Megyn Kelly Will Lead Trump's Rally Tonight in Pittsburg

Trump will actually make his last campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is where he closed his 2016 and 2020 campaigns.

So I guess this is the next-to-last stop.

The New York Times threw a small scare into me over the weekend, showing Harris ahead in some of the battleground states (with Trump leading in others).

But as Katie Pavlich notes, the NYT pretty much admits they don't trust their own poll.

The New York Times published their final 2024 presidential election poll on Sunday, just two days ahead of Election Day November 5.

"Kamala Harris and Donald J. Trump stayed deadlocked to the finish in the final New York Times/Siena College polls of the 2024 presidential election, though there may be a hint she has ticked up in the final stretch," the New York Times reports. "The race remains essentially even across the seven states likeliest to decide the presidency."

The results show Harris ahead, but there's a big catch: the poll is probably wrong.

"Across these final polls, white Democrats were 16 percent likelier to respond than white Republicans. That's a larger disparity than our earlier polls this year, and it's not much better than our final polls in 2020 -- even with the pandemic over. It raises the possibility that the polls could underestimate Mr. Trump yet again," the NYT concedes.

The Times also has little confidence in its claims that "late deciders are breaking for Harris:"

"A word of caution: Hypothetically, many of these 'late deciders' might have told a pollster earlier that they were Harris voters -- if only we had called them at the time and asked them to formulate an opinion they hadn't yet made. As a result, the responses to this question don't necessarily explain the shift in the polls -- even if they do align with the trend in this case."

Also over the weekend: The Selzer poll made the preposterous claim that Harris was suddenly up in Iowa -- a traditionally solid-red state that no one else even has as a battleground.

Duane Patterson notes there are reasons to consider this poll pure dumpster trash.

Kamala hasn't set foot in that state as a presidential candidate since dropping out of the 2020 Democratic primary before the Iowa Caucus took place. Iowa voted for Donald Trump over Joe Biden in 2020, 53.1% to 44.9%, an 8.2% spread. The ideological makeup of Hawkeye voters was R+8.

There were two polls released on Saturday. The first, by Emerson, showed Donald Trump increasing his margin in Iowa over Kamala Harris, surging to a 10.5% lead. An hour later, Ann Selzer reported a survey that Kamala Harris is up 3. That's a 13.5% spread between two polls in the same day. Suffice it to say, one of them is way off.

Emerson disclosed their sample size and makeup, and it reflects close to what the state was in 2020. Selzer's data, on a whole host of subgroups, is a tad off of that.

...

Her poll was leaked to lefty pundits and the Harris campaign three days before dropping. They knew it was coming, and yet Harris, if Iowa is truly in play, didn't divert and make a play to finish Donald Trump off once and for all by boosting her lead outside the margin of error. You have to ask yourself why they wouldn't react and put any resources there at all. Joe Biden is available. The Clintons are available. Gwen Walz, and her hand mixer, are available. And Mark Cuban's dance card suddenly has freed up for some reason. Of course, if Harris were to win Iowa, Trump winning Pennsylvania wouldn't matter if Harris holds onto Michigan and Wisconsin. The reason Harris hasn't scheduled any event in the closing 48 hours in Iowa is because nobody outside of those suffering chronic anti-Trump fevers, believe Iowa has suddenly moved 11 points to the left in the last month.

John Fund calls this poll a "dud outlier." This same poll shows a comfortably-leading Republican incumbent House member suddenly losing by... 16 points!?

Uh, no:

The [Des Moines, I think] Register reports: "Now, voters prefer a Democratic candidate by a 16-point margin in the 1st District, where Democrat Christina Bohannan, a law professor and former state representative, is in a rematch with Republican U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who is seeking her third term."

Miller-Meeks first won her seat with 50.1 percent in 2020, but then defeated Bohannan in 2022 by nearly seven percentage points. It is highly unusual for a non-scandal-ridden incumbent to lose a House seat by 16 points. In the 2022 general election, only nine House incumbents lost.

The RCP average shows Trump leading (if only by a little) in all seven of the battleground states -- and just behind in the newly-added swing states of Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Virginia.

Note that Iowa is only included in this list of "toss-ups" because of that preposterous Selzer poll.

