Google Is Telling People Where to Vote for Harris -- But Won't Tell You Where to Vote For Trump

Try it yourself.

Even Variety admits this "conspiracy theory" is... true. So why is it a conspiracy theory? (Because anything the Democrats don't want to admit is a "conspiracy theory," of course.)

A new conspiracy theory has taken root on Election Day concerning search giant Google in the closely watched race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, searches on Google for "Where can I vote for Harris?" display a "Where to vote" map that lets uses enter their street address to find their polling location. However, a Google search for "Where can I vote for Trump?" does not show a similar map.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the apparent discrepancy.

Variety's spin is that the most common search inquiry is "where can I vote," not where can I vote for [specific candidate], so what's the big deal?

@FilmLadd says he doesn't think this is election interference: Just Kamala Harris paying Google to link that query to an election map, something he guesses Trump didn't do.

But if that were the case, Google would say so, wouldn't they?

I dunno. We'll see.

Update: Here's Google's fair-and-balanced election coverage, via Instapundit.

I know this is my bias showing, but after she ended the convo, she smirked and chuckled a little under her breath in a way that felt condescending. A little like "oh, you silly conservative black man." Again, my projection.

States were not following their own election rules four years ago. This year, they seem to be following their rules. IF they follow their rules and everything's fair, we will respect the results, whatever they are.

I know this is my bias showing, but after she ended the convo, she smirked and chuckled a little under her breath in a way that felt condescending. A little like "oh, you silly conservative black man." Again, my projection.

Terry Moran came on after, and could not refute Byrons' points about blacks being drawn to Trump on the economy. But he repeated the line that Trump had "disparaged" Puerto Ricans at his rally. Enough with the easily debunked lies already!

Oh yeah, the other thing about the pro-ranked-choice campaign in Alaska is that it has outspent the repeal campaign $13 million to about $120K, with most of the funds coming from outside the state.

It's nothing more than an astroturfed campaign designed to elect Dems & RINOs.

This is the ranked-choice presidential ballot in Alaska, where ranked-choice voting serves the sole purpose of ensuring Sen. Murkowski doesn’t have to face a primary, which she would LOSE. Ranked-choice is on the ballot in 6 other states. Voters should reject it.

They just import the people here form overseas.

Also, I work with several lawyers who got their legal education overseas, got a shitty LLM here, sat for the NY bar (which is absurd that NY allows this), passed, and are now lawyers.

So they get to become a lawyer with minimal student loan debt, really no understanding of our legal system, and 5 years total of education (4 year LLB + 1 year LLM).

So even this industry is not safe.

AI is coming for the US based knowledge industries and law. Probably medicine first as people drive a lot of the expense in the medical industry.

Lots of people are never going to see it coming. Journalism is simply the leading edge and I can see in the tech industry press websites, the quality is really getting degraded by hiring low cost H1Bs and AI to sorta co-compose press releases from the tech companies.

Computer tech is really hard hit. A lot of the old enthusiast blogs dating back to 90's are going dark or being consolidated. Ditto for some linux blogs.

And no, reddit is not a substitute.

I don't think LLM's are really a threat to established lawyers. They're incapable of thought.

The problem they do present is to paralegals / junior lawyers. An LLM can do a half decent job of writing a demand letter, for example. Which is normally something I'd have a paralegal draft for me.

In fact, I recently caught one of the paralegals using an LLM and I said to her "not only are you making your own job obsolete, but half the reason we have you doing things like drafting demand letters is so that you can get better at thinking through things 'like a lawyer' and realizing what is important what isn't. You're not learning that if an LLM is doing it for you."

Which is even more true of junior lawyers. That's where I see a huge issue. People will not learn those foundational skills. How can you do a good depo if you've never drafted a motion to dismiss using quotes from a depo?

232 Exactly the point I made to the Stuyvesant High mock trial team. They were all Asian girls with one Indian girl. They were asking me afterwards about the legal profession. It then came to STEM. I said it was a very hot field right now, but unlike law it can easily be farmed out overseas at a fraction of the cost. That's a consideration for going into a profession.
Posted by: Elric The Blade at November 05, 2024 03:22 PM (iFTx/)

They just import the people here form overseas.

Also, I work with several lawyers who got their legal education overseas, got a shitty LLM here, sat for the NY bar (which is absurd that NY allows this), passed, and are now lawyers.

So they get to become a lawyer with minimal student loan debt, really no understanding of our legal system, and 5 years total of education (4 year LLB + 1 year LLM).

So even this industry is not safe.

What you describe is still a lot of work and it requires foreign lawyers to actually move here. And pay USA living expenses. That's not the same as farming out work to people living overseas paying pennies on the dollar for living expenses.

255 1. This is an AI artifact, sometimes called a "hallucination" and not does represent a deliberate attempt at election manipulation. The AI model will be updated to return local results regardless of any specified candidate.
2. This is algorithmic and unexpected, resulting from the Democrats' overall high level of online engagement and digital targeting strategies. There is no malice or manipulation and the polling place data source being a left-wing organization is not problematic in the slightest because it just reflects local polling establishments as set by local governments and the pass-through data broker is irrelevant. Besides, it is known to be trustworthy.
3. This never happened
4. This is a mountain being made of a molehill and affected virtually nobody

The AI tools will get better and junior lawyers will get worse. You will soon be getting the COVID deprived but passed along cohort. Writing and analytical skills already in decline by smartphone use etc. essentially had students taking a 2-4 year holiday from any real academic work.

