Good morning kids. So, among some pretty big stories in the links is that the execrable hack Stalinist show trial prosecutor Jack Smith has folded up his tent and ended the groundless, baseless case against Donald Trump. The estimable Daniel Greenfield describes it perfectly:
The abandonment of the Trump cases simply signals that the ‘resistance’ is moving from the former to the latter. Jack Smith, like Mueller, was only the latest in a succession of propped up figures who played the inquisitioner role for an audience of MSNBC viewers and Washington Post readers. Everyone else with common sense knew how this would play out. And that’s why they cared very little. Smith dropped the nonsensical election subversion case now that the election has been won. There will be other cases and other front men, but they will be aimed at the incoming administration and figures around it. The investigations of Trump’s conduct in Term 2 will be generated on schedule, but their aim will be to create chaos and inhibit the administration. What was election interference will move on to interference with a duly elected administration by special prosecutors, state prosecutors and a crew of activist lawyers employed by major organizations. One wave of lawfare is dead. The next is being developed now.Hence the trumped up accusations against such individuals as Matt Gaetz and Pete Hegseth, in the wings Tulsi Gabbard (who will be viciously raked over the coals for her apostasy of abandoning the caliphate of Leftism.) And get set for the fireworks over Kash Patel to a major post at the FBI if not the DOJ!!!!
If you thought that President-elect Trump had used up all of his "controversial" nominations, buckle up, because he is reportedly planning to appoint Kash Patel, the former chief investigator of the Trump-Russia investigation for the House Intelligence Committee under former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), to a prominent position within either the FBI or the Justice Department, according to top transition sources cited by Axios.. . Patel published a book in 2023 that Trump hailed as a “blueprint” for rooting out corrupt figures in government, and has been vocal about ending the weaponization of government. In his book, he wrote, “The FBI has become so thoroughly compromised that it will remain a threat to the people unless drastic measures are taken,” though Axios called that "retaliation against Trump's political enemies," because, of course they would.
This is the moral equivalent of putting Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy (PBUH) to head up the KGB! Meh, John Brennan somehow got the top slot at the CIA? That one still gives me nightmares as to how it was even possible he was hired to work there in the first place. But I digress. There will also be massive acts of abject insubordination if not treasonous sabotage within the upper echelons if not rank and file of the DC bureaucracies, from the lowliest toilet attendant at the Dept. of the Redundancy Department all the way up to the director. It certainly will be interesting if Trump's efforts with this newfangled DOGE will yield actual results in dismantling at least some bits and pieces of the Deep State that have disfigured the Republic as founded into a Rachel Levine Frankenstein's monster of a catamite sex slave. Frankly, given the nature of power and those who wield it, who have worked tirelessly for decades upon decades in stealing it from successive generations of unaware and/or duped Americans, I pray we can at least take a few steps back from the long march through the institutions, away from the mass grave the Theodor Adornos and Rudy Dutschkes of this world have brought us to the brink of. Certainly the election of Ronald Reagan and of course 40 years on the election, re-election and RE-re-election of Donald Trump must indicate something positive in the psyche of the citizenry? WEll, Ace-cruelty Fanboi, the brilliant author and historian Victor Davis Hanson thinks we might be on the cusp of a sea-change in the political/cultural landscape:

A straphanger was slugged in the face by an irate seatmate on a Manhattan-bound subway — but he managed to wrestle the “little b–ch” to the ground until cops could intervene.
Alexander Rakitin, 42, was riding the N Train to his Manhattan finance job Monday morning when he sat down next to 34-year-old Timothy Barbee.
As the train took off, the car jolted causing Rakitin’s knee to jostle Barbee’s — which set the alleged assailant off.
“Apparently my knee touched his knee. That triggered him,” Rakitin told The Post. “He was just very aggressive. I’m like, saying, ‘Dude, just chill, it’s like 8:30 in the morning. Like, who needs this s–t. Just chill.'” Then he smacked Rakitin across the face — sending his glasses flying — before the camera cut out.
“I was able to wrestle him to the ground after that, and just kind of hold him,” Rakitin said. “And the craziest part was that — and this is literally upsetting, like I’m actually emotional about it — people on the train were trying to help him. Like, that was the most insane thing.
“It was also remarkable — he went from acting like such a thug. And then he turned into a little b–ch right away. He’s like, ‘I can’t breathe. Please, let me go. Please, let me go. I can’t breathe. Somebody give me some water. I can’t breathe.’ And people started giving him water. That was so insane.” . . . “To be honest, like everybody sees the way the city is — it’s not like it’s changing. I already saw that the city is like this, that you’re in a constant danger of aggression or violent crime,” he said. “It’s not like it’s changing. It’s just kind of reaffirming that that’s the way the city is.”
Again, it wasn't always like that. Yes it was bad. But there were eras of sanity even during Ed Koch's time and certainly Rudy Giuliani's when it was about as amazing a place to live and work as you could imagine, the nightmare of 9/11/01 and its aftermath notwithstanding. I have to wonder if the individuals in this incident even understood the implications of what was happening to their fellow citizen Daniel Penny and how there but for the grace of GOd what happened to him and what they were enduring on that N Train was almost exactly the same damned thing. And that their lamentations about the Big Apple, assuming they are and vote Democrat election after election put them in that position. Are scales falling from eyes? Well, say what you will about this incident, here's an item that indicates perhaps more than a bit of positive news in this regard:

The Amish can do a project like 100 cabins in a week. They had a barn raising down the road from my Uncle's place in Ohio. 24 hours later there was a barn standing. Fortunately, there's another grocer nearby which has to be a money laundering business for the Mexican cartels since I never see customers in there and they had some. My daughter will still speak to me.

