How much did she get paid to come up with that? Orson, I had a medical test done at 2 P.M. I wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink from the previous midnight. If I don't have coffee by 10:30 in the morning, I get a headache. So, I spent the few weeks before the med. test weaning myself off. Each day I would have my cup of coffee about 15 minutes later until I could go until 2 PM without a headache. Posted by: nerdygirl at November 04, 2024 10:10 PM (0Htd1) 103

Reposting from earlier today:
We went to see the surgical oncologist today, and he was very encouraging. While the type of cancer is what I had been dreading (Cholangiocarcinoma/ Bile Duct Cancer), he thinks this is very treatable, and we can have most of my treatments done here in Fort Worth, just a mile from our house. He did say that MD Anderson would be doing the very same things for treatment that they will be doing here in North Texas, so we are canceling everything down there for now. It sounds like this doctor actually deals with more of this type of cancer than they do down in Houston. I have a televisit scheduled tomorrow, a CT Scan scheduled on Wednesday, and a visit with an oncologist in Fort Worth on Thursday. After my televisit tomorrow, I will be scheduled for a liver biopsy sometime in the next week or two. I will be doing chemotherapy for 3 months in order to shrink the tumor ( no hair loss!!!!!), then the doctor will be operating to remove the remainder of the tumor. After that, I will be getting scans to monitor the site. (cont) Posted by: Teresa in Fort Worth, Texas, Plucky Comic Relief, Ace of Spades Ladies Brigade at November 04, 2024 10:14 PM (SRRAx) 120

The hilarious part is that radicals devised a new, enormously complicated, voting system for Portland city council, explicitly designed to elect more radicals. That final photograph is from an early twentieth century rite of passage for German children. Its roots go further back then that, mind you, and it is still observed at the present day. It is called Die Demütigung, Unterwerfung und das Abschlachten der Bären mit einem Taschenmessernd. I know the meaning is obvious to most, if not all, of you, but the literal translation is "The humbling, subjugation, and the slaughter of the bears with a pocketknife."
Since the Medieval Era, scores of German children have taken part in this most meaningful and merry of events. As the photo indicates, there has been one change made, out of a sense of compassion and mercy. That is, humans in not-quite-convincing bear costumes have replaced the actual bruins. Think about it - Deutschland's population numbers in the millions, whereas the European bear population is in severe decline. The rest of the rite of passage continues as usual, of course. Right after that photo, the girl would have gone Medieval on both those individuals with her pocketknife, and much would be the blood and the entrails spilled. The child would be cheered, and celebrations would go on until the rising of the sun. There is a political realignment going on in the country. Old coalitions are breaking down and new ones are forming. The Republican Party is now the party of the working man and woman and Democrats are the party of big business and Wall Street. We are the "radicals" fighting against a corrupt government. The old rules about rightwing/leftwing don't really apply anymore. You are either a supporter of the party of big, corrupt government or you are a supporter of free people living in a free country. My brain made me calculate the needed drone thrust/weight to get to 125mph in 1 sec.
Thrust/Weight*g(m/s^2)*1(s) would give you velocity in m/s then *2.236936 for mph Solving for T/W = 125/9.81/2.236936 = 5.7 to get to 125mph in 1 sec which is high for a drone T/W. The internet says it typically ranges from 3:5 A T/W of 5 would give you 110mph in 1 sec which is still fast. Posted by: banana Dream at November 04, 2024 10:40 PM (Y6IkP) 225

