Israel it’s almost as great and unexpected a victory as that of Esther and Mordechai over Haman. (Which also was about Persia). It’s one the greatest long term victories the Jewish State has ever seen! Of course there may be difficulties with the new Syrian government, but they are just a collection of militias now, not an organized army. They’ll Be no threat to the IDF, especially since Israel is already nailing down the Syria border. Posted by: Tom Servo at December 09, 2024 12:10 AM (W6hoT) 213

--- My personal experiences with the healthcare system and doctors over the last 5-10 years has been discouraging. I can't figure out whether the docs listen but don't hear, or they hear but don't listen. There always seems to be a desire to conjure up a treatment, as opposed to focusing on a diagnosis. Amy Mek
@AmyMek After toppling the brutal regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on December 8, 2024, Syrian opposition-aligned fighter groups declared their next objectives: the "liberation of Jerusalem" and the destruction of the State of Israel. They further announced plans to overthrow the House of Saud, explicitly stating their intention to seize the Kaaba in Mecca—a mission that aligns entirely with the long-declared goals of the Islamic State. Candace Owens
@RealCandaceO Respect JD Vance for calling this out. Christians will be slaughtered because that is always what happens. There is an intentional genocide occurring if Christians in the Middle East and Israel and America are funding it. Any person who does not have the courage to call this out is a fraud and a traitor. Too many patients, is my one appraisal, but my current crop of docs just do not have the bedside manner that my now-retired doc of 20 years had.
Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at December 09, 2024 12:52 We have indeed lost the doc of the recent past. Jules just now passed 1 month of hospitalization. I will preface this rant with thanks to those in the ER that saved her life on 11/8 when she went code blue while waiting for a room in the ER. Since then she has been seen by countless doctors, transferred to a bigger system for "better care". The doc in charge is the "hospitalist" and he is in charge of coordinating the treatment by five specialists. They include a surgeon, nephrologist, infectious disease doc, gastro doc and the respiratory/pulminary doc. Yet the coordinator of all this care simply changes every few days. This is insane. Yesterday the doc wanting consent to put in a feeding tube simply could not tell me if they had done the procedure yet to remove the dialysis port. This is crazy, how can they claim this is "great modern medicine"? Posted by: Farmer, with his own historical take at December 09, 2024 04:41 AM (55Qr6) 288
