  • When you read about million dollar bananas, expect money laundering, not conceptual art. Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun eats $9.5 million banana artwork Comedian by Maurizio Cattelan. (ABC / MSN)
A cryptocurrency entrepreneur has eaten a $US6.2 million ($9.5 million) banana artwork he purchased.
This is the Australian ABC, so it's really only a $6 million dollar banana, not a $9 million dollar banana.
The debut of the edible creation at the 2019 Art Basel show in Miami Beach sparked controversy and raised questions about whether it should be considered art - Mr Cattelan's stated aim.
And no, the banana wasn't five years old. The banana wasn't part of the "art". There was merely the concept of a banana:
The artwork owner is given a certificate of authenticity that the work was created by Mr Cattelan as well as instructions about how to replace the fruit when it goes bad.
This is banana. Is taped to wall. Replace when become drippy.
The 34-year-old crypto businessman was last year charged by the US Securities and Exchange Commission with fraud and securities law violation in relation to his crypto project Tron.
    Yeah, no shit.

38 >Hope DJT bent that lil bastard over his knee and spanked him like he deserved.

The Canadian government is badly screwed. The NDP needs to prop up the Liberals for another 8 months so the MPs lifelong pensions kick in. But the coalition government has savaged the economy so badly that the 25% tariffs will cause a catastrophic collapse. And the government can't do what Trump demands because they're completely beholden to the CCCP and the ethnic blocs that are smuggling the drugs and the terrorists across the border. We're in for a long 11 months. Canada may not survive that long.

Oh, and Poilevre isn't going to make any difference. The federal Conservatives are our equivalent of RINOs. Nothing will change even after they get a majority.

48 Vintage digicams aren't just a fad they're an artistic statement.

This reminds me of when the Seattle communists suddenly rediscovered vinyl and became experts in disproving the Nyquist theorem and that vinyl was always secretly superior to CDs.

What they will discover is they have no idea how to be a photographer and that AI has been propping up their sorry asses.

One of my favorite cameras was a Canon 40D that packed a whopping 10 megapixels. One had to visualize imagery quite differently both when shooting and post-processing. The results when done properly yielded a certain edge definition in the images that made them hint at illustrations and when printed onto matte rag paper the results could be stunning.

The rest of the time you were cleaning up artifacts in post-processing and moaning you didn't push the histogram far enough to the right and they're all your shadows are plugged. I can't wait to find out why this is a virtue.

Meanwhile, here in the future I'm salivating over having a 100 megapixel camera at some point, even if that means some of my lenses might not be up to a sensor with that much resolution.

69 Analog devices, in this case, meaning vinyl records and film cameras, were and are stunning technological achievements for their time and they still especially if you caught them in their peak form such as direct to disc vinyl recordings and medium to large format film cameras.

Digital devices, meaning in this case, digital music and digital photography achieved a certain maturity about a decade ago and could rival if not exceed their peak analog counterparts. And we still haven't begun to discuss the convenience of digital and being able to run a recording studio in your living room and a photo lab using your desktop PC.

This push to return to earlier digital devices is not wholly unexpected especially when dealing with smartphone cameras. One of the issues I have with modern smartphone cameras is everything is an HDR photograph. This approach to image processing does yield impressive dynamic range at the expense of not looking like any natural world I've ever lived in. This is not an issue in earlier digital cameras since HDR in some cases didn't exist and was still trying to emulate at a minimum 35 mm film cameras and all its glorious imperfections.

78 Are chemical film cameras even made anymore?

Yes. The most common format anymore is medium format film cameras which produce imagery that rivals older 8x10 in view cameras. Typically, the processing sequence is to have the film developed in a lab and then the negative Is processed in a high resolution scanner using wet scan techniques. From there they're processed like any other digital image. This is all quite amusing to me. As the megapixel count on digital cameras has gone up as the price goes down there is soon coming a time when film will probably only be used by enthusiasts wishing to keep old technology alive. I also predict most interestingly that film imagery prints produced by the masters of that time are going to skyrocket in price to levels never thought possible 25 years ago precisely because they can no longer be created. Film photography is dope but it's time is ending.

