I dreamed of the young Heather Locklear naked last night.
No, it was not as cool as it sounds. Linda had dragged me to some ragged araof town to see some kind of faith or Eastern-mystic healer who was very popular and worked out of her own building. We walked into a crowded waiting room at eleven a.m. and were still sitting there an hour later when a tousled mane of blonde hair lifted from a bed-shelf in the far corner, closely followed by Heather's face. Apparently she slept there. With care and interest I watched her pad around naked, apparently not disturbing the other patients, and drinking her morning coffee. She was even more tanned than she looked in the '90s; and no, she had no tan lines. Believe me, I observed carefully. One dream I hated to wake up from. My pipe refuses to stay lit -- actually the tobacco in it, a blend from England which is notorious for being hard to dry out. So I will set it aside, sip some coffee, and announce that I spoke with my boss yesterday morning about my retirement. He was not happy, as you might expect, but cheered up a bit when I told him I was aiming for Jan. 31 as my end date, to give him room to hire somebody. I agreed to give him some slack and maybe, maybe, stay as late as March 31, to finish the budget. I'm sure he'll be able to find someone sooner than that.
He told me, in fact, that it was up to me, and he would not have the new person start until a little while before my final end date. He left it up to me if I wanted to have a retirement dinner. I'm waiting until Friday, after the main holiday is over, to tell Linda about it. It's not going to be a massive celebration, I'm sure. I enjoyed the movie, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" . One thing I noted- since it takes place in the 50's or 60's-was that everybody dressed up to go to church, which was a nice thing, and I guess that's why the iconic Norman Rockwell painting of Thanksgiving had everybody dressed up- because it was a special occasion.
I also liked that obviously- there was not one cell phone in the movie. 😊 Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 26, 2024 04:30 AM (Hd+yV) 15

Not that anyone cares, but I'll be around a little more for a while. One of our transcriptionists had a death in the family, and since the majority of them are in India, she'll be away for about a month or more. So in addition to my normal Tuesday and Wednesday full days, I'll be doing clean-up work on Thursday and Friday mornings.
It's extra cash, but I really can't take things much longer. The depression is getting worse and my anti-depressants are basically placebos at this point. Every now and then I'm fortunate enough to have a dream or two where I'm in love with (and she loves me) a beautiful woman (time period varies) and oh, how I don't want to ever wake up. I wish I didn't feel this way, but it's going to be a very sad Thanksgiving and Christmas for me this year. Sorry to dump this on you gook folks so early in the day. Posted by: CTSPURSMAN at November 26, 2024 *** Thanks, CT, I usually have no trouble with my pipes -- well, maybe with the packing, an art I'm still learning after several years. As with relationships, each session is different. You try to control as many variables as you can, but there's always an element of chaos. The same pipe, loaded the same way with the same leaf, can smoke differently on Tuesday from how it does on Saturday, and that's just how it is. The other matter, retirement . . . I'm scared to death. It's still a ways off and I want to try to control it too, as I try with my pipes. And yet, there is still chaos. Nuclear weapons are kind of interesting when you think about it.
-in one sense they are used to preserve the status quo. The idea being that the borders stay static because no one wants to risk getting nuked. At least some of the borders and that's the rub. -people want them for power and status and security, and the ones who have them do not want anyone else to get them- because it would then upset the status quo. -people who have them also enjoy the freedom their threat offers and act with a certain measure of impunity. -most of the people with that power have no idea how it works or even what would happen if they are used. It is kind of a microcosm of power down through the ages in a lot of ways. People never change. Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 26, 2024 06:09 AM (bss/y) 74

I’d wager Americans are no more misinformed by our media than the rest of the world is by their local media.
In fact, since so many nations get their news straight from state broadcasters and state media and government agencies, I’d say Americans have access to the wider variety of sources & opinions, good or bad, than the vast majority of the planet. It’s an old, bad faith, smug, condescending critique typical of left-wing dipshits like Baldwin. Hollywood has misinformed generations about history, politics, and economics. That Baldwin thinks Hollywood is a source of correct information instead of propaganda masquerading as entertainment shows he’s either stupid or has been bamboozled by their own PR B.S. It’s not your job to teach us anything. Once you get that through your thick skulls, we might get somewhere. I did ot realize until yesterday that frozen turkeys are generally pre-brined during processing, injected with a saline solution, therefore do not need to be brined at home.