Philadelphia City Commissioners' Office Tells O'Keefe Non-Citizens Can Vote as Long as They Are Philadelphia Residents In a recent conversation with an undercover O’Keefe Media Group journalist, Milton Jamerson, Election And Voter Registration Clerk from the Philadelphia City Commissioners Office, stated that non-citizens can vote in local elections as long as they are residents of Philadelphia. This claim is echoed by the nongovernmental organization (NGO) “Ceiba,” (@CeibaPhiladelp1) located just across the street, which asserts that individuals with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) are eligible to vote. An ITIN is a 9-digit number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to individuals who are required to file a tax return but do not qualify for a Social Security number. While the ITIN serves as a means for tax reporting for those who are not U.S. citizens, possessing an ITIN does not equate to legal voting rights, raising questions about Ceiba's claim that ITIN's deem individuals eligible for participation in the electoral process. https://is.gd/u3ux5W 2:09 minutes Posted by: andycanuck (hovnC) at November 04, 2024 10:44 PM (hovnC) 234

Please BELIEVE you are going to beat this to smithereens. With every treatment, believe it is working better and better. I know this is weird to compare, and forgive this stranger for my blather...but visualize these bad cells vaporizing into nothing each and every time. When my sons, bless their hearts for surviving with me as their mother, had super high fevers, this is what I told them. While I had a cold compress to their sweet foreheads, and had given them meds, I told them to visualize the virus being absorbed by Pac Man. If nothing else, they went to sleep to escape me. So this is similar to what you need to think. Believe. I believe you will beat this and you sound strong with a great team. Go get 'em and be cancer free... btw...that little Grimms tale about the two lesbians wrestling each other in the dirt. Psssst...you posted that last week. Only, the source you used didn't mention it was an all woman event.
I remember this because I was curious what the woman looked like (purely scientific research you understand) and I found the event on Smoking Gun with the photos you linked to. Someone on here asked me what I found and I had to admit that the white chick was listed at 45 but looked closer to 70 in a hit by lightning while gobbling meth sort of way. I wasn't convince the black participant was a female despite their assurances. I lean towards that being someone playing dress up. I promised myself I wouldn't go back and confirm my initial evaluation...AND THEN YOU FREAKIN POST IT AGAIN. Bastard. Posted by: Orson at November 04, 2024 10:53 PM (dIske) 258

I’m hitting the rack. Nothing more I can do for today. Tomorrow morning I may drag my sorry ass to the kitchen, make tea and toast for Mrs. E, coffee for me, and go back to bed with cats for 30 minutes. Then up and make grits, GOD’s gift to the South. Roll up my sleeves and summon up votes for the next President, Donald J. Trump. Hard work, but hey, not like I was carving the Pieta, yo.

Aunty Kitty @wake_up_girl_3 Please hear what I’m about to say. I just had a lady in the dairy isle start crying because she is so fearful of Trump losing. She said our country is already lost I don’t know what I will do if he loses. She is absolutely terrified. I rubbed her arm and told her it’s going to be ok and we will get through it together. She was an older woman early 70’s. We exchanged numbers and I told her I will check on her tomorrow. This is real folks, people are truly scared of what happens if Kamala steals this election. And, frankly, this kind of proves my point, since Twitter is now widely seen as part of the right-wing media ghetto. If Rogan wanted to endorse Trump, the time was last week. Apparently he thinks this is our last election if the cackler wins, but it wasn’t worth the effort to endorse Trump when it would have made a bigger impact? Or was he just hoping he’d get Kamala on his show? Oh, you should ask ace if there’s a right-wing media ghetto. Ask him how easy it is to get ads. Modest progress on the Suburban transmission saga. Got the transmission off its lofty perch on a milk crate atop a barrel on the cart, lowered it onto the cart platform, and trundled it outside. With the torque converter removed, it is not too heavy, and I was able to lift it by hand onto another barrel, and thoroughly wash its exterior with the solvent that dare not speak its name.
Next, I will throw it in the back of a vehicle, drive it to the car wash, spray it down with engine degreaser, and hose it off with hot soapy water. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 04, 2024 11:07 PM (3lNJp) 283

