Disclaimer: As it turns out, I did not accidentally throw out the fruit cake. I was cleaning the kitchen yesterday and there was some fruit loaf sitting on the counter - or so I thought - and I realised that it had to be stale since I haven't bought fruit loaf for two or three weeks. So I threw it out. Then later on I went to get a slice of fruit cake and there wasn't any because I had thrown it out. Though I couldn't understand how I had done that since they don't look that much alike. And this was a problem because gluten-free fruit cake is available for about three weeks of the year and the window has already closed, so there wouldn't be any more until October next year. But then I was in the kitchen today and I found the fruit cake and it turns out that I did in fact throw out stale fruit loaf which is available year-round. So I had some. Dreams . . . I had a variant on the "unprepared for a test" nightmare. I had missed the 7:30-9:15 morning class of whatever it was, and arrived at the auditorium about 9:20. The same prof taught both the first class and the 9:30 one, and I usually sat on the second or third row, so I was sure (despite the fact the class was a big one in a giant auditorium) that he'd know I'd skipped. I crept into a desk farther back. Then I discovered I had no paper to take notes on. I hoped to borrow some from a classmate, but it seemed I didn't know anybody to ask.
A woman came up to me with a shoulder bag, asking if I knew the owner, and described him -- poorly, as the owner came up, and he didn't resemble the description at all. Nice note to start a Monday on. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 25, 2024 04:15 AM (omVj0) 15

Posted by: JQ at November 25, 2024 *** Sorry to hear that, JQ. A good morning to you! "Take it one day at a time" is the best life advice I ever got; maybe you can adapt it to you. The Swamp cooled on Friday and Saturday, and warmed back again (not as bad) yesterday, so I had to run the window unit A/C in the afternoon. 'Tis 64 F. right now, which is fairly pleasant. This work week is short, only two days for me, as my boss is letting us off (unofficially) on Wed. As he says, just don't do anything criminal, or he will have to say, "I didn't know Wolfus wasn't at work; nope, didn't have any idea."
Last night Miss Linda had a migraine coming, so she left early and I knew discussing my retirement wasn't going to work. Today, I plan to screw my courage to the sticking place and talk to my boss about it. Scary . . . but the other great saying in AA is, "Feel the fear and do it anyway." Posted by: Pete Bog at November 25, 2024 *** Thank you, sir. I have no idea how the boss will take it; I hope he'll be okay with my leaving at the end of Jan. As for Linda, the right time never seems to arrive. Perhaps the melatonin I've suggested to her will head off the migraine, and we can discuss this on Friday, after the T-giving fuss is over. (We're going to a nice restaurant on Thursday p.m., so it's not a cooking fuss.) She still hasn't told me what she wants for her b'day on 12/1. I'll stop at Dillard's and get her some perfume or a gift card, I guess. Wonder of wonders. My heating solutions are working, and my wife is not complaining about how cold she is. This is most unusual in the winter.
Because I remember how much she hated it in summer when our geothermal unit recirc pump needed to be replaced. Zounds. I sent her to a hotel. I am writing a report for a project I've done. I always provide one or more tables showing the hierarchy for patent classifications used in the search. Constructing them is a huge, persnickety pain in the posterior. If there's something AI can do for me, it's this. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 25, 2024 07:07 AM (dxSpM) 106
Are you and the remaining dogs go for launch? Posted by: NaCly Dog at November 25, 2024 07:07 AM (u82oZ) Dogs are fine. I'm going in this morning for a heart exam. Nothing alarming, just a follow-up. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at November 25, 2024 07:08 AM (dxSpM) 107

Somewhere in the USPTO, there is a pale geek, who knows no touch of a woman, that lives for organizing the patent classification list. Posted by: NaCly Dog at November 25, 2024 07:14 AM (u82oZ) Posted by: Biden's Dog sniffs a whole lotta malarkey, at November 25, 2024 07:14 AM (3KZZ8) 114

Good morning. I have a puppy question for Hadrian . At what age should puppies stop having "accidenrs" in the house. We purchased a bernedoodle a week and a half ago. He is quire smart and we have about house broken him, but on occasion if we don't get him outside in the morning on time (I'm hurt at the moment, but wife does her best) he still pees in the house. Just curious because he is smart. He will even come to me during the day and bark at me if he needs to ho. Makes me think he should not be having accidents. Amy help would be appreciated. At what age should puppies stop having "accidenrs" in the house. The rule of thumb is they can hold it for one hour for every month of age. It might help to confine him to a crate for the evening as dogs are adverse to eliminating where they sleep. We're attuned to hearing them and if they start to complain, run them out. I once implemented a telnet client that supported the "randomly lose" option as per the relevant RFC.
Ah, that takes me back. Posted by: Cybersmythe at November 25, 2024 07:28 AM (iZEhM) 121
Absolutely crate the puppy at night and make sure that the size of the crate is only big enough for them to lay comfortably. If you use a crate that is too roomy, the puppy will typically just mess in a corner when it can't hold it any longer.
For young puppies, we'd set an alarm every two hours and take turns getting up and taking the puppy out to its soiling area. Posted by: one hour sober at November 25, 2024 07:28 AM (Y1sOo) Processing 0.02, elapsed 0.0257 seconds. |
