Prayer Requests: 10/5 – tbodie Lurker asked for prayers. During surgery for an ablation, they found an external source of afib on an outer wall of the heart. There will be a second procedure done soon. 10/7 – Piper requested prayers for her stepfather, who fell and broke his wrist. He will need surgery to put a plate in. He is in a lot of pain. 10/7 – NR Pax sent an update and thanks for the prayers – mother-in-law’s masses in her chest turned out to be non-cancerous. 10/7 – 496 asked for prayers for the people suffering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. 496 is on his third bout of pneumonia in a month, so he could use some prayers, too. His doctors have not figured out yet what is going on. 10/7 – Eromero posted a prayer. “Dear God, Please grant comfort to families suffering worry and despair over relatives missing after the hurricane damage. Give the searchers and rescuers sharp eyes and gentle hands, guide them to any victims’ location. Supply survivors with medical treatment and nourishment, place them in safe shelters. Return them to their loved ones. In Christ’s name. Amen.” 10/7 – Marcus T posted the good news that a family member’s cancer is gone. Marcus T’s cancer is gone, as well, so he says to never lose hope, He will show you the way. 10/7 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her church’s rummage sale, and that the township which has purchased land from the church would complete the transaction and pay for the land. 10/12 – Just call me Bill asked for prayers for his 14 year old granddaughter. She is being evaluated by a rheumatologist and her mother is afraid she has lupus. Just call me Bill is asking for prayers for a better diagnosis. 10/16 – FeatherBlade posted a prayer request for his/her stepdad. He was having heart problems, went to the hospital, and they admitted him. He had a stent put in. 10/19 – Jewells said the CT scan showed growth of 3 tumors on her right lung. There are also new bone lesions on her spine, lower back, and ribcage, and fluid around both lungs which will need to be drained. Not great news, but expected after being off chemo since April.
10/26 Update – Jewells had an infusion on 10/17, and all the terrible side effects came back with a vengeance. That’s it. She’s done. NO MORE. She is looking into ivermectin and fenbendazole. 10/19 – mindful webworker asked for prayers for an elderly neighbor’s health, and strength and solace for his wife and family. 10/21 – J proposed a group prayer, on 10/29 at noon (Central) to ask God for an end to the corruption in DC and a return to the American values that made this country great. 10/23 – T gave an update that Vic, who used to do the morning report on Ace, has passed away. He had been in poor health for some time. 10/24 – buzzion asked for prayers for his friend Christina. She is dealing with a lot of struggles right now and could use the positive prayers. 10/24 – B requested prayers for a friend (age 43) who is having heart and lung problems. He had to take “the shot” for work, so B is concerned about what that might mean. 10/25 – Mental Block requests prayers as his prostate cancer journey transitions from active surveillance to deciding between two treatment options: a prostatectomy or 6 weeks of radiation combined with hormone therapy. Treatment will begin by mid-December. 10/26 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her son, a recent college graduate who is looking for work. He was recently offered a job, but the hiring supervisor hasn’t yet worked out the funding for the position. If you could pray that rough places are made smooth, they would appreciate it. Thanks very much. 10/26 – Semi-anonymous requested prayers for D, who suffered one or two moderate strokes last month. He is ambulatory but has lost half of his vision and had to fight with his insurance company for weeks to get approved for in-home rehab, and for M, who is going in for surgery for the amputation of her lower leg due to a non-cancerous but highly invasive tumor.

10/26 – W sent the following prayer request, with apologies to General Patton –
“Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains election fraud with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle elections. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers American Citizens who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies the swamp, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen.” 10/26 – Teresa in Fort Worth asked for prayers. She got some troubling and totally unexpected medical news on 10/25, and is being referred to an oncologist to see where she goes from here. She said she is freaking out because this wasn’t even on the radar. It was found while being tested for something completely unrelated.
10/31 Update – Teresa got confirmation that it is malignant cancer. She will be meeting with doctors this week to start the battle against the cancer. 10/27 – Jim Sunk New Dawn posted an update. He was feeling poorly at the TxMoMe. Aviator (a neurosurgeon) and Nurse Ratchet visited with him for a while, and the doctor gave him a “look over”. He insisted that Jim visit his local ER first thing on Monday. He did so, and was in the hospital until Thursday. Jim was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). He has a 3-5 year life expectancy. He appreciates a raft of Horde Prayers – y’all is the Best Horde EVER! 10/31 – Nan in AZ is thankful for all the prayers; she got good news from the cardiologist this week that after the heart attack and hospitalization in July, and 3 stents, the ejection fraction is back to normal and the external defibrillator has been discontinued. She has to follow up in 4 months, and will be able to resume full function and work, caring for her 84 year old mom. Good is good! Also, our church experienced a water main break yesterday that flooded the lower level. (Main sanctuary seems to be OK for now). So it created quite a mess and the children will not be attending their Sunday School classes tomorrow.