An ancient Indian weapon adopted by Sikhs as part of their standard battle gear, the Chakkar quoit is unlike any other bladed weapons. It is a steel throwing ring with a razor sharp knife edge. Sikhs would carry a number of these of various diameters around their necks or in their turbans. ===== The chakram (Sanskrit: cakra, cakram; Punjabi: cakkra, cakkram) is a throwing weapon from the Indian subcontinent. It is circular with a sharpened outer edge and a diameter of 12–30 centimetres (4+1⁄2–12 inches). It is also known as chalikar[1] meaning "circle", and was sometimes referred to in English writings as a "war-quoit". The chakram is primarily a throwing weapon, but can also be used hand-to-hand. A smaller variant called chakri is worn on the wrist. A related weapon is the chakri dong, a bamboo staff with a chakri attached at one end. The reason is probably retarded.
1. You have to hire a lawyer to defend yourself. 2. Not only do you get a DUI on your record but the judge gets to label you a drug abuser, and send you to rehab. 3. The police can turn you into a snitch to bust your dealer. 4. They get federal dollars for fighting the war on drugs 5. Basically they get to push you around like you're a criminal, and the cops can charge you with resisting arrest if you call them idiots. Then they get to taser your ass, and say the resulting convulsions are more resisting, resulting in an additional taser blast every time you twitch. In other words its a win/win for the state. Memoir of the War in India, William Thorn, 1806 Besides the matchlock, spear, the scimitar, which are all excellent in their kinds, some of the Seiks are armed with a very singular weapon, which they use with great and destructive effect against cavalry. It consists of a hollow circle, made of finely tempered steel, with an exceedingly sharp edge, about a foot in diameter, and and inch in breadth on the inner side. This instrument the horseman poises on his fore-finger, and after giving it two or three swift motions, to accelerate its velocity, sends it from him to the distance of some hundreds of yards, the ring cutting and maiming, most dreadfully, every living object that may chance to be in its way. ==== That's how they were thrown contrasted with using them as a slashing weapon. AOP, you should be getting some sort of tax notification of your wtihholding or income from the US fund.
Otherwise if you haven't had the ITIN on any tax return for five years, it will have expired. I am going to guess you will have to send a letter to the IRS to ask what your ITIN is or was. all of this is per the IRS website Posted by: Kindltot at November 04, 2024 11:51 PM (D7oie) It's all rolled into my holdings in my RRIF (registered retirement income fund), comparable to the IRA in the States. "Compete in a saturated market" isn't his business plan.
Or anyone's business plan, if they're smart. Electric cars when they're the new hotness. Space flight when NASA is sucking hind teat. Tiny satellites giving the whole world wi-fi. Mars colonies. That's Musk stuff. If he did the phone thing, it would be the same as the X/Twitter thing. A calculated business loss in pursuit of a political goal. Posted by: Kung Lao at November 04, 2024 11:54 PM (DgGvY) What's not saturated is the market for spyware-free cellphones that actually work, out of the box. The one concept I liked was one I saw that was reworked to be a field knife. The handles are cool, but not particularly gripabl for big hand so they need to be modified iwth thicker scales, and the leather covering for the sheath is not the best, and canvas is generally better in the wet. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 04, 2024 11:59 PM (3lNJp) Sounds like the mirror image of a US citizen having a domestic mutual fund or brokerage account with foreign holdings. If there is a foreign tax imposed on the foreign dividends or capital gains distributions, the institution pays it out of that income stream and reports it on the 1099-DIV. The US citizen gets to claim a foreign tax credit. That said for a taxable account, if the Canadian RRIF is a tax-deferred account like an IRA, why would the owner be filing a US tax return? You'd just pay Canadian taxes on any taxable distributions from the RRIF to you. Posted by: Count de Monet at November 05, 2024 12:06 AM (Aqu9a) 417

I think with the last batch (or the next batch) of the latest Starlinks launched, there will be the first complete set of direct-to-cell Starlinks. By complete, it means the thing can be fully operational. With direct to cell, the satellites function as cell tower. Right now, they have to coordinate that with current carriers somehow for some reason, but it will be possible to have the satellites act as an independent carrier in the future. This means cell service (4G level, I think) anywhere on the planet. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at November 05, 2024 12:13 AM (w6EFb) 426

