re: that healthcare CEO hit in NYC - no, the dude was almost certainly not using B&T's modern repro of the Wellrod. They only imported 400ish of those or some similarly small number.
He most likely used a home made simple can (wish.com special?) with no booster, preventing it from cycling. Less likely would be a commercially available Beretta 92 or G19 with a locking slide for suppressor use, even more rare than the B&T setup, and usually much more difficult to acquire. I do like how the guy that tweeted the B&T seemed impressed with the $2k price tag though, which is silly. Anything under 5 figures isn't really significant if you're actually going to whack someone professionally. Posted by: heya at December 04, 2024 07:45 PM (R06Wo) 9

Sorry to dump this willowed rage on you:
I just listened to that Scott Jennings CNN clip, where the rest of the panel is upset that POTUS has the power to force a state governor to do something. Including a panel of two black talking heads. EISENHOWER USED THIS POWER TO FORCE THE RACIST LOUISIANA GOVERNOR TO ALLOW RUBY BRIDGES TO GO TO A DESEGREGATED SCHOOL. He sent US marshals to protect her. Dems are suddenly the champion of state's rights when it suits them, presidential might when it suits them. Forgetting their own history. It's maddening. Ok, rant off. *scurries off to look at the cute fluffy babies and lovely horses* Posted by: LizLem at December 04, 2024 07:47 PM (Eng1Z) 13

I was telling my wife that governments are like bears. They are only dangerous when they want something, feel threatened by you, or are having a bad day and need a victim. Otherwise you don't need to worry about them.

A more likely plausible answer. CNN doesn’t want the viewers to know a President has this authority. They can’t get around it now, however. What to do? They will leave “Inconvenient” facts out in furtherance of The Narrative. Every time. In fact it is required, naturally. Barely an Inconvenience. But the overall opinions and added comments of the rest of the Horde are so interesting, and the side topics and random squirrel tangents are so engaging, that I try to read all the comments anyway. I prefer cats because they leave me alone. No jumping, tail-wagging, crotch sniffing barking nonsense. Dogs like me a lot - every dog, all the time. They are just up on me, drooling, so happy to see me. I'm not happy to see them.
Cats have much more variation in personality, and having cats has helped me read human much better. Cats have many facial expressions, and you have to watch their ears, tail, body and figure out what is going on. Dogs are honest; cats are deceitful. All cats are liars, but the best are really good at it. This is also training for life. If you think people are like dogs, you will get burned again and again. Once you understand cats, you become more discerning, shrewd, take nothing for granted. The same cat purring on you contentedly is about to go downstairs and piss on the rug because reasons. I'm actually fine with no pets, but that isn't an option, so we have cats. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at December 04, 2024 08:07 PM (ZOv7s) 68

When Wilbur takes Mr Ed to the Dodgers practice to ‘try out’ for the team Mr Ed picks up a bat and the amused Dodger pitches to him. Mr Ed proceeds to hit the ball and starts inning the bases. As he rounds third the camera switches just to a wide shot of home plate and then you see Mr Ed slide across the TV screen into home plate. Laughing just thinking about it. It might! I do also agree the wife theory has merit. I don't know if people remember this story, but there was a man that was having an affair with a female congress critter (maybe Ilhan?), and his wife was refusing to divorce him. A woman with her red hair, and her height and build, was mysteriously shot outside her building. My fave theory is that he hired a hit man to take her out, but he accidentally shot the wrong redhead. They did eventually divorce. I would too, if I thought my ex tried to have me killed! Posted by: LizLem at December 04, 2024 08:15 PM (Eng1Z) 93

Posted by: Accomack at December 04, 2024 08:20 PM (KX5Cb) --- Our elder cat is very territorial. She's sweet and quiet, but hates disruption. It really gets to here. So when a new cat was introduced, she didn't like it. She got used to it, but there was a lot of marking. We had this with a previous cat when our youngest came home from the hospital. Sprayed all her stuff. She was adopted out. We'd reached an equilibrium, but my daughter moving in and out of the house has really gotten to the elder cat. Took her to the vet, and yeah, she's pissed. She had a nice quiet house and my kid kept screwing it up. This is targeted marking. She's making a point. Very sweet, but also bitchy if pushed. Her fate is still under discussion. She seems to be backing off, but relapses. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at December 04, 2024 08:26 PM (ZOv7s) 128

On Joyles Reid's segment, Troye said, "Kash Patel is a delusional liar. And he would lie about intelligence. He would lie about making things up on operations. I think Mark Esper has talked about that as well. Where he put the lives of Navy SEALs at risk in an operation when it came to Nigeria." In their letter, Patel's lawyers said, "Litigation will be filed against you if you fail to publicly retract defamatory statements you made about Mr. Patel on MSNBC on December 2, 2024... Women can’t study to become doctors or midwives, male doctors are forbidden from treating them, and basic healthcare is already denied. This isn’t governance; it’s a deliberate dismantling of half the population’s humanity and rights. No organisation claiming to be patriotic would sabotage its nation like this. Meanwhile in response Hezb and "Lebanon" jibber and fulminate in the usual manner, as the "government" of the US and the frogs jawbone to no effect. Beautiful, really. And just six weeks to put up with the US part.
Israel also hit a senior liaison Hezb type in Syria. The ceasefire doesn't cover Syria. Perhaps some bwahaha is appropriate here. Posted by: rhomboid at December 04, 2024 08:58 PM (1m82a) 187
Russkis reportedly fired missiles at rebels in Syria from ships docked at Tartus, their naval base in Syria. That's spicy. Rebels are in Latakia, province with main Russian base. Was expecting them to steer clear of the russkis to the extent they could, for multiple reasons. But Russians are participating in air strikes on multiple rebel-held areas, and now this.

So, dog owners favored Trump, and cat owners favored Harris?
I have a dog and a cat, and I've owned other pets like koi fish and turtles and lizards and tarantulas. I've also had livestock animals like goats and rabbits. I've shot different varmints like prairie dogs and gophers and coyotes. I like zoos, and I've visited them in different countries. IOW, I've known and encountered many animals. But I don't figure I've met one dumb enough to vote for that broad, even if he could. If we allowed pets to vote, Trump would have won just based on the Springfield thing. My Beelink mini-PC has arrived. Easy set up and so far, running fine. The only blip was instead of Linux Ubuntu already installed; it had Win11 installed instead. Easy enough fix but I'll try Microsoft's new shiny abortion of an operating system for a bit. If I get annoyed enough, I'll change it to Linux Ubuntu. I have that on a flash drive. I'm trying to figure out how to get into the boot options on a Beelink. It isn't 'ESC'. I tried that. On Dell and HP, it was 'ESC'. Different with Beelink apparently. Both cats and dogs especially are said to have supernatural vision according to many beliefs around the world. This goes back to prehistoric oral stories even.
Not quite worship of pets, but a man was judged on his suitability for the afterlife by the gods on how he treated his dog. This ancient story even made it into a Twilight Zone episode! Cats are great, I like ‘em too. Posted by: Common Tater at December 04, 2024 09:32 PM (Touuh) 208
