31 That girl hunter is going to have to pay for the cow. Not sure, but how much is a cow worth? I think dairy cows are pretty expensive because they are an ongoing source of income. Boy cows, the cost may depend on their weight. When I was in 4H the kids who raised cows auctioned them at the end of fair week, and they got quite a bit. They considered it college fund money.

I don't know what the answer to this ridiculousness is. Perhaps people need to start suing for 7 and 8 figure amounts - like Trump is doing.

And if it comes down that they are 'immune' - well that's a problem that needs to be rectified too so these clowns can be held accountable.

They do this stuff because they CAN not because they should. There's a difference. We need to make it clear that this is not a proper use of our tax dollars.

Tomorrow's All Souls' Day.

Back when I was altar boy, I had the 7 a.m. Saturday Mass on 11/2, not realizing the day. So I get to Church about 6:30 to get ready and Mass is already going on. The priest sees me, gives me a nod to get changed and come out. I come out just as he's giving communiion. When the Mass was over, the priest asked what plans I had. I said none, really. He then told me he had to do 3 Masses, and 'I'm it'. So I did two more Masses with him. The next priest who came in to do his 3 saw me and said, 'You're not leaving'. So I did another 3 Masses. When I got home, I had a story for my Mom who wondered where the hell I was. Mass was only about 1 and 1/2 hours, with prep and cleanup. I was at the Church for about 4 hours, being the altar boy for 5 and 1/2 Masses. I don't know if that's a record but it should be.

I've seen this come up in various forums I'm in. I've told NY voters they need to go call the governor's office and demand she fire the guy that heads up this department and demand the candidates running for State/House races answer whether they will fire the guy.

And...again...as with many people in the northeast they just can't put together that who they vote for leads to these policies. Would Zeldin have picked a different head for the department? I don't know. But if NY had elected Zeldins for the last 20 years I guarantee NYS wouldn't be doing this crap.

I know that is not the case, but I think it could be accomplished more readily than making public officials directly liable in lawsuits against the State. And there are instances where some goof will sue the State for frivolous reasons, too, and win, because the jury thinks "not my money".

Plenty for people of faith.

For the rest of us, other reasons. I've been 29 for quite some time, and I live in the middle of nowhere. No matter how bad things get, it will be a while, quite a while, before the first tendrils reach here. It's conceivable that, should the long march remain a relatively slow and stately one, that I might possibly be able to live a normal lifespan and shuffle off this mortal coil before the insanity comes for me in person.

So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I have been trying for years to increase the quail and pheasant populations at my farm, with little success.

Then I started seeing bobcat tracks and scratch logs, and finally caught one on a game camera.

At the same time, I used to see 40 "barn cats" on my nearest neighbor's porch and property. (Which means he probably had 60-80.)

Over the next year, all of the barn cats disappeared. I do not know if the bobcats considered them to be competitors, or if they were just an easy meal.

However, if you let bobcats overpopulate, then you are going to have a lot of cats and small dogs disappear from the "city" folks. If you let mountain lions overpopulate, then you will even lose some children.

P.S. My quail and pheasant populations are increasing. Apparently, one family of bobcats does much less damage than 60 feral cats.

Thanks to everyone for helping me with the cats. Trumpy, the day after being fixed is doing well. He has a cone. He's an outdoor cat who has only stayed in at most 14 hours or so with me. But he's staying by the house and on the porch on the towel I have there.

I dressed warmly, and spent a couple of hours in the shop, and managed to get the transfer case out of the crippled Suburban, which was tricky, because the front drive shaft is securely stuck in its splined socket. Will likely use penetrating oil, heat, and a bigger hammer to try and budge it.

And the T-case will not mate up to the 4L80E transmission I was planning to use, so on to Plan B: rebuild the pooched 4L60E. Parts are ordered.

But every time I've looked at the grammatical side of the matter, it doesn't really change the way the word is translated, with or without the "los." So, what does one go with? Me, I'm rather impressed that Pan de Muerto is a common and tasty dish during the celebration. "Bread of the Dead" is the most Metal-sounding non-Metal name one could contemplate.

But, the most awesome item they saw was screens in the windows. They asked what they were used for. I explained to them it lets fresh air in while keeping out flies and bugs. If it's the Fincher project, then I can definitely see the need to warn people away from it. The 2024 remake by Woo, likewise. But John Woo's original 1989 "The Killer" is a thing of beauty that bought him his ticket to Hollywood from the world of Hong Kong cinema. It's inspired by that one French movie that people who hate French movies actually enjoy, Jea-Pierre Melville's Le Samouraï. That last one had the Froggy master of on-screen coolness, Alain Delon, and Woo found a worthy counterpart for him in Chow Yun Fat.

I liked Twitter 2012-2020. I was banned almost exactly four years ago for “disinformation” for sharing the Hunter Biden laptop story.

I checked it out again after Musk bought it and freed everyone and it seemed to regain some of its old charm.

The media is so full of it, though. Twitter always had Nazis, commies, pedos, furries, lunatics and terrorist stans. June Meyer has the best down-home recipes.

I also recommend George Lang's book on Hungarian food. It has a lot of recipes, but also explains a lot about culture, wealth (or lack thereof) and social changes. It is something like an anthropologist's analysis of cuisine. Lang was a very succesful restaurateur himself, and he understood things.

Since I've been taking care of the cats, the dog Ralphy loves their food, which apparently is not the best for him. I'm putting the cat food on chairs and my bed out of reach.

But there are so many things going on, he gets lucky.

And the cats LOVE his canned salmon food, about $5 a can. Which Ralphy, an older dog, is sometimes indifferent. It's salmon, but for dogs but I do let the cats have a few bites.

Ralphy is a huge fan of the bowl of water I have in my bedroom for the cats. He doesn't have to go downstairs. He LOVES that.

507 I just wrapped up hearing Joe Bonamassa's band in Tucson. That band is spectacular - everyone is a virtuoso and all that gets subsumed into playing as a band. Another slice at this ensemble is it is a musicians band that lets the their pinnacle craftsmanship do the talking. And Mr. Bonamassa is just sublime. I've been going to see this fan now for 15 years and this version of it is probably the best I've ever heard. If you've never seen Joe bonamassa's man, you really must go. You won't be disappointed.

Cats.. meh. I had one old cat that loved raisins. Like, climb my leg and squall until I gave her one or two. Years later, I read that raisins were "bad" for cats, but don't know why exactly. Didn't seem to hurt my cat, but of course she didn't get them very often.

I don’t think it will be necessary. The court cases will be used to pressure Trump to call it quits after Kamala is declared the winner. (This is the real reason the cases have mostly been delayed until after the election.)

And he’s done more than enough. He doesn’t owe us anything else, so he should take the deal and let someone else take over MAGA.

Imprisoning Trump would be very provocative with no real payoff. It’s better for the uniparty for him to call it quits and ride off into the sunset. They don’t need a martyr.

What did they think would happen? Psycho monster murdered his own mother and brother, spent 2/3rds of his life in prison around other psychos, did they think he was going to be an upstanding citizen?

One argument for the death penalty is it prevents idiot judges, parole boards and voters from releasing violent criminals decades later. Even if every killer got life in prison, that’s no guarantee they will serve that sentence.

Our society is run by over-socialized bleeding hearts who can let these thugs lose at any time because they saw a Netflix special that humanized them. (See also: the Menendez brothers, who will kill again if released.)
