THE MORNING RANT: Veteran’s Day Buck Shots

Operation Homecoming.JPG

A blessed Veteran’s Day to all of you who have worn the uniform, served this country, and risked your own personal safety to defend and protect this great nation. Much gratitude too to all the wives, husbands, and children who have sacrificed a normal home life while their loved ones were deployed.

You are honored and appreciated.

FEMA: Weaponized Government

There was a huge story that broke over the weekend from The Daily Wire regarding FEMA openly refusing to assist hurricane victims in Florida if they were Trump supporters. Once again, what was a “conspiracy theory” just a few weeks ago has now proven to be actual weaponization of the government against those of us on the right.

“FEMA Official Ordered Relief Workers to Skip Houses With Trump Signs”

A FEMA supervisor told workers in a message to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid, internal messages viewed by The Daily Wire reveal. The supervisor, Marn’i Washington, relayed this message both verbally and in a group chat used by the relief team, multiple government employees told The Daily Wire.

The government employees told The Daily Wire that at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were skipped from the end of October and into November due to the guidance, meaning they were not given the opportunity to qualify for FEMA assistance. Images shared with The Daily Wire show that houses were skipped over by the workers, who wrote in the government system messages such as: “Trump sign no entry per leadership.”

The good news is that this occurred in Florida, and the criminals at FEMA will have to deal with America’s Governor, Ron DeSantis.

I would like to politely counter one point that I have been reading on conservative Twitter, specifically, that this must be an organized effort within FEMA. That may not be true, which is even worse.

FEMA, like just about every other nook and cranny of the federal government, has been Obama-ized. Federal employees understand that they are deputized to advance the left’s agenda and use their government position as a weapon to target and punish conservatives. It is neither official nor written down, it is simply understood. Lois Lerner didn’t have to be instructed by Obama to use the IRS to target conservatives for harassment, and similarly, Marn’i Washington didn’t need to be told to deny FEMA services to conservatives. She knew that was her role in the politicized government apparatus, as do a great many of her colleagues and supervisors.

Marn’i Washington deserves jail time and her supervisors must be fired for creating an environment where this weaponization of government can flourish.

The whistleblowers at FEMA deserve much praise for their bravery in coming forward. Without the change in government that was voted into place last week, those whistleblowers would have likely found themselves the targets of persecution by the Obama-Biden regime.

At Harvard, November 5th Is Considered Worse Than October 7th

The very delicate and emotionally incontinent students at Harvard had their classes canceled at Harvard the day after Donald Trump’s election as President.

“Harvard Professors Cancel Classes as Students Feel Blue After Trump Win” [Harvard Crimson – 11/07/2024]

By contrast, after the October 7, 2023 mass-murder of Jews, including more than 40 Americans, classes went on as normal at Harvard.

The election of an American President who is a pro-Israel, Jewish ally is much more upsetting to the Harvard community than is the actual mass-murder of Jews.

Why would anyone hire a Harvard graduate? Why would anyone donate money to Harvard?

Speaking of which, my latest piece at The Blaze takes a look at the worsening liquidity crisis at Harvard and Columbia as repulsed donors continue to withhold contributions.

Donald Trump vs The Climate Hoax

The climate hysteria, and all of its wicked tentacles, serves as cover for the elimination of economic freedom, personal freedom, and the western standard of living.

To the great disgrace of the Republican Party, until Donald Trump came along, pretty much every Republican leader and presidential candidate had embraced the language of there being a “climate crisis” that must be addressed, albeit less radically than the Democrats propose. In effect, the establishment Republican position was “We must surrender to climate communism, but more slowly than the Democrats desire.”

God bless Donald Trump for daring to fully reject the premise of the climate hoax, and thank you to Wide Awake Media for posting this video of Donald Trump’s emphatic rejection of the hysteria:

"One of the most urgent tasks... is to decisively defeat the climate hysteria hoax."

"The radical left's fearmongering about climate and our future is... destroying America's economy, weakening our society, and eviscerating our middle class. It's really hurting us."

"We have to defeat the climate hoaxsters once and for all."

Mollie Hemingway recently pointed out that perhaps just 25% of the legacy conservative pundit class actually advocated voting for Trump. The rest of them preened about how their “conservative principles” prevented them from supporting Trump.