Update: Jay from PA says the People's Pundit is calling BS on this poll, basically saying it's a deliberate political stunt:

0 From the People's Pundit:

"I knew about the Selzer poll on Friday... Everybody wondered how I knew... They thought I was lying... I'm going to tell you how I knew..."

"Because somebody who was very upset that Ann was calling, laughing hysterically talking with our surrogates talking about what she was going to do... 'I'm gonna drop a bomb in this SOBs lap'... they got so mad they called me."

Emerson's final polling shows Trump likely to win with 281 electoral votes. I think if he wins, we're going to 312, 322. Whatever gets the job done.

Some perspective on NV early voting numbers.

At this point in 2020, 447,026 Ds had voted. 400,403 Rs has voted. Ds +46,623.

Today, 362,424 Ds have voted. 405,602 Rs have voted. Rs +43,178.

That’s a ~90K vote swing to Rs.

--------

Remember: the story of this cycle, including in vote by mail states like NV (the send ballots to every voter, but in person is still an option), is that Republicans are about even with 2020 and Democrats are massively down.

There's no, "They'll turn up on election day, they're just holding out to release their collective sexual energy for Kamala at the last day," if the state has a long (very long) history of early voting and mail in ballots were sent to every voter.

Democrats just aren't showing up at 2020 levels. Republicans are.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, finding suspense, madness, and humanity with Michael Powell at November 04, 2024 04:16 PM (GBKbO)

I think I agree with you. My point is that it seems statistically odd that pretty much every national poll agrees that the candidates are tied (or within a point or two of each other).

Even if it's true that the country is split exactly 50/50, we would expect to see some random "Harris +7" or "Trump +6" polls.

We'd expect to see even more statistical noise at the state levels. Fewer people, smaller samples, etc.

But those, at least in the swing states, also appear to be using some "blending" or "smoothing" to make sure they all land around 50/50.

The practice is called herding.

All pollsters move towards a similar result. Any outliers becomes instantly dismissed because they disagree with the conventional wisdom.

If polling were actually statistically relevant, we would see truly random outliers. Instead, we get narrative puffery from Democrats and media and attempts to massage to a potential reality from the "Republican-leaning" pollsters.

It's all nonsense.

136 I took one for the team, and looked at Reddit threads about how the left feels about Ana Kasparian. The majority felt she was never a "real" leftist (hah!), just a phony grifter who was jealous of Dave Rubin's conservative grift (gay guy who fled the young Turks years ago) now wants to get in on that sweet, sweet conservative grift action.

I think Ana is the real deal on her conversion, but I'll admit, there is a grifter vibe within true blue conservatives and once liberal defectors to the conservative movement. Their anti-establishment media populism mixes in a weird way with good old fashioned capitalism. (That was also true in the neo-con era.) Rush managed it well, he was the king.

People like Rubin, Megyn, Tucker, Candice Owens, Ben Shapiro, Crowder, Quartering, Brett Cooper, Dinesh, Beck, Brandon Straka, Scott Pressler, Matt Walsh, Jordan Peterson... I appreciate them all being on the team, but how much is real and how much is a grifter act? It'll just take time to sift out. But grift or not, I'll take their voices if it gets Trump reelected.

Which, not to derail, is itself asinine. What the fuck is the point if it's automatic? The whole reason to even need certification is for someone to be able to say "No, this is not kosher, step back and look at this hinky shit a little closer before we blindly sign off on this massively important thing."

I want MORE opportunities for that to happen, not fewer.

149 Past 100 comments, so i am going ahead and posting this now:

We went to see the surgical oncologist today, and he was very encouraging. While the type of cancer is what I had been dreading (Cholangiocarcinoma/ Bile Duct Cancer), he thinks this is very treatable, and we can have most of my treatments done here in Fort Worth, just a mile from our house.

He did say that MD Anderson would be doing the very same things for treatment that they will be doing here in North Texas, so we are canceling everything down there for now. It sounds like this doctor actually deals with more of this type of cancer than they do down in Houston.

I have a televisit scheduled tomorrow, a CT Scan scheduled on Wednesday, and a visit with an oncologist in Fort Worth on Thursday. After my televisit tomorrow, I will be scheduled for a liver biopsy sometime in the next week or two.