A tip, try to determine if an applicant was homeschooled before college. Since college grades mean less and even law school is suffering from grade inflation now (see Amy Wax for her demonstration that got her suspended eventually), home schooling at least would indicate ability and willingness to learn.

I personally know 5 or 6 people who fit that description. You wouldn't trust them to do oral arguments on something important, but they can go to PC or CC's for you.

How is "bock" beer different from regular beer?
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 05, 2024 03:38 PM (J2vNu)

more malty taste, kinda dark but not so bitter.

I used to get a dopplebock (double bock) that I liked that had a little plastic goat on every bottle.

---- A bock story -----
But what’s with all the goats? Well, bock was first brewed in the 14th century by German brewers in the town of Einbeck. By the 17th century, Munich brewers had adopted this style but due to their thick Bavarian accents, citizens of Munich pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock,” which means billy goat. And to this day, a goat often appears on the label, as a visual pun.

403 But what’s with all the goats? Well, bock was first brewed in the 14th century by German brewers in the town of Einbeck. By the 17th century, Munich brewers had adopted this style but due to their thick Bavarian accents, citizens of Munich pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock,” which means billy goat. And to this day, a goat often appears on the label, as a visual pun.

I dimly recall that the local Jax Beer offered a "bock beer" for a while in the early Sixties, with a goat or ram's head on the label. My father brought some home from time to time. Their brewery was within four blocks of where we lived, so a walk in the evening along that street provided some rich aromas.

NH was notorious for same day register/voting in the past. Bus loads of Massholes would come up over the border and participate in NH elections. They've since remedied this by invoking new election laws that DON'T go into effect until after this election. BUT, the democrats are challenging them in court at present and the basis of their argument is that the new law structure is not necessary.

So, even though the laws are not yet in effect, they have to behave or they sink their own law suit by having proof come to life of why the laws were changed. AND, I can assure you that each and every precinct is being evaluated with a fine toothed comb today...especially in Nashua (which sits near the southern border of the state).

DeKalb is bifurcated, the southern part is heavily black and relatively poorer than the northern half. The northern half is party central for AWFLs and centered around Emory, Oglethorpe, and CDC campuses with a lot of government/education workers.

Fulton, by comparison, due to the northern part of it (former Milton County) is actually a bit more Republican I think.

Not many. This almost certainly *is* a corner-case issue. But it means one of two things, because automatic logic in the search engine should round off the statement to "where do I vote" regardless of the inclusion of a specific candidate's name. It means either:
1. Google wrote in special handling to drive up returns for Harris
2. Google wrote in special handling to drive down returns for Trump

However you slice it, Google is a malicious operator.

Let me first say that I don't believe this. New Hampshire's gone blue too long for me to think this will happen unless it's a national landslide for Trump. The turnout is there. Ayotte is up noticeably. NH isn't a slam dunk for the Dems, I think it is going to be very close. Sununu (outgoing Rep Gov) and Ayotte aren't Trump fans. But Ayotte would be a continuation of Sununu which is about as good as a republican can get in New England. NH took away the voter's ability to vote straight ticket so we'll see interesting results.

"Joe Biden was the subject of a media hit mob led by Fox News that created a bad environment for all Democrats. Biden understood his limitations personally, decided to step aside and give the shot to the best person to make it up, but Kamala's bad luck was just too great. The media simply allowed Trump too much free air time so that Kamala couldn't get her positive message out. The only thing that can happen now is for Trump to push a message of unity and replace Vance with Kamala as his Vice President."

561 > I just had the best steak I've eaten in years

Bonhomme's tips for a perfect steak:
Start with a never-frozen high quality cut. I like NY Strips and Ribeyes.
Take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before you cook it.
Season both sides heavily with salt and pepper and a thin coat of garlic powder
Heat up a cast iron skillet to smoking on a grill on high; 10-15 minutes
Just before you put the steak in the skillet, throw in a knob of butter and aromatics of choice
Sear the fat strap, then both sides, scooping butter over the steak. Maybe one minute for each.
Throw the steak into a pre-heated smoker or oven with a meat thermometer inserted in the steak. I like 220 for a smoker or 275 for the oven.
Heat to just under your desired temp. I prefer about 132F.
Let the steak rest for about four minutes, wrapped in tinfoil.

Cut across the grain.

Eat immediately.

One of the top issues she says is pushing indigenous people to the polls today: climate change. How on earth is their tribal sovereignty threatened this election, and a top issue? did Andrew Jackson rise from the dead when I wasn't looking?

That is about right for 'change' elections.

The incumbent party has to defend its record. If it is poor, that causes weaker independent leaners of that party to stay home but engages the leaners on the other side to vote to get rid of those policies.

Proportion of leaners vary in every state which is why you get red and blue states but incompetence in governance means red states get Dem statewide officeholders now and again and at least aside from cheat by mail states, like NE, you get GOP governors like Baker, Sununu, or the dude in Vermont.