I can think of nothing more conservative than ending the climate hoax and stopping the globalist de-carbonization agenda, yet pretty much all of the “conservatives” at places like National Review prefer to surrender to the Democrats’ climate communism as a way of showing their principled virtuosity.

I admit to having little understanding of people giving huge amounts of money to their alma maters. In some instances I guess it's about connections, but overall why keep giving them money? You have your degree. You paid the tuition and fees. The bargained-for transaction is complete. It's like making continued monthly car payments to a lender for a car that you paid off 15 years ago.

I read him for the first time in years in The Dispatch - for some reason I was able to read his article yesterday, but it is now paywalled.

The article is called:

You Broke It, You Bought It
The consolations of a Trump victory.

and begins:

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little relieved.

Only a little, let me stress. I repeat my point from Monday, with emphasis: Reelecting Donald Trump after January 6 is the greatest dereliction of civic duty by the electorate in the history of the United States. We’ll pay for it in years to come, over and over, sometimes in grotesque ways. Without exaggeration, the country that you and I knew no longer exists.

You see, the American people are now irremediably evil. Nothing could be more evil than voting for Trump again after January 6th. They are unworthy of the Constitution.

Other Dispatch writers had some hope that Harris would win, but Allahpundit knew that Trump would win, given the inherent evilness of the American people.

But not even Allahpundit foresaw that margin by which Hitler would win.

Winning an election legitimately after, in his mind, Trump tried to usurp the presidency at the end of his previous term is an indictment of America.

The idea that 1/6 should color every American's views in the same way that it colors the chattering classes has always been so weird but completely understandable. It's this obsession with process and inside baseball, trying to push their own obsessions on the public no matter what the public wants.

It can't be that Americans preferred Trump policy to Harris policy. No, the only way to think about is that Trump proved himself personally incapable of ruling and anyone who didn't join in on the anti-1/6 crusade forcefully should also be kept from power.

At the risk of starting a big tussle, it should be pointed out that Russia's goals are not necessarily what we think Russia's goal are. Just because western generals would fight the war differently doesn't, necessarily, mean that Russia is failing.

It's possible that what Russia wants is to capture the ethnically Russian portions of Ukraine, prevent Ukraine from joining NATO, and kill as much of the opposition as possible until the opposition agrees to their terms. They're actually succeeding pretty well at that.

Vivek Ramaswamy has announced that Federal employees are going to come back to the office full time and speculates that about 25% of them will quit as a result. (Frankly, given how cushy Federal employment is, I doubt that.)

There is one Federal agency headquartered in Portland, and more than 80% of the employees at headquarters are still entirely work from home. The management has gingerly tried to get them to come into work a couple of days a week, but have been facing massive resistance.

Exactamundo. This is the point, and the core problem.

People like looking for conspiracies and, in the absence of a conspiracy, to write it off as an isolated incident. This desire is easily understood. Conspiracies are orderly, and sensible, and can be dealt with in a straightforward manner. By removing the architects of the conspiracy, the bad behavior can be curtailed and business as usual - business as expected - can resume.

But so much of what happens that is wrong and improper is not the result of a conspiracy. It doesn't need to be. When enough of the right people are in position, they don't need direction. They do what needs to be done of their own accord and volition. Nobody needs to call the shots for routine stuff. In Nazi Germany, this was "working toward the Fuhrer." Men 45-64 (X): 60-38 Trump
Men 65+: 55-44 Trump
Women 18-29 (Z): 61-37 Harris
Women 30-44 (Y): 54-43 Harris
Women 45-64 (X): 50-49 Trump

Trump told NBC News last week that's spoken with about 70 world leaders since Tuesday, but WaPo reported that his calls "are not being conducted with the support of the State Department and U.S. government interpreters." Well, good — the Swamp can't leak what it doesn't know. If State had been wired into Trump's dealings, it'd try to derail his foreign policy before he's had a chance to implement it. 144 Here's my take on the difference between Veteran's Day and Memorial Day-

Veteran's Day is a day of celebration and joy, it's a day we look around at all we have and come to appreciate those who took a rifle and faced nine barrels shooting at them that made these things possible.

