Rogue "Republican" Seantors Force Matt Gaetz's Withdrawal

Matt Gaetz
@mattgaetz

I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback - and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump's DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.

I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history. I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I'm certain he will Save America.

trumpacceptswitgdrawal.jpg

Matt Gaetz wouldn't have been my pick -- as Megyn Kelly said, sometimes I find these constant attention-seekers exhausting -- but I don't like the loss. Once he was named, I was behind him, because of the principle involved-- Trump deserves his picks, and he deserves, yes, "loyalists."

If you didn't want Trump to appoint "loyalists," you shouldn't have attempted to subvert his entire first term and contrive an FBI/CIA investigation into him based on Hillary Clinton's fictional oppo file.

I don't know what Trump can or should do about the Rogue Regime "Republicans." On one hand, he doesn't want to completely set them on fire, because these liberals will just declare themselves independent and caucus with the Democrats.

On the other hand, I don't know if he has any choice but to announce he will make it the goal of his presidency to defeat Cornyn, Lankford, Cassidy, Thune, McConnell, Collins, and Murkowski, even if it means electing actual acknowledged Democrats in their place.

And of course that snake Lindsey Graham.

A Trump advisor makes that threat:

I don't think the threat really counts until Trump signs his name to it.

I don't know if he's ready to torch the Senate, though.

Maybe they struck a deal with Trump that if Trump got Gaetz to withdraw, they'd give the rest of his nominees a positive vote.

I doubt it, though. And I wouldn't trust any of these snakes to keep their word.

10 A somewhat sane liberal I listen to said they weren't going to set their hair on fire yet over any of his cabinet picks. That Trump would go though them like tissue paper, and it would be a rotating list. Not sure if they meant in both in the toughness of the confirmation process, or once they are confirmed, because of personality and leadership clashes. They are probably not wrong. We'll see.

I love the musical Hamilton, and there's a line in it by George Washington that's apt for Trump:

"Winning is easy [and Washington says this after how hard it was to win the revolution], governing is harder. "

Much work to do. Roll off the setbacks and keep moving America forward to greatness! And find a spot for Gaetz that doesn't require congress to say yes.

Trump literally told them to go fuck themselves

No one wanted the report released; now it doesn’t ever have to be, Johnson is off the hook, and Matt has plausible deniability for resigning his house seat, and Trump gets behind the scenes credit for making the deal work. And Matt will most likely get a good job that does not require confirmation.

There's a solid bench of possible AGs, but RFK is a generational cabinet member. He must be confirmed. There's a huge swath of normal Americans that support many of his policies, not just RFK voters who swited to Trump after the endorsement, but a large number of already-Trump supporters who loved RFK's health reform ideas.

Letting him go would be a terribly demoralizing signal from Trump to his voters. We didn't just vote for "no Kamala." We voted for the fundemental curtailing of the bureaucracy that Trump promised.

Trump should probably just appoint unofficial czars and tell whoever gets appointed AG that he answers to the justice czar who is acting on Trump's own authority. The AG has to obey Trump anyway so if he uses a czar as his intermediary then no one can gainsay him. The czars attend the cabinet meetings and get to speak. The RINO approved cabinet officials can sit in a corner and do as they are told or GTFO.

267 It doesn't matter who is nominated to the DOJ....they will fight anyone (regardless of how pristine their reputation is) unless that person will preserve the status quo. The Deepstate's influence and effectiveness hinges on it's ability to hold the Sword of Damocles over all challengers to their agenda.

Think of the DOJ as the enforcer of their will on all other agencies (and politicians) whether via threat or act.

But Trump could maybe find other loyalists who will be more difficult to stand against. We might not like it, but opposing Gaetz and Hegseth is too easy. That's why I think Hegseth won't make it either. The other so-called controversial picks (Noem, Gabbard, Kennedy) are much more difficult to credibly oppose, and I'm very confident they will get through. There is a lot of room between "firebrand, unconventional, loyalist with salacious skeletons in the closet", and "deep state McConnell stooge." I'm confident Trump can find them and get the type of cabinet he needs, while not arming his enemies (including Republicans) with easy targets.

349 I'm pissed, but not surprised. Not sure Trump realky thought it would work anyway. Now he can make a position for him that doesn't need confirmation, and put his real pick forward? I don't know how much 3D chess is going in, and I don't normally believe that anyway, but I'm hoping there eas a plan.

Hegseth is the one I'm worried about. Not him, but his baggage.

