A Case of the Mondays Cafe

eaglesinalaska.jpg
Eagles in Alaska
by Steve Slade

Montana showing off the monts.

This must be Florida Man in his native terrain.

Working in the ocean at 3 am.

An iceberg wakes up from hibernation.

Rebellious calf scoffs at your "rules."

Sometimes you need to clean your vehicle of lions.

Steve Inman:

I can relate. Vespas are hard to drive too!

Thugs need to stop standing in the middle of the road.

A thug imposes his will on a guy minding his own business, then gets his teeth kicked out of his head.

A out-of-town New York thug starts a fight, then finds out that Alvin Bragg isn't around to protect him.

Suspected Gentle Giant gets rekt.

The Battling Bickersons decide to take their marital strife out into the public and find out no one wants to see that trash.

Just another day in DEI-occupied America.

They came at him 2-on-1. They should have brought reinforcements.

Whoops!

Whoopsie!

20 I like that wombat. Just spent a few minutes looking them up.
They're rolypoly because they have long intestines to wring all possible nutrients from food. Helpful in, oh, Australia.
Apparently they're smart too, on a scale which includes the koala admittedly.

21 Lately, I've been scribbling furiously to my Senators imploring them to support PDJT's nominees. This is a response to one of those mails:

"On November 5, 2024, the American people sent a resounding message to Washington by re-electing President Donald J. Trump in historic fashion. As a result, President Trump has a strong popular mandate to select the members of his Cabinet that he determines will best assist him in fulfilling his agenda. My belief is that President Trump’s leadership and policies are essential to getting our nation back on track and improving Americans’ prosperity and security, and I look forward to doing everything in my power to support this effort in the Senate. For all of these reasons, the Senate should expeditiously consider and confirm President Trump’s nominees so that President Trump can quickly implement the agenda the American people elected him to deliver."

I hope he means it. . .

There's a little Chumash indian museum nearby my home in CA. One day I was there the Indian resident had told the desk lady that a lion had killed a dear down by he small creek that day.

I've hiked quite a bit on that little mini mountain range, trail goes straight up and along the very ridge peak.

44 So, I watched Ana Kasparian for the first time since '16 (on the Piers Morgan show, whatever it's called).

It's rare to see a young woman get prettier into middle age. I'm not saying that *I think* she's gotten prettier, because she's moderated her extreme Leftism, and isn't so politically offensive to me anymore.

She's gotten prettier, period. Her figure is better, her skin is smoother, her features are softer - the works. And none of this appears to be surgical. It's certainly not Ozempic. She's gotten bigger (which is an improvement).

I think it's the effect of giving up a lot of hatred for everyday people. It's fine to hate perpetrators like the government, media, etc. That's actually a good thing. But not regular everyday people you have to interact with all the time.

It's why I don't hate most Dem voters. Most of them are normies I just disagree with, outside the megalopolises like the one I recently fled. The Democrats here are much more moderate, and look better. Not crazed and angry and (frequently) drugged. That bitterness shows on the outside.

One early morning my cats and I watched a hawk with a bunny outside the glass sliding door picking at it, it was very large. Cats were impressed. The smaller of the two girls (both declawed) used to run down rabbits herself there sometimes. She used no stalking just charge at them like a mini cheetah and if they didn't catch sight of her at once it was all over for them.

Got confused because that machines class was a long time ago, and I thought if people said generator, they meant generator, not alternator.....so, anyway, have to tune the frequency of the alternator(old-style generator) by adjusting the speed so that it generates a nice 60 Hz signal that my inverter can synch with.

>>> I have yet to see how making the wicked witch popular is a good idea. L. Frank Baum would roll in his grave. But this is from the same people who like cutting dicks off young dudes in the name of equity or some damned thing, so guess to them evil is good...

tcn in AK, the beauty of things in the public domain is that once it's free, it becomes property of humanity. People get to put their spin on it, and the world is better for it. Frankenstein, fairy tales, the Time Machine, the Iliad and the Odyssey, Austen stories, Shakespeare...Even fractured fairy tales like Wizard of Oz, with the wicked witch as the villain. There is pleasure in a good tale retold well. Even and antihero story.

The problem is that society is broken, so they see all villains and antiheroes as solely good. This is not a good lesson for humanity. I do hope this period eventually ends, and regular good/evil becomes in vogue again.

Small engines run well enough on ethanol-adulterated gas. What they don't handle well is being stored with that shit in the carburetor. My snowblower, I turn off the fuel valve, and let the engine run until the carb goes dry and it quits. No problems.

the #1 reason your gas-powered yard equipment runs poorly is from using shitty gas from the gas station

That shit contains Ethanol. Bad enough for our cars, but 100X worse for small engines that sit for months at a time.

Use Trufuel.

2 out of 3 small engines in the garage seem to be immune. POS blower has been wonky since purchase.

Used to use TruFuel. Expensive, but for the amount I needed, didn't break the bank. When we moved, I found a nearby gas station that sells ethanol-free fuel. Much less expensive.

Boy, weather can be something. Local temp behavior here is blowing my mind. Sun went down, temp crashed. It was below 32F at 7PM, then dipped down to 30.

At about 8:30, something happened and a little breeze picked up a bit, around 1.1 mph gust, sustained maybe 0.5 to 0.7 mph.

That stirred it up, and the temp rose up to 38 now. 8 degree warm swing over 45 minutes. At it happened over a wide area, maybe 2-3 mile radius.

Except Woodward was CIA and was placed in his job and then fed the information, and Nixon did nothing out of the ordinary and wasn't even much of a rabid conservative.. he just happened to be the Republican targeted to smear the right in the public mind. The biggest difference between then and now is that the public hadn't been degraded to the point where the pols didn't have to pretend to be moral in public. 334 New cars help me save money cause they don't make ANYTHING I want at all any more.

There is a whole new industry of people rescuing and rebuilding old cars right now. Nobody is going to be doing that with anything built since around 1995.

338 He wanted the turkey as our national bird.

The eastern wild turkey cited and described by Franklin was related to the ruffed grouse, and has been extinct awhile. Wild turkeys you may encounter in the eastern US are a re-introduced strain, usually from Missouri. The old breed were noted for their fast break from cover and wily habit, totally unlike the domesticated turkey we make fun of.

You'd better be getting up pretty early in the morning if you decide to eff around and find out with Ben Franklin.

339 Even at $100,000 per car, no way Jaguar is going to make money at that price point from a "clean sheet" design that also requires a completely new engine and completely new drive train.

There are only two possible exceptions: 1.) Sell a huge number of cars to offset the massive development and tooling costs, or 2.) Get a ton of money from the government to force OTHER people to eat your losses.

Who predicts that 2.) is the plan, and Jaguar government lobbyists are already hard at work?

340 Even taking into account that the majority of the collector car hobby has always revolved around guys in their 50s being able to finally afford the cars they couldn't afford in their teens, it may be impossible to restore cars built of plastic that run on computer modules that haven't been made for decades