I will be doing chemotherapy for 3 months in order to shrink the tumor ( no hair loss!!!!!), then the doctor will be operating to remove the remainder of the tumor. After that, I will be getting scans to monitor the site.

He isn't talking long-term survival until we know what we are looking at, but he did seem optimistic ab

As of right now, RCP has the popular vote at a 48.5 / 48.5 split. Exactly tied.

What are the chances that that is the actual outcome? I'd say close to zero.

So according to the aggregate of all major polls, the outcome is "it's a coin toss."

We'll see how that holds up.

I do wish someone, anyone, would bring up the bold lie of women not getting treated in some states, left to bleed to death, because of their battle cry of abortion. A LIE. EMTALA LAW. Abortion. Abortion. It is all they have. Feminist bullshit. Vote for this one thing and all will be well.

Oh, it's more about saving their reputations.

No matter what anyone tells you, the polls were fucking garbage in 2020. The polling industry even released statements and had meetings about how they had failed, but the commentariat forgot because they got it "right" by predicting a Biden victory, despite being way off on the actual numbers.

Now, they know that they haven't fixed squat, that Republican men are not answering their polls nearly enough to create good samples, and they're trying to hedge by just throwing everything as tossups.

If a race ends up 53-47 but they predicted 50-50, then it's within their margin of error and they're not wrong. That's the point of all these 50-50 polls.

In part, "As Election Day is just days away, Washington, D.C., Michigan, Georgia and other states around the U.S. are ramping up security, as massive protests are expected no matter who wins.

In the deep-blue cities of Philadelphia, Atlanta and Detroit, security measures are taking place to keep election officials safe. In Detroit and Atlanta, some campaign offices have installed bullet-proof glass protecting election offices. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a warehouse that counts ballots has fencing around it topped with barbed wire, according to Reuters."

213 I think public polling should be considered in-kind contributions to campaigns and firms that do them should be fined $10 million for every 0.1% they're off from the actual result of each data point.

I mean, they sell themselves as accurate, right? They'll be willing to stand behind their work like that, right?

And I don't mean their final polls. I mean every poll.

I'd be disappointed if they didn't, but this is probably the wrong way to look at it. What they do is employ that data to shift public opinion to achieve the result within the 1/10 of a percent of their target.

We will see this year just how much they can cause such an effect with the seemingly historic enthusiasm gap.

It was probably over before the first debate. The debate gave the internal powers an excuse to push Biden out. The assassination attempt probably invigorated the rurals of America in a way that no one will ever be able to replicate, and the replacement of Biden with Kamala probably had a good deal to do with the depressed D turnout we can see in early voting.

Everything since the debate has just made the Democrat situation worse.

283 It was probably over before the first debate.

Kamala looks to have the cheat. Typically women have already EV or absentee. Election Day has been more male in turnout since forever.

That is why the last ditch celebutard rush is that the pool of Dem voters not turning out are the 18-29 year olds so far and they tend to skew 2:1 Dem in the past two or three elections. As of today, they are at about 9 percent of the EV and absentee submitted ballots. That puts their turnout more at a midterm than a general election level and well below 2020 when allegedly they had historic 50 percent turnout (mainly EV and absentee)

I'm no statistics nerd, but with this large number of polls, we should expect to see a lot of statistical noise. Some "outlier" polls showing Trump +1 in New Jersey or whatever. That's kind of the nature of random statistical samples.

Instead, we don't see a lot of that at all. Which is odd.

I wonder if they will throw Eloon under the bus. His ground game operation has not delivered. Kamala has conducted a master class. Extremely disciplined. The “press” tried to knock her off her game a few times, and they couldn’t.

355 The practice is called herding.

It's the same issue with the "GLOBAL WARMING" "CLIMATE CHANGE" people.

They massage the data. It's never just the data, it's the data adjusted to "match reality".

But it doesn't. It matches their imaginings. It's "modeling".

So it's all wrong.

Start with a couple false premises about the world and humanity. Lazily jump from one statement to another without worrying about any kind of laws of inference. That's how I understand it, anyway. I'm no expert - ask Dave in Fla if you want actual intelligent answers - but I did major in Communication back in the last millennium and had to take Statistics and Polling. As I recall, the professor spent basically the whole time showing us the various ways a poll could be completely, totally, pants-on-head insanely wrong. He didn't spend much time showing us how to make them consistently accurate, because as he explained it, that would require magic fairy dust.