VIA,
Thanks for mentioning those TOZO bluetooth ear buds the other day. They work well and were a lot less expensive than expected. I prefer my old Bose headset for music but the earbuds work great for books on tape and YT tutorials. And I can recharge my hearing aids while using the buds. Nice not being tied to the player. Another new report from Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), who chairs the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, shows that it was the Defense Department that delayed the eventual deployment of National Guard in the critical hours of the riot.
The evidence shows that, at 3:18 p.m., Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy “tells sheltering Members of Congress that he is not blocking the deployment of the National Guard and, while referencing the D.C. National Guard, shares that ‘We have the green light. We are moving.’” However, the secretary of the Army’s own timeline indicates that the DCNG did not physically leave the Armory until 5 pm. J6 was 100% (D) operation. Posted by: rhennigantx at November 26, 2024 06:53 AM (gbOdA) 102
83 Isaiah 41:10.
Just ask, He will hang on to you. Imagine the most loving and most loyal family member you have, multiply that by a thousand, and even that's not enough to describe how much God wants to help when he sees us hurting. Does He want us to lean on him and put all our cares and concerns on Him? YUP. See 1 Peter 5:7 So don't feel the littlest bit guilty about asking for a ton of help, or him to grab onto you with that right hand of righteousness and hold hold on REAL TIGHT that day. There's been several days I've done that, and have never regretted doing so. Okay, I gotta get to work. Everyone have the best day they can! I got up early with the dogs and they played in the new-fallen snow for a bit. Puppy then grabbed her best squeaky toy and ran upstairs to help my wife greet the day. I'm sure that will work out well.

J6 was 100% (D) operation. Posted by: rhennigantx at November 26, 2024 06:53 AM (gbOdA) — — So it took the National Guard about an hour and forty-five minutes to assemble, gear up, and leave the armory. That’s actually not bad since I don’t think the National Guard sits around the armory like firefighters just waiting on the alarm to come in. This is why Nancy & Co. should have taken up Trump’s offer the day before and had the NG on standby, ready to go if needed. But Nancy, due to fears of looking bad after a Summer of Love rioting, did not want the NG around, so they weren’t ready. And, in typical Dem fashion, they turn their own incompetence and screw-uos into a years-long propaganda effort to blame it on Orange Man Bad and his Fascist People’s Army as an insurrection. Or, they planned it all out that way from the beginning, and that plan has been unraveling ever since. Posted by: SpeakingOf at November 26, 2024 07:05 AM (6ydKt) 116

Posted by: TecumsehTea at November 26, 2024 *** TT, I actually spoke to my boss about it, and I'm planning on 1/31 as my end date! I'm not worried about snow. I lived in CO for four years and loved the four seasons every year. And I'm depressed and locked up indoors for a lot of the year here, in reverse, as the heat is terrifically oppressive. Though the natives seem to love it. So if I do get cabin fever in the North, at least I'll be in tune with my neighbors. I'm thinking the Evansville area, though I still have to come up and look. Any suggestions are welcome! Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 26, 2024 07:09 AM (J2vNu) 119
I'm suffering the w11 'experience'.
I guess Google needed to fuuk w Mac users similarly to how MS is fuuking w PC users. Right hand cntl 0 was a big part of Zoom full in Adobe. Dell replaced right cntl with a copilot button. Adobe also got rid of marquee zoom. This old dog is having a hard time with the new tricks. Posted by: sTevo at November 26, 2024 07:12 AM (asuK3) 120