Bailey is a grey tabby we found on our back porch a few years ago. Recently he had a recurring UTI which seems to have finally cleared up. Very grateful thanks to all those of you who contributed financially.
If you take your car for a problem and the problem reoccurs you take it back and it gets worked on until it's fixed and at no extra cost. Why don't doctors and vets work like that?

Thanks! I think we need to remember that all the hand-wringing in the world won't change anything. Yes, we can take meaningful action and vote, but obsessing on the news plays into the hands of the Enemy, who is having a ball right now.
God wins. This is the truth. If Harris steals it, that is in accordance with His will. What will He be trying tell us? What should we learn?
If Trump wins, that is not an unconditional vindication, merely a reprieve from a worse fate. The struggle will still continue, though.

I meant to add that Bailey is 5 years old now. He came to us as a kitten in Dec 2019, and estimated to be 10-12 weeks old. Funny cat. Gets pushed around by other, smaller cats. Great with us though. If we look at him and roll our heads then he imitates by rolling his. What a character. Love him. Sleeps with me most of the time.

As he should have. One of our drill sergeants had a wooden staff, which he used to point and prod the recruits (this was in 2000, when they were really cracking down on fraternization).
He set it along the wall and was talking and it began to fall so the platoon guide caught it, and a second later the sergeant exploded with "DROP IT!" It clattered to the floor, and the platoon guide stammered that he was trying to catch it.
"DO NOT EVER EVER TOUCH MY STICK! THE FLOOR IS CLEANER THAN YOUR FILTY NASTINESS! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?"
"YES DRILL SERGEANT!!!"
We loved that guy. He was the most popular NCO in the company. Everyone did imitations of him and at the end, we had a contest with him as the judge.

Just this past summer there was discussion in the KY legislature about beefing up laws that dealt with squatters. The left went about demonizing the effort, saying it was "anti-homeless" and directed at illegals and the poor.
The actual motivation was the amount of property damage and theft being done by these squatters. The property in question typically was either a farm, or some other property with acreage. The squatters were killing livestock, pets, making a mess, destroying structures, etc. Plus they typically had no clue about sanitation. It was horrible.
So, KY started to look into the forcible removal of squatters on private land. That was what the left was jacked up about... that someone would be able to remove people from their own property instead of being forced to permit them to stay.

Yeah, I have a cousin in KY who's had to deal with junkie squatters on her farm. It's pretty horrible. And, unfortunately, their ringleader is her brother, my other cousin. No matter how many times she and her husband run them off, they return.

The Left in Portland's county a couple of years ago proposed a county capital gains tax to provide "free" legal representation to tenants and squatters facing eviction.
Yep, if someone squats in your house (which happens in Portland), the county would provide the squatter with a "free" lawyer to fight any attempts to kick the squatter out. (You, the owner, would not get a "free lawyer", of course.)
Amazingly, this was a bridge too far even for Portland, and the proposal was voted down decisively.

I've worked with former military people. Heard more than once when a NCO or buck leutenant started throwing their weight around like that, they would go for the coffee cup. Usually involved rubbing something all over the coffee cup. I'll leave it up to your imagination as to what was rubbed on it.

I've been in the Army and Air Force, and so I can only assume the Navy is as territorial as they are - probably more so regarding the close confines of a ship.