Basically, we were taught to make it as honest as we could and be open with our methodology, demographic info, exact phrasing of questions, etc. so that others might be able to make a fair interpretation from the raw data. I think the MFM must have skipped class that day.

This is a state where absentee ballots were sent to all registered voters I think.

Nevada from SoS office,
Total Early Votes: 1,077,285
In-Person Early Votes: 542,941
Mail Ballots Returned: 534,344

Mail Ballots Requested: 1,975,090

Clark County (Las Vegas) has returned 34 percent of mailed ballots to Registered Dems.

About one million mail in ballots are floating around unreturned. I think if you vote early in person or via Election Day, that the absentee ballot is supposed to be spoiled with no additional voting.

But Lombardi beat the cheat in 2022 to win the governor's race so who knows.

No tax on tips and SS will also be popular in NV for Trump.

458 I think, as others above have said regarding polls, everyone is herding.

One of the Nates, Cohn or Silver - paraphrasing that's the odds of all these polls showing the same is like 1 in 9 Trillion.

Take 10 firms who poll every two weeks in 7 battle ground state, that's 70 total polls. Let's use the last e so there's 210 polls. Each have a sample size of 1000. That's 210K people total.

The odds that these 10 pollsters have gotten consistently the exact same results is not really possible. Unless they "manage" their data and assumptions.

Bottom line is either everyone is right or everyone is wrong. "Hey, don't look at me. 9 other firms were just as wrong. (or right) "

Thus, 1 in 9 Trillion of a chance. They're CYAing.

EV and absentee returned shows GOP voters voting at 2020 or slightly under pace. Dem absentee ballots and EV has fallen off a cliff. That means the unlikely surge at the polls, substantial party defections from the GOP side and an indy swing to Kamala. That could happen but not likely at this stage.

The other is the cheat but not under the cover of Covid, RNC surrender, and a cloud of plausible absentee ballots, but in broad daylight while being naked and dancing on the stage.

Another day and another tiresome Dem op for the cause. This is what a party that has effectively exhausted its brain looks like. A tattered toothless old whore with nasty STD evidence and meth mouth.

484 482 Ralston just trying to keep his leftist bona fides.

He essentially is going against everything he has posted in the last week.

I posted above the figures from NV SoS today. You can get them at Univ of Florida Election Lab website that takes you to each SoS office. The NBC model did not have NV data for 2024 but did for 2020.

485 I am just me but I can tell you I haven't responded to any poll attempt since at least 2020. Zero trust in accuracy attempts by any pollster. All part of an op. Why help?

486 Sure, some of them are genetically predisposed to be Marxist/Democrat and money isn't an incentive. But you can be as certain as night follows day that the vast majority are incentivized by self and any reward that may come from that. Getting paid for an appearance - on greenscreen or live, anywhere - is a business transaction.

The most clever will do one, then fly over and do Trump's as well.

487 So what does it get her, or anyone else? All she's done is called a store and asked if they had Prince Albert in a Can, or "Are you Dunn?"

A preteen prank. Who cares?

Destroys credibility in the future. YOLO only works if you plan on retiring. If you took a payoff to do it, big trouble for her and Gannett.

I used to have chats with polltakers about any vagueness in the questions. Hope they aren't paid by the call instead of the hour.

489 Yudhishthira's Dice: "Will Ferrell berating 'Gary' to vote, or else. Ok. Go with that..."

I know, right? Uber Professional Clown gets serious.

Hey, Clown? Pound sand. You're a clown! No amount of tossing your nose away is going to work.

490 Oldcat: "The most clever will do one, then fly over and do Trump's as well."

That applies most exclusively to the MFM more than extended Hollywood.

For some measure of "clever". They're mostly "soulless".

491 Yes, I love that Vance is a convert too. Also me, I voted for Trump in 2026 with great trepidation, and he performed magnificently.

492 I haven't read any of the other comments, but just in case no one else has called you out on this - PittsburgH, PA, unlike Pittsbug, KS, Pittsburg, CA, and 15 other cities in the USA, is spelled with an "h" on the end.
I'm not the only person gonna give younze shit about this.

We haven't there in more than a half-century, but still have passel of cuzes there.