They knew about Gaetz' issues, not sure if they knew about Pete's. Not sure why Pete didn't warn them.

One thing that aggravates me is the threat of primarying the traitors.

Some of these people are from purple states. They get re-elected for the very reason that they don't always vote lockstep. My point being is that it's a worthless threat. If the people in, say, Maine, wanted a red meat Republican, they would've kicked Collins out a long time ago. Doubt she's worried about being primaried.
Also, some of them just got reelected; the punishment is years away.
There has to be a much stronger consequence.

Paxton's amazing, but I don't know if he's ready to leave Texas before he finishes the job there. There's no doubt folks I'd never have thought of for the role that'd be good choices. We hold that a second prosecution under these circumstances is a due process violation, and we therefore reverse defendant’s conviction.”

loan.

I saw a post from Chef Andrew Gruel yesterday saying his payroll taxes suddenly went up $2,000. His explanation sounded weird, so I wasn't sure if it's real. He says he called the payroll company and they explained CA's budget shortfall somehow got put on the employers of the state, so payroll taxes went up.

But apparently there's a federal law that when a state defaults on a federal unemployment insurance loan, the state's businesses can be forced to repay the loan.
Apparently CA stopped payment on a federal loan they used to cover CA's unemployment shortfall, and now CA businesses are on the hook.

That's insane, if true! CA is going to keep doing this and drive even more businesses out of state.

The main reason is this, my mother was a college professor when she married. Soon after that she was a mother and raising the kids, doing book reviews every so often for the city paper. So in terms of building a business empire, that professorship meant little to the family.

To me it meant lots of history books on the shelves that ended in the 50s which was nice to have.

690 I've been giving the matter of the GOP-e bloc of the Senate some thought.

While twiddling one's thumbs for a year and a half to primary the corporate wing of the Senate Republicans up for re-election has some appeal, I think there's a more immediate way of having our concerns addressed.

As a result of Trump's House picks for Cabinet and agency positions, a number of House special elections will soon be upon us. There will be primaries. One or more of the primary candidates should be a "Trump" candidate. That candidate must be WELL-funded and supported by the administration, not only to make sure that person receives the nomination, but also because the Dems will fight tooth and nail for their pick in the general election. The Trump wing must fight to win EVERY House special election, to impress the Senate races to come and to pad their majority in the House of Representatives.

Traditionally savvy women would 'bet' on a good fellow and pair with him, either marrying now or waiting for the right time to wed. In the dating culture war scene these women are off the battle field and not participants. But in evolutionary terms it is a poor choice for a female to not consider if a mate can provide for the future children, and her.

In modern women these instincts are turned up to 111 and the idea that you can't just 'manifest' a prince charming is universal so you have all the woman on the dating circuit they will all have the same .1 percent of men all to themselves and the rest of men do not exist.

Plutonium is element 94, Uranium is 92 so it is not a fission product. I think there is a double beta decay that produces some of it naturally.

But that we are 'close' to capturing an asteroid entirely is BS. We've scraped some material off and gotten it back I think from some, but even mining some off a metallic one is more than we can do.

708 Gaetz is a loser who pervs on teenage girls (maybe not illegal, but not exactly solid upstanding). Trump doesn't seem too broken up about his withdrawal.

709 Also, what the hell? Senators do not owe any loyalty to the president.

I thought so, too, but there is no case. The worst thing he did was pulverize Viagra and chase it with Red Bull, which is sordid, but hardly worth tossing him over. Look up Negyn Kelly's youtube video. The case was dropped after 3 years because the accesses and witnesses are not credible ( per Bidens DoJ, who was actively trying to destroy him) and one of the other persons involved is serving time in prison...prison, not jail... for making false charges regarding sexual assaults.

He did have sex with a 17 year old who told him she was 18, and he stopped the relationship til she turned 18.

I do think this is partly dislike of him personally.

But I do wonder why these fuckers don't bring up Clinton and Ted Kennedy and tell everyone to shut the f up and sit the hell down with their pearl clutching bullshit.

712 Ladies and gentlemen, I, Governor Ron Desantis, appoint Matt Gaetz as the next Senator from Florida, replacing Senator Rubio.

713 If the scofflaw Senators hail from States with conservative Governors, perhaps Trump should nominate them for various sinecures in his administration. It gets rid of the RINOs immediately without conflict, and allows the Governors to replace them with more reliable lawmakers.
