Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Open ThreadA little boy was doing his math homework. He said to himself, "Two plus five, that son of a ***** is seven. Three plus six, that son of a ***** is nine...." His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, "What are you doing?" The little boy answered, "I'm doing my math homework, Mom." "And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?" the mother asked. "Yes," he answered. Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, "What are you teaching my son in math?" The teacher replied, "Right now, we are learning addition." The mother asked, "And are you teaching them to say two plus two, that son of a ***** is four?" After the teacher stopped laughing, she answered, "What I taught them was, two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICH, is four." There is frugal and then there is larceny. Meet Mohammed Abdullah Alabilan. The 27-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested yesterday on a petty theft charge for allegedly stealing a lap dance. Alabilan, cops say, “was buying a service” from a woman inside a Florida strip club when he “refused to pay the $40 service fee.” Seen above, Alabilan sought to leave the Reign nightclub in Clearwater without paying for the 2:45 AM private dance. Driving down I-75 in SW FL last night at about 1:30 a.m., we saw the first quarter moonrise and the sight was startling.
Not far off the horizon, it had the attitude of a teacup or a half grapefruit, in that the line between the lit half and the dark was almost parallel the horizon. At first we though we were seeing a full moon with a heavy cloud line obscuring its entire upper half, but there was not a cloud in the sky. I'd never seen a first quarter moonrise like it. Coolest sight in our long two day drive down from northern IL. Posted by: Mr Gaga at November 23, 2024 09:49 PM (KiBMU) 20

Beloit didn't have much of a sportsball team, but they had one heckuva homecoming band that first year I was there. That was four years before the linked vid. I'll always remember, there was a quiet moment, and from the middle of the floor, some asshoe yelled out, "Eat me, Frank!" There was a most intriguing pause, and then Frank came back with, "I hope that's a girl with a deep voice!" The crowd was amused. Quinn Sullivan - Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad (Live) 2023
https://youtu.be/JhHLS_zFENQ Quinn Sullivan - Let it Rain (Live) - 2018 https://youtu.be/eYBpqtA2ibo The 2023 performance captures Quinn, in his early 20s, playing at the highest levels of musicianship. This not accidental since at this point he has been playing professionally for over 10 years, maybe a bit more. Often with Buddy Guy since he was 8ish. This 2023 video performance is a Clapton masterpiece, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, from Layla. The artistic maturation of these prodigies since 2018 is stunning and special. The band has this gift to transcend making music and produce something more, sound as poetry. The 2018 performance is essentially the same band and is included to show off how solid Quinn and his pals were 5 years earlier. Posted by: Alteria Pilgram at November 23, 2024 10:44 PM (aeC4O) 200

My tree is still up from last year. I ended up having surgery the week it was supposed to come down. Then I had some months of recovery, so it wasn't coming down any time soon. I said screw it, leave it up. The day after thanksgiving I just have to plug it in. Kinda glad I don't have to do the 3 day ritual of putting the thing up. Makes it easy this year.

In New Mexico we celebrate Christmas by buying tamales.
To be clear, you just don't walk into the store to buy tamales. You have to know somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody who gives you a phone number to somebody that makes the tamales. Once you make a phone call and connect you place your order for a dozen or two or three and agree to meet in a Walmart parking lot some days later at a certain time Of course this is all done on strictly first name basis only and with the transaction completed in cash. This is but one example of why I love living in New Mexico. If all this is sounding exactly like selling drugs it is because these tamales are a drug. Anna, I dug up a Becker Europa car radio for a VW Beetle that I didn't know I had. Long Wave, Broadcast band, 49 meter SW band, and FM. There is a dash unit, and another box with the audio amp. It's transistor, not tubes, and it is stone dead. Hooked a speaker to it and applied power, and nary a peep, and the dial does not light up. And it looks like some of the hair-fine wires on some of the tuning coils are severed.
Maybe a Euro car radio restorer could fix it; I am not even going to try. Also, there are guys that can gut out these old radios, and put modern chips inside them. I will give it to any Horde member who wants it, but as far as I know, it's worthless unless big $$$ are spent to fix it. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 23, 2024 11:20 PM (AYhGu) 295

Cord would not reach the one outlet in the barn, so I had to go fetch an extension cord. And I thought, "You know, that fuel tank might be empty." So I brought along a plastic liter bottle of gas, too. Good thing. Tank was dry. Added the gas, plugged in the starter, and vrooom! Plowed my way to the garage, and filled the tank right up. ------ Oh, wasn't meant as "couseling" LOL! Your 2 borrowed critters are young, yes? They'll be trainable. (for certain values of the word) Cat had been a neighbor's Barn Cat for almost a decade, before he ended up in my yard. That's how I know his age and history-- I "stole" him quite by accident and had a long chat with the neighbors. They understand, although the lady seemed extremely pissed off, at first. Long story. So, Cat never learned about the litter box and was very shy about coming indoors for a long time. Doesn't like to be picked up or held closely, doesn't play much with toys except catnip mouse. Heh. Claws are *razor* sharp and deadly, but he gives a good soft-paw warning when he's had enough of petting. Woe if we ignore it! Anyway-- he's our cat now, with their blessing. They get to see him, but we get the vet bills. Hmmmm........... Posted by: JQ at November 24, 2024 12:34 AM (njWTi) 449
Any of you guys up north ever use one of those Schulte PTO-driven snowblowers? I acquired one but have not put it to work yet. Should have used it last week, but had to much work to do, so I just waited for the snow to melt mostly.

There is a particular young man in the pub where I'm at tonight that always wears a certain hat. If he was to show up one day, not wearing that a hat, I don't think his smile would be quite so beautiful. - Sylvia Plath before she stuck her head into an oven and killed herself.

Respectfully, fuck you. Posted by: Alteria Pilgram at November 24, 2024 12:21 AM (aeC4O) Respectfully, no offense taken, 'cause you don't know the lay of the land, here. See, Wal-Mart is on Seawall Blvd, and about a third of their year-round business IS TOURISTS. Even in the grocery. The huge number of full-kitchened condos rented out here, the tourists got the cookin' goin' on, too. Depot is where the locals in the know come to make the tamale hook-ups. Damn few tourists on that acreage. Believe it or not, more than a few tourists WILL alert store security (who don't give a damn) or the local cops (who sometimes do), about "street vendors" dealing in the wally world lot. Your story is like ours. Our friends are going on vacation in the new uear and we wanted to get the cats used to the house now rather than January in Canada. We're currently sharing them. The cats stay inside a lot of the time. We feed them. Tons of toys, Cat tree. They get along with the dog. We'll see. Have a great week and thank you. Robert Crumb Is our greatest comic author as he completely captured the preverse 1960s subculture, exemplified by his thick thighed "loose" women, that caused Vaseline and baby oil sales to skyrocket in a specific youthful part of our society.

Posted by: Stateless at November 24, 2024 12:53 AM (jvJvP) Schmoos were a storyline in L'il Abner. They were a mythical creature whose entire life was dedicated to being eaten by people. And their eyes could be used as buttons. The proliferation of Schmoos wrecked the entire economy, because nobody worked any more. Schmoos would simply jump into your skillet and immolate themselves for your dinner. One could think of it as a satire on EBT cards. The girls (dogs) brought me a nice new mousecicle today. Neither one ate it so I don’t entirely know what’s going on, but they were pretty darned proud of that thing. It resides in splendid glory on the bottom step of the stairs outside the doggie door as a trophy of valor.
