A presidential election is on, and one of the candidates -- a clear dictator-to-be -- wins. So the heroes switch into an alternate timeline where their candidate, a pro-democracy professor like themselves, wins the election.

And . . . it turns out in that timeline, this professor is a worse dictator, and his goons smash the apparatus the heroes use. They can't go back. As one of them mutters, "I, a stranger and afraid . . . in a world I damned well made."

Yesterday I felt as though I were living the front half of that story.

29 Corsair: I bought a very expensive power supply from them that had a data feed back to the motherboard to relay heat information. The driver was written so poorly that it refreshed the USB bus multiple times a second making it impossible to safely eject any device plugged into the USB bus. Researched it and found out tons of other customers who bought this had the same problem. Not impressed. Workaround: Uninstall the driver, unplug the data cord, and use it as a regular power supply.

Thirteen months into its life (just past warranty) it started crowbarring (sudden power off) for no reason, multiple times a day. Replaced it with a Bronze rated 650 power supply from "Deep Cool" which has worked faithfully for me for years in the same machine. Looked into getting the Corsair power supply serviced, but the shipping costs were more than the replacement power supply. Found out this was a common problem for other customers too.

I avoid Corsair's products now.

Drop the virtue signalling and advocacy stuff completely, and fire the "woke" from your company. They're a cancer and they're destroying you from within. You don't negotiate with cancer, you excise it (or you don't survive.)

As a user, I want:
- Feature richness
- The ability to control practically everything in my browser. I'm perfectly fine if a lot of these are hidden behind "about:config" so long as I can find documentation on them. The big ones should be in the Settings UI though.
- New settings and features to be opt-in (not opt-out)
- My settings to be maintained and preserved with each upgrade. If you're going to overwrite a setting I've set that's different from the previous default, ask me with a confirmation dialog!

I stay with you now more because of the extensions/add-ons I rely on: NoScript, uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, CanvasBlocker, and Port Authority, and less because of the browser itself.

Please, just stop shooting your feet repeatedly.

Those are good extensions. Disappointed to hear Firefox keeps getting worse. I am tempted to move back to it as my primary browser, as Chrome is getting bloated, obnoxious and intrusive.

My top extension in Chrome is uMatrix, but I hear that still works in Firefox, too. The web is unusable without blocking most scripts and all ads. I don't know how other people even do it.

In 2020, the vibe was completely different; the dickweeds at Fox had preemptively called key states for Joe and only Trump himself was claiming wins in the disputed states. This year, PA has been called for Trump by everyone, and Fox has called almost all the other swing states for him; even if they somehow steal Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin (virtually impossible), Alaska will put him over the top. At this point, the non-Fox networks are just refusing to call it (1) out of spite and (2) out of fear that caling it will so demoralize the urban Democrat election workers that they don't bother to steal a few more House or Senate seats.

Of course, this is only one of MANY hurdles Trump will face in the coming days. The electors still need to meet to cast their votes and then the votes must be certified by the House.

Also, Trump still has pending legal issues, like his sentencing for his "convictions" for committing no crime.

For better or worse, I agree. The GOPe isn't going anywhere and will take another decade to purge, but the party has changed.

The Dems will be going through that now, too. Obama's destruction must now be reckoned with. The Dems still hold the permanent government and will run their playbook to contain Trump (likely fairly successfully), but the Party is going to be in civil war as of last night.