I lived just outside of Memphis in the early 90's. Beale St. was cool. So was the Rendezvous for ribs. Never went to Graceland. Downtown was pretty much a ghetto back then anyway. It's spread to the surrounding 'burbs now.

Since those workers are already unionized, then it is safe to presume they were working under a previously negotiated labor contract - with agreed upon wages. They shouldn't be punishing travelers, the airport or airlines. They should be pissed at their union and also themselves for voting/ratifying the contract they are working under.

You can definitely load web pages, there will probably be websites that will balk, like banking and trading websites, but you can definately load wordpress and AOS.

Got my Medicare enrollment choices sorted out and a phone call scheduled for Fri to enroll. I'm still within my 6-month initial enrollment period so changing plans from my September choice is not subject to medical underwriting.
I'm leaving an individual policy (HMO) and getting more choices, more control, a much better insurance plan, and vastly lower premiums and out of pocket costs.

I'm leaving an individual policy (HMO) and getting more choices, more control, a much better insurance plan, and vastly lower premiums and out of pocket costs.
Not too shabby.

104. JJ. You can delay signing up for Medicare if you have a job with an employer that has more than 20 employees and have creditable insurance through them. Sometimes people will go ahead and sign up for A since its free and use that as a secondary to their work insurance. If you don’t have that situation, then you do need to sign up for Medicare. You have an eight month window in which to do it four months on either side of your birthday. right now Medicare and Social Security is super busy so I would sign up as soon as you possibly can if you need to with a date in mind as to when it takes affect. if you don’t sign up when you’re eligible and you don’t have creditable insurance, you start to incur a lifetime penalty for every month that goes by that you didn’t sign up.

A good friend's Medicare agent helped me initially navigate the Medicare A & B enrollment and then sign up for an Advantage type plan as a placeholder. There is a 6-month initial enrollment period (from the date of your Part B start) in which you may change plans without going thru medical underwriting. My 6-month IEP overlapped the annual enrollment period (Oct 15 - Dec 7).
The friend's Medicare agent was buried working with her existing clients and I wasn't hearing from her, so I went looking on my own.
The Medicare.gov website is actually quite good, functional, and very useful. I highly recommend using it. I'm still a little bit stunned that our gubmint can create and maintain something so helpful, given its track record of abject failures.
Also YT has a plethora of info, despite some of the clickbait scare headlines and thumbnails. I found Medicare School very helpful.

I've always wanted to write a boy-meets-girl, etcetera screen musical, where the characters sing American Songbook classics or some great 1960s pop music, but use the original recordings instead of revamped voices.
For instance, when boy loses girl to another guy, he sings in Ray Charles' voice "You Don't Know Me." Or the secondary leads dicover that they're in love and sing "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" in the voices of Brook Benton and Dinah Washington.
But that's basically a ripoff of Pennies From Heaven, so it's DOA.

Yes it’s the government and some of their rules are nuts and yes if you’ve saved all your life and have some income in retirement, you’re gonna get hit with higher premiums for Medicare.

The Medicare.gov website is actually quite good, functional, and very useful. I highly recommend using it. I'm still a little bit stunned that our gubmint can create and maintain something so helpful, given its track record of abject failures.

Lots of smaller towns near Evansville. Toyota has a big production facility down in that area. By big I mean has its own police station and fire department huge! Traffic can get ugly during shift change. Big hospital system in Evansville that's supposed to be really good. I've never been in that system so can't say for sure. University of Southern Indiana is down there I believe, along with University of Evansville. I don't spend much time in that area so can't really give you any "what it's like living there" info. Seems nice enough though. I'm not a city person and prefer smaller towns nearby places with more services. We're about 30 minutes south of Bloomington and an hour north of Evansville. Bloomington is a college town and very much leftist. Bedford is nearby also. You can find most of what you need in the southwest quadrant of Indiana. Get on up here to Hoosier land!!

Some important details I haven't read or heard being reported, even by FoxNews, about these millions of humble downtrodden illegal immigrants and illegal criminal immigrants from around the world:
- What do they eat during their trip, and how much? When? Who provides it?
- Where do they get potable water and how much?
- When and where do they sleep? Outdoors? In tents? In buildings?
- How long do they march per day? What distance? What if they can't keep up?
- What happens to those who get sick? Are they forced to march? What if they cannot march with their assigned group, for hours or days? Do they get any medical help, and/or any medicines?
This mass 'migration' is an unholy and inhumane racket that I suspect is funded in part by DHS one way or another before the people get to the Mexico/US border.

Not to confuse the issue - but here, our biggest source of children sold for s*x is the foster care system. The 'beauty, if you will', of that system is it's generational. We are in northeastern IN. Lots of small towns up here, access to good medical care, lots of cultural events. We were 36 years in SE Michigan, so we are used to much more snow than we get here. Last year we shoveled the driveway once, but it was a particularly dry year.
Our move was easier in that we moved to be close to our son and his family. We were already familiar with the area as they had lived here for 12 years and we came down here often. MrTea is still working and he is very happy with his job.
We are really happy here. Glad to be out of MI politics, for sure. People are friendly, lots to do, lots of parks and nature things.

Southernmost Indiana is like that (drive 62 between Louisville and Evansville for an example.) Up about Bloomington/Bedford you get to the push from the glaciers. We have family cemeteries that are on top of hills in the middle of the woods that are now part of Indiana state forest. Looking at the graves and then at how far off the road we went to get there- up steep hills and slick paths if it is at all damp- it must have really sucked to get the bodies up there.