There is a rather surprising result from classical EM theory known as the Lorentz Reciprocity Theorem, which is roughly (under some arcane boundary conditions) that if one antenna can receive a signal from a second, then the first can receive a signal from the second when transmitter and receiver roles are reversed. This means that is you have big-ass antenna somewhere and a dinky little receiving antenna can get the signal clean, then the big ass antenna can receive a return signal from the dinky one. My RADICAL prediction for this evening:
Trump declared the winner, with 312 EVs TONIGHT. Wins PA(19), NC(16), GA(16), MI(15), AZ(11), WI(10), NV(4); Popular vote too. Subtract off whoever you think is unwise enough to steal it for Kacklin' Kamala this time. Trump has had 4 years to assure they don't get away with it this time. Probably, he had his reasons for LETTING them get away with it last time. It'll be really cool if he picks up a couple of "Lean D" states too. Grudge, we'll see if I try the chicken Big Mac. Their regular chicken sandwiches aren't good. The regular is too peppery, and the spicy is too spicy. I assume they bland out their chicken patties for the Big Mac, which would be fine! Posted by: SFGoth at November 05, 2024 02:07 AM (KAi1n) My first paycheck was a summer job as a 'police cadet'. I was 16 and rode with different divisions during the day. The sergeant, the first day, talked about how we needed to fill out some withholding paperwork, and how we'd never get back the quarter taken out of our checks. This was 1972. I voted today. In my small corner of the South San Francisco Bay Area, the turnout was unusually large, slightly larger than the past 3 national elections. It's also the day before Election Day, and I understand that Sunday and Saturday were also large. The voters I saw looked like normal, shopping mall people, no nose rings, no purple hair, and actually more like what traditional working-class people look like. California is D Country, and I suspect very many of the voters are "Just vote D" types, but with this many voters, maybe even CA will be close, and several swing stated will shift to "R". It's just real hard to believe that CA, after NOT voting for Kammie in the Primary (NOT her Anointment, the previous one where Tom Steyer and Deval Patrick, the Clown Bros., out-lasted her) would now vote FOR her. Start the clock on the 24Hr Rule. Posted by: Lance LaBeouf, Member, The League of Ugly Shirted Gentlmen at November 05, 2024 02:52 AM (FlRtG) 574

Morning to all you insomaniacals! Election Day be here . . . but I don't need to mention that, do I? It'll happen whether I mention it or not. Kind of like Christmas or Halloween in that way.
About six hours' sleep. I recall Stirling the big black cat fitting himself alongside me at some point last night, and dreaming something about redhead actress Isla Fisher being trapped in a filthy passageway in an office building. I needed to hose down the passage -- I guess once I got Isla out -- but somehow I took time to have dinner with a couple of friends across the river from the building, so that I only had thirty minutes to clean the place up before it caught fire (?). Sort of a Dollar Tree version of Die Hard, I suppose. Two speeds here, dead slow and slower than dead. But mostly slower than dead.
I don't know if I will watch much of the election results tonight. OAN will have coverage, right? It would be nice to have it all settled before I go to bed, but unless I stay up until midnight (and maybe, horror of horrors, not even then), it won't be. I'm going to vote this morning. Polls open at 0600. I'll probably walk up there early and stand in line. 0515 or so. Could use the walk. Got Bible Study tonight, so will be a nice distraction to the madness of today. I'll glance here, from time to time, otherwise, I'll just ignore the newz. Most of it will be wrong and manipulative. Between all the DOOM and Hopium posts, I get burned out on both. Vote and pray, that's all one can do now.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 05, 2024 03:53 AM (omVj0) My brain feels like it's melting. Spent too much time thinking about tomorrow instead of working today, now insomnia because I'm behind at work, will loop even worse tomorrow and likely the next day. I'm in California so my vote matters less but will go do it anyway.
