Missouri AG Senator Eric Schmitt: Fire All DOJ Officials Who Had Any Role in Trump's Prosecutions

Fired? Like, from a cannon?

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) called for a sweeping dismissal of Department of Justice employees who played roles in prosecuting President-elect Donald Trump. In a pointed interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Schmitt condemned the indictments as political attacks orchestrated to undermine Trump's campaign and presidency.

"You saw all these cases resurrected. They all fell apart under the weight of the law," Schmitt said, asserting that the DOJ's actions represent a systemic abuse of power. He stressed the need for accountability, arguing that removing special prosecutor Jack Smith alone would be insufficient.

"I think accountability means, first and foremost, the people involved with this should be fired immediately," Schmitt said. He alleged the DOJ's actions were designed to remove Trump from the ballot and tarnish his political career, labeling such efforts as undemocratic and harmful to the nation's judicial integrity.

Schmitt also criticized the DOJ for undermining its core mission of addressing crime, stating, "Getting it back to crime fighting is important, but there has to be accountability for these kinds of abuses."

Schmitt applauded Trump's attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi, who has vowed to combat what Republicans describe as the "weaponization" of federal agencies. Schmitt himself had been considered for the attorney general post in Trump's administration.

Alan Dershowitz asks the question, should the Trump prosecutors be themselves prosecuted?

I thought he would cuck out but his answer is actually "yes." I'd forgotten that the left used lots of lawfare against Trump and his lawyers. But Dershowitz hasn't forgotten that.

He points out that Fani Willis and Sweetdick committed perjury -- and always say "No one is above the law." Well, that includes them, he notes.

As for "Tish" James and Alvin Bragg, he doesn't think they can be charged with any crime, but he does think that they should be disbarred for abuse of office and malicious prosecution. Good luck getting the leftwing NY State Bar to take any action, though.

He doesn't think there's any basis for prosecuting Jack Smith, unfortunately.

Posted by: Scott_T at November 25, 2024 12:32 PM (2waQ7)

42 Prosecution of government officials for abuse of power is largely a waste of time, even though they deserve it. It would take years to administer, and DC juries/judges aren't going to convict any member of The Resistance tribe. It would be nothing but gag orders and sealing of evidence by judges, and "can't comment on an ongoing investigation" nonsense.

Much better to have all records ever produced by the DoJ made available to the public, and queryable by an AI for anyone to use.

The amount of malfeasance uncovered would destroy what little remains of the DoJ's credibility, and strengthen the public case for widespread reforms (and perhaps prosecutions if the malfeasance is bad/obvious enough).

If the left fights the changes, Do we have to lawfare so bad we overstep and the dems screech injustice, then things will change? Because the left proved after 2016 they don't know how to play nice anymore. But I hate lawfare in general. I'm sad they forced their hand.

Remember, Marc Elias was running ads in swing states threatening any lawyer who dared to work for the Republicans on election matters with disbarment and prosecution.

A 2 AM FBI SWAT raid on Marc Elias' house, with Marc being hauled out in his underwear under the glare of TV lights.

It doesn't matter if the charges stick, but it would be deserved payback for how the FBI treated Trump's allies.

156 One of the under-appreciated but truly disgusting and chilling aspects of the lawfare culture the Dems have produced is this legal world prejudice against Trump and actual action/intimidation to back it up. In 2020 in PA, one of several states with (obviously) outrageous and histrionic evidence of fraud and violation of state and federal law in the election process, major law firms made it clear that helping the Trump campaign in legal challenges would place you in Siberia.

A friend was on the margins of this and confirmed what a stunning and chilling thing it was. Dismissals and whatever by a fedgov under new management are fine and justified, but the reality is a lot darker and bigger, and not sure how that's addressed.

240 Downside is, it's an independent contractor position, so no 401K, health benefits, etc.

Does anyone here have experience working as an independent contractor? What's it like?

-------------

I've been one (a medical courier) for 12 years; upside is I'm pretty much my own boss -- and since I use my own vehicle, can deduct miles driven and pay no income tax as a result and a small SSI self-employment tax (but you's have to do at 13%). You can deduct any business expenses for your gig.

Downside like you say is no benefits -- and in my case, only two vacations (haven't missed a single day of work otherwise) over 12 years because I generally have to find my own replacement (may not be an issue in your case).

NOTE that as was done in Califzuela a couple years ago (with loopholes carved out for Uber & Lyft, natch), the F. Joe Mugabe Junta's Department of Labor was all hot & bothered to criminalize independent contracting nationwide (throwing tens of millions out of work) -- as a sop to Big Oligarch and The Unions -- so we've at least gotten a 4-year reprieve on that with Trump's reelection.

242 Jack Smith continues to practice law AFTER Judge Cannon finds he was no authorized to prosecute Trump.

A real lawyer would halt all his cases, tell his Bar Associations the issue is pending, and litigate the issue.

Jack Smith is not ethical and neither are the Bar Associations who license lawyers and ignore his dubious illegal status as a lawyer.

This goes for AG Garland who illegally appointed the jerk.

I've been proposing this for months. File the case in Southern District of Florida with the Mar-a-Lago raid as the predicate act establishing jurisdiction. Name as defendants everyone who set foot on the compound, then start flipping them to go after their bosses all the way up to Smith and maybe Garland and Wray if the paper (email) trail exists. I can't believe Garland and Wray weren't informed in advance and at least didn't disapprove. I can't believe there wasn't coordination with the Secret Service.

256 The things they did to Trump are the very things that the king used to do to people he didn't like. Accuse them of something (usually not an actual crime because the kings word is the law) and then execute them or throw them in jail forever.

The revolutionary war was started primarily because of this. Here we are doing the same shit again.

You investigate crimes, not individuals.

258 Shredding government records is a crime. But when you've been ordered to preserve them, 18 USC 1512 (C) (1) with its 20 year prison term for each document you destroy is in play. Think about what you are doing DOJ people. Remember, first person to squeal gets the deal.

Agree. A Canon would blow them to pieces immediately. Might as well just strap dynamite on them (that sounds good too). But the trebuchet would give them a brief moment to think about what a shitty person they are before they splat on the ground.

🚨NEW: Adam Schiff doesn’t believe that Trump AG pick Pam Bondi should be “prosecuting the prosecutors."

"Is she going to continue to say that the Justice Department should be prosecuting prosecutors who brought valid evidence before a grand jury?"

“A grand jury found probable cause to believe Donald Trump committed crimes. That's not a basis to go after them."

The American people who gave a mandate to Trump disagree, Adam.

The people responsible for the “Get Trump” op at the Biden DOJ must be held to account.

Mike Davis @mrddmia Nov 24
Dear @AdamSchiff:
A federal grand jury in Ft. Pierce, FL must probe whether agents, prosecutors and other co-conspirators in FL, DC, NY, and AZ waged illegal lawfare and election interference against Trump, his aides, and his allies.
