Who designs a doorway that isn't big enough for the appliances? It's not like these are massive, they're just... a washer and dryer. I watched The Long Goodbye, an Elliott Gould movie from the '70s. I pretty much liked this noir although it's more atmosphere than anything else. One thing I did like that I'd never seen before was the use of the theme song. It's heard throughout the movie but usually only excerpts and as a part of the plot. For example, in one scene, a lounge pianist attempts to learn the song as Philip Marlowe, Elliott Gould, drinks and converses with the bartender. In another scene, an amateur marching band plays it while leading a funeral procession. It’s playing on the car radio as Marlowe drives etc. The lyrics reveal that the long goodbye is the missed opportunity you didn't take, particularly romantic, although it's defined more darkly in the plot. Also, Sterling Hayden is great as a faded author who is drunk and crazy.

The very definition of a first world problem: my toilet kept running. The float was broken, and I needed to replace the whole fill valve. Drain the toilet, unscrew the water valve and a bunch of other stuff, install the new part, and put everything back together. Our latest FWPs were a continuously-bleeping battery backup and a long-time reliable coffee maker that started shutting off 'way too soon. The solution to both was obvious: order new ones. My take on Epstein was that he was working for British intelligence - with 5 eyes that gave the US government access as well of course - but with the Brits running the show.
Note that most of the known Epstein clients like Clinton, Richardson, and Mitchell all were notable for following Britain's lead on foreign policy... Posted by: 18-1 at December 01, 2024 03:43 PM (oZhjI) Speculation time: Epstein had more than one boss, more than one agency in more than one country for whom he worked. He was an asset, and could be counted on to give valuable information to whichever one was paying him at that time. These governments are mostly allies. Mostly. But not always, and the reason he was "caught," and the reason he was killed (faked death or not) is because of disagreements between the different nations. Americans were bad enough, but the Brits weren't just incompetent, when it was discovered they had commies working for them, they tried to cover it up, and keep the commies where they were, to avoid embarrassment, or whatever. I don't think there is much separation between our intel community and spy shops around the world. Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine's father, worked for the Brits and possibly the Israelis. The work together and spy on each other. Posted by: JackStraw at December 01, 2024 03:52 PM (LkLld) 264

"Pee in the bed. They won't wait as long next time when you tell them you have to go. "
Jim, this is bad advice. You'll end up with a long tube run up your willy, with a bag hanging on the side of the bed. You don't want to know what they may do if you shit the bed. Saw them try to work that magic when my Dad was bedridden. Just plan ahead. And get better soon, sir.