Memorial Day is a day of mourning and sorrow. We look at all we have and have a sadness, maybe even resentment, that those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to make it possible are no longer here to enjoy them with us.

Today is a day of joy. Have fun. Be charitable (just know who you are being charitable to, there seems to be an inordinate number of Veteran "charities" that are much better at collecting funds than helping vets.) Celebrate with the soldier, sailor, airman, marine or guardian (why, Space Force, why?) of your acquaintance.

Years ago, when I was stationed in Monterey, the church I attended turned the sermon over to an ex-Marine who was also a member, and had served in Vietnam, on the Sunday before Memorial Day. He recounted his experiences there, and watching people die, and concluded the sermon by saying "Don't ever wish me a 'happy' Memorial Day."

I agree. Memorial Day is a day of mourning and remembrance. I would say the proper wish should be "Have a good Memorial Day" (since no one wishes another person a "bad" or "unhappy" day), or, better, "Have a Thoughtful Memorial Day" (or something along those lines).

Of the 3, I have to believe Scott understands where the populace is. Handcuffing Trump with someone who hates him seems like a bad idea.

I really like Dana Loesch, but she is pointing out problems and offering no solutions with this one- we have a lesser of 3 evils here and those seem to be beacons we need to work within on our pressure campaign. Am I missing something?

Well, there really was a constitutional question involved as Obama claimed the Senate was in recess during it's recesses but the GOP led Senate said it's pro-forma keeping the Senate "open" prevented Obama from making recess appointments.

It is of note, that the GOP maintained this stance all trough Trumps presidency, which prevented Trump from making appointments, which is why Trump is on record as saying, you humps better understand I got a mandate and I intend to use it.

Three Mile Island was a perfect example of containment working as designed, showing the China Syndrome was Hollywood bogeyman fear mongering.

Terrible. No respect for Walz either!

Weaponized government? Certainly. Even at local levels.
I wrote previously that my PA county has all houses filmed in July (Google) and they're posted on, for example, realtor sites. If one was interested in a certain property, just look it up because, at the minimum, there's a front property shot, last purchase date and cost.

However, in both 2020 and 2024 - Presidential election years - additional pictures (October) were taken and posted for homes bearing/posting 'Trump signs' and those will appear on some realtor sites, and more, for the next several years. (BTW, no, no such additional pictures of homes posting Dem/progressive signs, 2020 &/or 2024, appear to be posted anywhere.

Can only assume the intention is/was to effect purchase price if such properties go up for sale. I doubt that'd effective as we tend to own well maintained properties.

204 Jews voted 70-80% for Harris.

Caroline Glick:

t is blindingly obvious that the "exit poll" of American Jews published on Nov 5 that claimed Harris won 79% of the Jewish vote was a fabrication.
Biden split the Jewish vote like no one before him. His administration's refusal to protect American Jews from the pogroms that have been ongoing for the past year, and his administration's stunning hostility and constant gaslighting of Israel moved upwards of 40% of American Jews to vote for Trump.
The swing is unprecedented. The people bragging that 23% of black men voted for Trump are strangely ignoring the Jews.

It's one of those movies I have in a combo pack (of most of Mel Brooks' films) on Blu-ray, so an upgrade would actually just be adding a new film to the shelf.

I doubt I'll upgrade that one anytime soon.

I doubt it. I've heard of nothing about cuts. The cuts would essentially make it a television version safe for 90s broadcast, so they'd be extensive if they existed.

And, it's being released by WB who doesn't need bad press about its maltreatment of its catalogue right now and who also has shown great care in terms of preserving their library.

This is my read of the Kamala history:

Obama loved her at first and pumped her up in January 2019. He thought she was going to be his torch carrier for the future of the party.

She crashed and burned, and Obama decided that she wasn't that great.

Still, the party was behind her and used Biden's assertion of a black woman as his VP to push for her (Kamala has SF money, which is not nothing).

4 years of failure, stunk her up to everyone, including Obama, and Obama tried to completely undo the normal rules with the coupled by Pelosi (Obama just leads from behind). He wanted that "open" convention to get someone else in the position.

Kamala was smart enough to know that as sitting VP, she was the one to get Biden's spot more than anyone else, and she just made calls to make sure that happened. It was the hardest she'd worked in decades.