81 Tomorrow is Miss Linda's birthday. She wanted a hair trim at Supercuts (she has a favorite shearing person there), to get some makeup at Macy's, and maybe a chance to look through clothes at -- get this -- the Red, White, and Blue Thrift Store. Thus my morning today and, I fear, part of the afternoon.

Prob. we will go out for a modest dinner tonight. Modest nowadays meaning I have to pawn a watch (well, almost). Luckily I just got paid.

I'll pick up a card for her and one "from the cats" at Walmart this morning, before we start on these errands.

90 I've previously mentioned a few times, that I have a grand-nephew suffering from transgenderism. He's always been a bit of a strange kid (he's in his 20s, now) and his mom used to be a psycho b!tch from Hell until she get her mental issues treated. His mom used to be abusive to him, but not to his 2 younger sisters because she got her mental illness treated. So, I've always suspected that my grand-nephew latched onto transgenderism as a way to go from "Zero to Hero" with him mom -- and it worked because she went all-in in affirming his delusion.

Well, I've been praying Rosaries from him, and I've had Carmelite monks, Dominican Sisters, and Marianist fathers praying from my grand-nephew, also. This Thanksgiving, my grand-nephew appeared wearing men's clothing and not wearing a dress. He also seemed happier.

All of the prayers seem to be having a good effect for him. May he continue in his journey back to reality.

Back when I was a Crime Scene Technician, I experienced the switch from film cameras to reasonably inexpensive digital cameras. What we found was that more photographs were taken with the digital cameras because there was no longer the concern about the cost of developing the film. Unless it was a violent crime, such as homicide or rape, the rule-of-thumb was 1 roll of film for a crime scene.

I don't know for certain, but I don't think my grand-nephew has had the genital mutilation surgery. I think he was just taking cross-sex hormones. I suspect he has stopped that, too, because his voice seemed a bit deeper than the last time I saw him.

For my grand-nephew, transgenderism is a mental illness. He follows the classic conditions for transgenderism: latent homosexual feelings, physical abuse, and dysfunctional family life.

All the prayers for him seem to be having an efficacious result for him. He does have a long journey to full recovery, but at least he's not one of the predators that has latched onto it as a way to get into women's private spaces.

112 For years Apple has been the first customer on every new process node TSMC has made available, guaranteeing full order books as soon as the new technology comes online. - Pixy

Apple is like the second or third largest company in the world, behind Nvidia and perhaps Microsoft.

They design their own chips and sell them unthreaded devices by the billions.

So I wonder why they don’t build their own fabs or buy one for themselves?

Too much investment and hassle to build out a fab?

They’re not AMD so they wouldn’t have to design and manufacture 10 or 20 different SKUs of x86 chips & GPUs like AMD did before they were forced to sell off what became Global Foundries.

Maybe Apple should buy Intel, or at least one of their fabs.

Makes sense to me. If you just need to follow a course of ### degrees for a few hours, all the helmsman needs to to do is monitor progress.

Now, is the autopilot doesn't switch-off when a crew member makes a manually input, that's a system design flaw.

Several reasons. During full power or energy efficiency trials, autopilot leads to better results.

If most of the crew is incapacitated by eating the bad western omelets the night before, you may need some help.

FWIW, in the 80's I used the ship's autopilot on a Spruance class destroyer for more accurate navigation. But the helmsman liked to steer the ship, so I stopped that.

125 And while we’re on the subject, I don’t know why Jensen at Nvidia hasn’t built or bought a fab.

Is TSMC that good or is it just really expensive and difficult to get a cutting edge node fab working correctly?

Intel’s difficulties in getting their 18a node fab going indicates it’s damn near a miracle to get a decent fab up and running.

"Experts" also tell us that grocery prices have only increased 25% (or some such bull$h!t number), when they've actually increased by 80% - 100%.

My understanding is that the foreign leaders are either making the trek to Mauro Largo or initiating a phone call to the Donald Trump. He is President-Elect.