I have the letter from code enforcement and receipts from the lawyer to back up my story. County wanted to know why I wasn't supplying them with electric, water, and garbage. They called them tennants. I've seen news stories about this with houses in Portland. Many people can't afford to deal with the legal mess. Like me, they wind up getting rid of the property for nothing.
If you pay taxes on it, you should be able to remove anyone living there illegally.

There are instructional videos on YouTube explaining how to squat in a house in Portland (changing the locks, changing the utility bills, creating a fake rental agreement, et. al).
One of many reasons why I live in a suburban Portland county where the sheriff would efficiently determine who actually owned the property, and remove anyone who was residing there who didn't have the legal right to be there.

Polliwog - Here is what I did for a generator at Casa de OCiS. I picked up a portable 10,000 watt portable generator. Had an electrician put in a 30amp outlet on the outside of the house wired to a breaker. Get a generator interlock device ($70). 30amp outlet is only live when the main breaker is off (disconnected from utility). Then you can feed your panel from that 30amp outlet via the generator. This gives you complete control on what to power in your house.

In some cases there are legit reports of squatters slaughtering cattle or horses, pets and setting fire to various structures. These are not simply "homeless" souls either. They're typically strung out on drugs, transients and criminals that slipped through the legal cracks.
In the deeply rural areas I doubt it's much of an issue, but outside of the larger population centers it is.

The Church has changed dramatically over the past few years. The clergy are far more conservative - recent surveys indicate there are no liberal Catholics in seminaries. It's all orthodox. Our parish is getting more and more orthodox as well, and more people are receiving the Host on the tongue. The kids at the parish school kneel as well.
I find that encouraging.

The Mises caucus of the LP and a huge numbers of Bernie bots were Ron Paul supporters when he was running in the primary. Ron Paul may have presented Trump with a fair number of votes by his endorsement and his willingness to get stuck in, just by giving out that voting for Trump won't be bad.
A lot of people will sneer at the "tiny" number of votes that would bring, but it all helps. If it garners 1% of the vote, which is not unrealistic based on 2012 with the LP and Ron Paul vote that election, it is big. Remember, Ron Paul reaches people that garbage trucks and no taxes on tips won't.

It has everything to do with it. If you can't admit your mistakes, you never improve and when confronted with failure (or any misfortune), the first thing you have to ask is: what could I have done differently?
The right has been stumbling from error to error for decades, worshipping at the altar of GDP and tax cuts and treating religion as a thing we are ashamed of. Religious conservatives were generally cheap dates who always were told "later, later" and then when it came, were utterly unprepared for it. That's on us. There was no plan after Roe. Even now, our leaders are in denial, unable to do anything at all. It's been TWO YEARS since Michigan passed that abominable bill. What the hell are they doing? Where are out ballot initiatives to curtail the excesses regarding parental authority?
The fund-raising emails and letters haven't stopped though. At least their staff is getting paid.

Yep. Move incrementally, converting people through the long haul. Start out with medical arguments, explain how miscarriages are different, and how abortions to save the life of the mother are very rare.
At the same time, roll out legislation to cut the cost of childbirth, push tax reforms so more women can stay home with their children rather than day care. We can completely outflank the Dems on this, but no one is doing anything.
Basically, ban late-term abortions and include rape, incest and life of the mother exceptions. Also require reports on how prevalent these are so we have solid numbers.
When Michigan passed CCW reform, the State Police were required to keep stats on permits that were revoked. This was supposed to discredit it, but it actually showed how law-abiding they were. Let's do the same with abortion - track those special cases.

I'm amazed that the Democrats are beating Trump over the head for something he didn't say (a national abortion ban) and the Republicans aren't beating Harris over the head for something she did say (no religious exemptions to performing abortions).

That is a mistake, and why you only legislate what is feasible. So you look at where support is, and that's where you go. Banning late-term abortion is popular if you include rape, incest, and life of the mother.
So pass that. Then you work away at the edges.
And just for the benefit of everyone where, Whitmer got re-elected because the GOP nominee went on TV to say she supported zero restrictions on abortion, even rape, incest, life of the mother and it was played on endless loops.
She did that to get the RTL endorsement, which won her the nomination and lost the election.
RTL needs to stop demanding that candidates do this. They need to get pragmatic and not force the GOP off a cliff with bad, unviable candidates.
