There are gorgeous cats everywhere, peeking from windows, trotting down scenic streets, and even leaping from rooftops. With so many canals in the city, cats are often near the water. It's for that reason the city also has an unofficial police cat!The Knight Cat (codename: K.I.T.T.Y.) goes on patrols and adventures which are documented here.

Long Term
Where do the Democrats go from here? Each party, like it or not, run on "dynasty" cycles. Often it involved a president, then his VP, or children, or in recent times wife. In the past, the Dems had the Roosevelt-Truman Dynasty. The GOP had the Eisenhower-Nixon Dynasty, which was interrupted by the JFK-Johnson-RFK dynasty. Then there was the Reagan-Bush Sr.-Bush Jr.-Cheney Dynasty, which competed against the Clinton-Gore-Hillary Dynasty. Which brings us up to the present, with the Obama-Biden-Kamala Dynasty being stopped by the Trump I-Trump II--(Vance???) Dynasty. But as the above lists note, the Dems have just come to the end of their most recent dynasty. The Obama-Biden-Kamala Dynasty is now FINISHED -- Obama not eligible, Biden too old, Kamala proven unelectable, none of their kids old enough or involved in politics, and they ran out of VPs. So the Dems have to start from scratch, someone generate a new dynasty from thin air. But they have no one. No big names. No elder statesmen. Not young dynasty members. If you were the Dems, what is your next move for 2028? For a brief moment in the 1990s, the West was so preponderant in strength that diktats from various capitals really did produce results.
But it's now obvious that it's all empty words. Canada has no military power, nor does the Netherlands. That is the true currency of international relations. Russia just dropped a MIRV on Ukraine and no one could do a thing to protect them. The message is obvious - just as your embassy is only as strong as your ability to defend or avenge it, your international court is only as strong as the guys sent to enforce it. 20 If you were the Dems, what is your next move for 2028? Posted by: zombie at November 22, 2024 07:26 PM (pMi6S) It’s a pointless question. Democrats are at the point where they are no longer in control of their destiny; they no longer have a choice as to their future. It’s their own fault; they’ve let the crazies take over and they are chasing all of the reasonable members out. They’re going to be the Tranny party from here on out. Posted by: Tom Servo I fully agree with you, and that's pretty much my point. Not only do they not have any current big names to nominate, they have eliminated the possibility of ever uniting behind any new candidate in the future. Well, we have to think of it strategically.
Whitmer has been the governor of Michigan for two terms. Let's say, hypothetically, that she manages to win the primaries and picks Josh Shapiro as her V.P. choice. Shapiro has been popular in Pennsylvania, and he presents as a relative moderate compared to most of his party. That's two important swing states that have a good chance to be won by that combination. It could also be reversed if Shaprio wins the primaries. The Dems will be laser-focused like stoned cats on the Electoral College and the Blue Wall states to win them back in '28. So swing state politicians are in the driver's seat. Unfortunately for Newsom, California isn't a swing state. Posted by: SpeakingOf at November 22, 2024 08:20 PM (6ydKt) 197

The Democrats are not going to bother with a primary in 2028. In fact, they won't even nominate an actual candidate. They will simply run Generic Democrat against Vance. With a theoretical candidate, they will be able to do Biden's basement campaign one better. In addition, there will be no past positions that they need to change, modify or simply deny like Harris. There will be no need for face to face interviews without an actual candidate so no embarrassments like Biden or Kamala.
The media, the celebrities and the base will endorse a theoretical candidate with all the passion and sincerity that they came out for Kamala. And if they can drag a non-entity over the finish line, well, then the real fun begins as they try to figure out who actually gets 1600 Pennsylvania and Air Force One. Or not. Yes, this correct. What about something like Verizon 5G Home Internet or TMobile 5G Home Internet? These bang a near by cell tower and provide wireless internet at more than sufficient speeds in the $50 to $60 price range. They are easy to setup and have great reliability with one caveat. Since they are wireless there most sufficient coverage where the modem will be setup. But if this not a issue they work great - I know because I have been using the Verizon flavor for a couple years. Oh, and there are no data caps.

Note that the Senate Rules Committee is nothing like its House namesake, which is a powerful body there. Senate Rules is Siberia, in power terms. Cannot recall that committee doing anything of consequence all the years I was there. They don't even really run the show on "rules". Senate rules, rarely touched, are done on the floor.
Last senator with a serious knowledge of the rules was Byrd (WV), don't think anyone like that exists today. Once saw him win an epic struggle with the parliamentarian, key issue being whether a footnote in the Senate Rules book was numbered with a Roman, vs. arabic, numeral. Along with Fritz Hollings speeches, a Byrd v. parliamentarian debate was one you didn't want to miss. Posted by: Medicare, and at November 22, 2024 09:31 PM (1m82a) 336

Labor secretary is not an extremely important position in this administration. As you say, it might be abolished, or at least cut back
