So I joined twitter three months ago because I was tired of reading about twitter on sites like Twitchy and not being able to check the story links. I am glad I had Twitter/x during the election. It was fun to celebrate a win and see so many others celebrating. Also, there are some people that post breaking news and I wanted to read it.
After three months, I decided Twitter is an incredible waste of time. There’s nothing wrong with checking certain posters who provide breaking information, that for sure is the best part of the site in my opinion. But when it comes to posting your commentary and responding to liberals, I came to realize the enterprise is stupid. Maybe on a macro level it is a good thing so the majority voice can be heard. But to me, as a way to spend your personal time, it is the worst. At least here there is some form of comradeship. As for Twitter, You can only “like” Elon Musk posts so many times ‘til the entire enterprise seems futile. Posted by: Quint at November 17, 2024 04:46 AM (bduUv) 16

Hey Skip. I was very very late to join. The only one I did was Twitter/X. As I said before, it was fun during the election just to see what people were saying, but I find it weird that people post all the time there because they’re still posting the same crap they were posting 10 years years ago. In my opinion, you aren’t missing anything.

I hate "posse" in the urban-modern sense of "a group of companions, friends, and/or fellow thugs" because the original meaning had to do with local law: posse comitatus, the "power of the county." When "posse" was used in the Old West, it meant a band of citizens pursuing a lawbreaker. The modern meaning suggests the exact opposite, potential or actual lawlessness.

The shielding approach aims to reduce the number of severe COVID-19 cases by limiting contact between individuals at higher risk of developing severe disease (“high-risk” and the general population (“low-risk”. High-risk individuals would be temporarily relocated to safe or “green zones” established at the household, neighborhood, camp/sector or community level depending on the context and setting. There is a chance that the bald women in that post I linked to may in actuality have a medical condition causing the baldness.

Yep. The spiritual home of the KKK, Madison Square Garden! Guess that means the NY Rangers and Knicks are defacto KKK members.
Posted by: Puddleglum, drive by meow at November 17, 2024 06:21 AM (sAmhv) I think a more salient point is that the KKK and Nazis feel so at home in NYC that their spiritual home is in the city. That says something about the city and it's residents. They should ponder that. Posted by: I used to have a different nic at November 17, 2024 07:26 AM (ExV1e) 103

Well that's certainly disturbing output. It reminds me of the Allied Mastercomputer (AM)'s "Hate" speech from Harlan Ellison's short story, "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream." There are a few cases where running a 'dd' command with the input being /dev/zero and the output being a raw hard drive in the system is warranted. This is one of them. I'm guessing "care bravely" is a virtue signaling marketing slogan thought up by someone to slam conservatives. Illegals can flood the emergency dept for instance, because they "care bravely".

You have it exact. It's a very powerful utility with multiple uses. The one I described writes zeros to the entire drive, wiping out the master boot sector, the partition table, and all data on the entire drive. Nothing is spared. It's the 'Take off, nuke the data from orbit, it's the only way to be sure' command.
