"Expert" Allan Lichtman Melts Down In Argument With Master Debater Cenk Uygur (???), Declares That Anyone Saying He's Wrong Is Commiting "A Blasphemy Against Me"
Allen Lichtman, like so many other pretenders in the media sphere, is a literal zero. He is a nobody, a nothing, a nil.
You only know who he is because every four years, the media trots him out as part of their efforts to fill up as many minutes as possible with nonsense. You've seen him -- he's the guy with the "13 keys" for predicting, or just guessing, the outcome of presidential elections. (He's such an incredible scholar that you haven't heard of him in any other context.) He claims something like his 13 keys have "predicted" the winner in all but one of the last nine presidential elections. Some might say that sounds like it's not much of a better record than most people would achieve through simple guessing, especially given that most presidential contests are not close and can easily be predicted by people who do not possess the awesome power of The Keys. But those people are Blasphemers, as we'll soon find out. Before Biden dropped out, this Savant claimed his "keys" predicted a Biden win, so Democrats must stick with Biden. The keys guaranteed his re-election! Mind you, this was at a time when we now know that Biden's internal polling showed him losing 400 electoral votes to Trump. After Biden dropped out, he guaranteed that Kamala would win. His Keys proclaimed her victory! But some other people looked at his stupid "keys" and found that, first of all, they were largely about highly subjective things like whether the short-term economy and the long-term economy were positive for the incumbent or not. Despite that the fact that America is in the grips of high inflation (short term) and on the edge of a recession (long term), Lichtman gave these two "keys" to Kamala Harris. Nate Silver said, "Wait a minute, that doesn't seem right to me." Lichtmann blasted him as a know-nothing punk who just didn't know how to properly work the Magic Keys.
"My prediction for this presidential election was wrong. I own up to it right now. I am taking time off today." "My aim is to assess why the keys were wrong and what we can learn from this era and what the election means for the future of our country going forward."That lasted about 48 hours. Within 48 hours, he'd figured out the problem: The Keys were right. They'd always been right. It was the voters who were wrong. Now back from his intense 48 hour period of reflection and re-analysis, Lichtman has been spamming out excuses about why his incredible, magical, fantastical keys completely got the winner wrong. (Although Nate Silver would say that actually the keys pointed to a Trump win, but Lichtmann is such a hyperpartisan he wrongly assigned keys to get the outcome he wanted.) His favorite excuse is... wait for it... "Misinformation." You see, his Keys totally overlooked the possibility that the Democrat's opponent might get to speak during this election cycle, and say things that hyperpartisans like Lichtman don't think is true. Which is what he means by "misinformation." His keys work GREAT unless a Republican is allowed to be heard! If that happen, the Keys are of no use whatseover!

WI NV and MI all had middle of the night decisive ballot batches (in MI, many of them ludicrously implausible).

I don't think D pressured his wife, she was obviously looking to monkey-branch off his fame from the start it was amazing how obvious her efforts were while everyone in the YT circles was saying that it was going to fail in short order.
I saw him talk about it BEFORE she dumped him. IIRC the interview he said that he was more into the idea then she was but he had to be true to himself of some such.

So overall, just taking the Gallup poll winner, it correctly predicted the winner from 1936-2012 with only two misses--1948 and 1960 (both in October).
2016, national polling predicted Trump to lose the popular vote but by more than he actually did. 2020, curiously, the polling and Biden's actual percentage matched. 2024, again, national polling miss as Trump won both the electoral and popular vote this election.

Back in the French and Indian War once the brits got over their intital humilating losses and started getting going the Army raised troops and funds from the colonists by going to the colonial assemblies and saying, "we need X troops, stores and the like for this campaign" and the assemblies would figure out how to do so - a tax, or asking the rich folk to pitch in.
This worked pretty well the ensuing 5 years or so until the war was won. So when the Parliament started inventing taxes the assemblies were pissed that they weren't being consulted

Scotus simply required more due process in Jackson v. Indiana but it raised the burden of proof to clear and convincing (sorta kinda similar in civil actions to beyond a reasonable doubt) for confinement.
O'Connor v. Donaldson in 1975 is what did real damage, It stated, "A finding of mental illness alone is not sufficient grounds for confining a person against their will. They must be found to be a danger to others or incapable of surviving safely without institutional care."
That can be done but it takes an awful lot of documentation. Clayton Cramer of 2A fame, wrote a book about how the laws affected a sibling with schizophrenia and how agencies compounded the problem via extreme risk aversion to do what they could do quite easily even with Scotus decisions.

Lara Trump and Whatley were saying pretty much since the day they were appointed at the RNC their number 1 goal was election integrity and they were going to flood every swing state with hundreds of lawyers and poll watchers. They started filing lawsuits early and often every time a Democrat even hinted at going off the reservation.
That's why I was pretty confident Trump was going to win. Biden only "won' in 2020 because massive cheating was allowed and the RNC did squat. Not having a lockdown with millions of mail in ballots everywhere helped was a big deal but having a team that actually fought was the key in my opinion.

It is virtually impossible to be committed against your will, no matter how crazy you might be, and then it is usually for about three days. This has as much to do with how much your insurance will pay for as it does with actual, you know, healthcare. You can spend weeks in the hospital with a respiratory infection but have your brain go bad and you are fucked. My sister does involuntary commitments and she's seen the worst. The system is a joke.

In the book, The Blue Max, Stachel's major malfunction was that he was an alcoholic. I guess Chandler missed that part. Also, Stachel survived the war, it was Hauptmann Heidemann who took the death dive. There was a sequel concerning Stachel leading up to WWII. In my humble opinion, the book was better.

Of those 11 races, 9 were slam dunks. The ones he got right that were iffy were 2016 and 2020. And 2020 doesn't count because Trump actually won. 2024 was a slam dunk, but he got it wrong.

Ok not a great example.
Disagree. Costner was awful but Snape's Sheriff was fantastic. Manic and malevolent. Somewhat aware of how broken he was but completely committed to his mad course. i still get a chill when Mary Elizabeth Mastrentonio screams 'Robin!' to warn him when he's trying to rescue her. I know how bad Costner is in this movie; but I absolutely love it.
